@doodles6112 amazing to have such a smart man as your PROFESSOR. What college does he teach in? I know it's in New York? How hard is it to get admission into that college as well?
@xPhreaky its a CUNY! city college of new york. its not that difficult to get it and it isn't expensive at all. it is a fantastic school and i have enjoyed the campus and the professors since freshmen year.
And I don't really quite understand why people are comparing the intelligence of these two men. It makes no sense. Being a physics professor doesn't make you "smarter" than anyone, and is not the be all or end all of intelligence. Kaku would be the first to tell you that.
The drama queens on YouTube need to take a chill pill. The Late Show is a comedy show, and Dave is a comedian. Jokes aren't meant to denigrate the suffering of the Japanese; it's a form of cathartic relief. I've heard plenty of jokes concerning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I as an Afghan, didn't take offense to them. As for his comment of not wanting nuclear energy, I empathize with Dave. After Japan, people will hold cautionary views on having a nuclear reactor near their home.
How can a guy so smart be so ignorant in this regard. Coal and other fossil fuels kill exponentially more people per year than nuclear will probably ever kill. Apples to apples nuclear power is MUCH safer than fossil fuels.
Best case scenario, send the gangs AND Letterman to fix the problem. Dumb ass trying to hard to be funny and fail at trying to be smart. Kaku was mentally face palming his way through the interview.
@SolidSnake032486 Michio Kaku has made himself the face of the future just by recognizing we didn't have one. His audio CD's are excellent for car listening.
@SolidSnake032486 i read your comment just before watching the video and thought it was funny but kind of hiperbolized XD.. after 3:!1 mins... i TOTALLY agree with u...
It's difficult to watch self-absorbed, pompous Dave trying to sound smart on the matter of Japan's nuclear crisis. He could give a rat's ass about anyone else, his only concern is to keep the problem away his neighborhood so life continues to be peachy. Dr. Michio Kaku didn't even crack a smile. I never liked David Letterman's brand of humor much but to to have him bring this topic up and talk about it so casually really ditched him on my list. Foreigners judge USA by people like Letterman.
Why is everyone so angry at Letterman? It's a comedy show, Letterman was just trying to get a laugh out of the interview. Didn't exactly work of course, but still.
I love Michio, but his interviews are always obviously self-rehearsed. He never deviates far from a very narrow subset of anwswers. It could be that he is very certian, but I suspect he is less certian than most. It seams the more a person knows within the field of theoretical physics, the less certian he must become. Many physicist will understand that this is an unavoidable extention of a cherished principle.
I actually think he has Amazing people skills, I've met the man once and he was extremely kind and answered all of my (in respect to his intelligence) retarded questions.
@dionstrezlecki no, he just cant go that low, and laugh to something that is stupid and not funny at all...u can tell by his face that he is embarrass instead of this guy
Dr. Kaku isn't used to having someone "dumb down" his statements, or make light of a serious situation. Not that Letterman isn't witty (though sometimes his jokes just fall flat) but I don't think Kaku is on the same humor wavelength. Kaku is a brilliant science translator, able to present theoretical physics in a way that most non-physicists can understand, but he is also a keen futurist. He is optimistic but not unrealistic. Letterman is always more like, "let's see, how to make this funny..."
I have a question. There are over 300 nuclear plants in USA alone. When the solar tsunami hits in 2012 and power grid disrupted possibly for months how they will be cooling these reactors???...
On the 25th levels 35km from the plant were 100x greater than Chernobyl - 14 days after both respectively. At 75km Fukushima was 2x the levels as Chernobyl - both 14 days after the event.
Not as bad as Chernobyl? 100 times worse! So far!
Fukushima doesn't have a graphite core but here 6 plants that have released radiation. 4 of them partially melted down, 2 severe core breaches, Numerous fires, and LOTS of contaminated water spilled into the ocean.
LOL Letterman is so illiterate compared to Dr.Kaku its quite ridiculous how many people are stupid and unproductive in this world. If even half of the human population were as educated and logical as him we would be a far more advanced and productive civilization.
A couple Google searches will turn up more than enough information to determine that Fukushima is not and will never be anything like Chernobyl. This so-called expert Kaku is clearly just another sensationalistic fraud exploiting recent events for his own self interest. I mean seriously, on Letterman he said the Russians handled Chernobyl better than the Japanese in Fukushima. That is the most absurd thing I've ever heard.
yes the soviets handled chernobly pretty well, yes ten's of thousands died and god knows how many have gotten cancer. but its like a soviet general i forget his name said "someone had to do it". the soviets brought back their helicopter pilots from afghanistan to sandbang that reactor. guess what happened to those pilots, and the guys who were throwing sand bags out the plane by hand? they died. the liquidators, robo-soldiers died quickly or got cancer. but someone had to do it.
@akatura yes, but he seems very arrogant and one of those that capitilize on fear mongering. He's in alot of 2012 videos...just rubs me the wrong way.
@CerberusSoul4ever I have to disagree. Michio Kaku seems to be the most optimistic one about the future. Just check out his videos about future predictions...
Dave must be on the political bandwagon with Cuomo. Dave is poorly educated about nuclear power. He failed to mention that it was NOT an earthquake that caused the devistation in Japan, but the tsunami that damaged the back-up generators to Fukushima. During an earthquake in NY, I'd be more afraid of the skyscrapers falling to the ground and the streets crumbling in to the subway lines below than a nuclear catastrophe.
@stephbent1 Why are you going to say somebody is not educated on something when the earthquake is what caused everything because its what started the Tsunami the the Tsunami wrecked the backup generators.Lets make it a little more simple ok, if the earthquake had not have happened then non of this would have happened.Tsunami's are only caused by earthquakes.
