  • Glad I live in Nashville.

  • I would trust the shit out of him to make me some solid moonshine.

  • Does anyone know how to order his shine without ebay thay charge the hell out of ya.

  • All the in-bred dopers in Cocke County, and the government picks on an old man who was not bothering anybody! This was a public act of "Fuckery!"

  • This makes me sad he reminds me of my grandpa god bless you popcorn

  • I see he exposed himself too much .. that's probably his downfall .. dang shame. My dad and a local deputy friend made that stuff in our back yard on a mini still back in the mid 80's they used wheat bran instead of corn though.. burns just as pretty a blue flame as corn . Taste? I have no idea didnt partake.

  • I dont care what anyone says. This is an art, not a crime, and with that being said Popcorn was the Divinci of his time when it came to moonshine.

  • my dad has been friends with the guy on moonshiners for a long time. he works at the fire department here in climax, va

  • popcorn may have died but let the legion

  • R.I.P Popcorn Sutton

  • nice

  • Deliverants. That is all

  • @TheSketchify

Learn how to spell you dumbass.

  • @rubbersole79 phree cuntry bitch make me spel wright <3

  • RIP Popcorn.A simple man rocking a pair of bib overalls making a living creating the best moonshine you could get.

*holds up a mason jar full of moonshine*

To you Popcorn,a gentle soul taken away from this world to early.

    *middle finger to the government*

  • Jb is my Grand pal

  • My grandpa ran moonshine back in the '50s, he always loves to tell us stories from those days! :)

  • Family friend, Ali Randolph, sang her original song about Popcorn at his Memorial Service. She has now posted a video of the song played with her band, The Outta Luck Band.

Moonshiners - Popcorn Sutton - Ali Randolph & The Outta Luck Band - Music Video - Moonshine

  • The new show called Moonshiners is so fake. They basicly are showing a guy moonshining and then a cop trying to catch a moonshiner. What a joke.

  • @MrCornbreesha then why comment on this if youre just gonna hate on the show

  • Moonshines are what made NASCAR

  • i grew up in romania. we made our own wine in the fall and had a still too. u could put all kinds of fruits and what not in there. so, moonshine, is it made of corn only, or what?

  • hell fucking yeah

  • thats my great great uncle

  • How did Popcorn Die??? I really enjoyed this guy. A gentleman to say the least.

  • @inilledra He died from suicide, he was about to face a 18 month stint in a federal prison and i guess that didn't seem all that great so he ended it all with carbon monoxide, a damn shame, hes a moonshine legend for sure

  • @inilledra Suicide by carbon monoxide a few days before he was supposed to go to prison.

  • @hokiefan104 how proud the pigs should be for killing this gentle man, people will always drink moonshine no matter what pigs

  • Thank you for this video

    God Bless

    Dan

  • Y'all chill he's just a good ole country fella. He ain't in a meth lab or some crap like that. So what if he made some white lightning! Big deal

  • @costa5801 Well there are two problems with making moonshine. One is your making money tax free and the second is if it's not made properly it can make people very sick or in some cases cause blindness or even death. Not to mention some shiners cut there moonshine with other cheaper liquids (bleach, embalming fluids) to make higher profits.

  • @hokiefan104 one dumbass the one makin shine dont cut it with shit like that, they cut it with water, cant sell whiskey if everyone knows yer batch is bad shit and what causes blindness aint from people cuttin it

  • @hokiefan104 Yeah because bleach and embalming fluids are cheaper liquids than spring water that naturally runs down from the mountains (i.e. free)...

Keep believing more of the government propaganda.

  • I watched this docu a few years ago and ordered the whole shebang from Sucker Punch. Y'all won't regret it if you do.

  • LESSON IS DON'T LET KNOW ONE KNOW.

  • Anyone have the clip where he talks about the approved slang terms from the era, such as brown mule, who shot Sally, but that no one other than law enforcement that called it white liquor.

  • That's my Uncle<3 Rest in Peace Pop

  • any idea of the age of these folk?

  • He chain smoked everyday all his adult life, thats more than enough taxes paid on tobacco to cover the shine he made.

  • The Second Annual Popcorn Sutton Tribute August 6,2011. Maggie Valley Festival Grounds. Maggie Valley,NC!

  • my grandpa made shine during pohibition in the mountains of Tennessee popcorn is a true shine legend

  • Popcorn was just a simple person minding his own business and harming no one! We have a government who won't go after the hardcore criminal such as the drug dealers and such, and pick on one harmless guy like Popcorn! Dirty rotten shame the government is one big coward and can't pick on someone their own size!

  • @JDeereGP What are you talking about? He didnt pay any taxes on all his sales and the U.S.Gov smashes drug dealers. You are a fool if you believe anything you have just spouted.

  • @fentonkaine He's just an old man!! Figure it out man? He's not breaking into peoples homes to steal for drugs ! I don't have a problem with someone making moonshine versus druggies breaking into homes looking for stuff to steal to curb their drug habit! Read my comment a few times and sit back and think about it? You probably never had to deal with break ins and such? Just one old man and you think the drug cartels in Mexico are law abiding people? Whatever!!!!

  • @JDeereGP And? You dont seem to read or stay on point do you? The laws the law. Making wild assumptions about what i have had to deal with or not had to is ridiculous

  • I didn't think people like this existed anymore. These men look like they're ready to pick up a flintlock rifle and settle a fued between the Hatfields and McCoys.

  • when I grow up I wanna be like Popcorn.

  • @erowider1 if you are serious , then you sir have no ambition !

  • where are the big stills? 1000 gallons. i know there are some.

  • @moviesforrandy i'll never tell

  • @moviesforrandy I remember in 70's that some big stills were found in TN. I'm not sure where.

  • @moviesforrandy they are still busting 1000 gallon seills here in south ga. in 2011.

  • Popcorn wasn't causing any trouble or hurting anyone and still the feds come after him instead of going after the guys selling drugs on the streets to kids....It's a shame he had to go):

  • amazing!

  • dude I would give anythin to have a grandfather like popcorn sutton this old man is fucking awesome!!.

    Popcorn Sutton=100% EPIC FUCKING WIN!!!!

  • I watched this on TV last night. This is GREAT. I enjoyed the heck out of it. This Popcorn guy is amazing. What an artist. The film made me even more anti-government than i was before. People should be free to do harmless things like this without govt interference. Our govt needs to spend more time chasing terrorists and illegals than Americans.

  • @edko426

Sadly this is something that governments love to do...ours is particularly fond of it. In Britain in times past the youngest execution victim in history was killed for having stolen bread...yet one of their most vicious murderers known to kill young girls to bathe in their blood was commuted to house arrest because executing royalty was considered horrible.

Now here in the US you have Wall Street breaking the law on a daily basis, yet this man is crucified for having made moonshine.

  • @edko426 Its a shame he died in 2009. i started to tear up when i read he passed. But the new show is great and i hope it lasts.

  • @edko426

if done wrong it makes people blind. don't get swept up in Romanticism.

  • @jdubbs530 the people who could go blind choose to drink it,popcorn didnt put a gun to there heads

  • @edko426 Popcorn is dead. He got arrested and chose to commit suicide rather than serve prison time. Sad story, cool guy. Google it and read the wikipedia article

  • @edko426 well put my you tube friend !!

  • @edko426 He killed himself after being arrested. It's pretty sad.

  • @edko426 Terroists and illegals is what keeps the govt in business. As long as they are here the govt is able to increase it power over us. If more people were self reliant like Popcorn the govt has less power. People like Popcorn are a threat to the govt power, that is why they go after them. Research the aftermath of the reichstag burning of 1933, and compare it to 9/11. Both govt seized the chance to increase control and power. Only difference is the reichstag was set up by nasdp

  • It is a shame the government went after Popcorn. He was such an easy target. I think the government officers are just affraid of real criminals.

  • To the people in the film you guys are too cool.

    Keep On!

  • this is so cool old school moonshinin. this is something to be proud of not illegial.

  • Poor Popcorn,he wanted to be a moonshiner and a celeb. That won't work. There's guys that have run tons more shine than Popcorn did and you've never heard of them. Popcorn made himself a target for Feds with all the interviews etc.

  • popcorn sutton moonshine pioneer

  • bill bob thorton is going to play him in a movie--called shine

  • There'll Be Moonshine In Them Old Kentucky Hills--Stringbean youtube video song

  • R.I.P, Popcorn. The G-men can kiss my ass

  • when the steam enters the barrel before the worm what does the gas pass through in order for there to be a filtration? as in what did he put in the barrel was it water, other moonshine?

  • Comment removed

  • Perhaps someday, this type of grass roots production will share some of the esteem of single malt whiskey makers in Scotland. I personally don't enjoy hard liquor but I can appreciate the culture, tradition and craftsmanship that I see here. I guess their crime is that they made it a bit too strong.

  • Next we'll be hailing METH COOKS as American legends and hero's ..

  • @electronictrip Alcohol isn't illegal fool...just TAXED!!!

  • @electronictrip Get the fuck out of here bud. Good lord, give your head a shake.

  • @electronictrip dude, talk about slippery slope...

  • @electronictrip Shut up dumbass... I bet you are so much Fun to hangout with....NOT...

  • Popcorn & Mountain Dew O ya ,--- - RIP.

  • Its a shame that the worse than worthless goverment pressured this ole guy to the edge. The man was a talent beyond imagination.

The American Goverment is an act that could use some talent of its own, for example, Govt., go kill that motherfucker that blew up our fucking buildings 10 fucking years ago, You sorry fukas

  • its bullshit to see this man dead over taxes....the government only uses our taxes to line their own pockets and nigger's welfare checks...he was doing nothing wrong other than doin somthin he loved doin and if thats wrong may the good lord let me move to china cause god knows the united states is now communist as well...if you agree respond with a thumbs up

  • @soadisawesome24 Do some fact checking there are more Whites on Welfare than anyone else. With this recession, those numbers are skyrocketing.

  • "Lies, damn lies and statistics." Mark Twain, There are more Whites on Welfare, but Whites still make up 73% of US. 52% Whites including Mexicans on Welfare, 48% Blacks on Welfare, BUT, Blacks are only 13% of the population. Do some fact checking. The numbers are skyrocketing because of NAFTA, CAFTA. Stop buying imports and the jobs will come back.

  • We are tax slaves. The federal government in the District of Corruption will target anybody that does not pay taxes, no matter how small. Popcorn was a thorn in their side.

"It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong."

  • a movie is in the works with billy bob thornton playing popcorn--that should be a good 1

  • music

  • ol popcorn..definately will be missed..us kentucky folks sure did love him!

  • I loved your documentary i watched it twice on PBS and now watching clips on here.I think one of my favorite things he said was " bubba say it time to make the wicky" cracked me up !!!! I love popcorn Sutton. And thank you for making the film about him just wonderful !!!

  • @cntrygrl368 my favorite line was when he was talkin' about that lady and he said "she drank two of them vie-eeener sausage cans full and took the first drip off that worm and then she'd dance. she was a tough one." or something like that. i dropped my drawers and laffed my butt OFF when i heard that!

  • WOW! i enjoyed your documentary (the DOC channel) IMMENSELY! FABULOUS! i'm going to share this youtube vid on my fb page so that others can go find your video. it is AWESOME. the people are SO lovable and oh what a disservice America has done to them, along with other people who are salt-of-the-earth such as farmers. thank you SO much for making this video!!!!!!

  • Email me for download links

  • Some body needs to tell the goverment boys that as far asI am concernd caused this mans death that they need to spend there time looking for the Meth makers and leave the shiners the fuck alone ....

  • this is very interesting, what a hoot. legends live everywhere but people like you make them legends, no one can change that. the videos are interesting and extremely entertaining to watch. the video production is excellent and the audio even more. youll never make something someone can copy when your ideas are genuion. peace!

  • Popcorn is one cool ass guy. That's for sure.

  • goddam the feds to hell

  • rest in peace

  • The feds going after this guy are like them going after massage parlors and girls just trying to make a living. Scumbags they are. This man is hurting no one. Just trying to make a few bucks and feed his family. Great film on this guy.

  • drinkin' from a mason jar of char which well be the last from Popcorn... I lived in Cocke County Tn for years. Fuck the gvt...

  • Ive been around this since I was 5 yrs old in 1969. All my family knew how to make it.

  • great!

  • I would appreciate it if you didn't file-share my film. You can check the Documentary Channel or your local PBS affiliate to see when it will run again. Doc Channel also has a streaming site where you can view, but not download, the entire film.

  • @SuckerPunchPictures whats the streaming site called?

  • @SuckerPunchPictures mhh nope

  • @SuckerPunchPictures , I own your doc on the last one, i love it great watch. i just live about 30mins down the road from where popcorn lived. i was just wonderin is there somewhere i could get a song breakdown of all the songs that were played in it?

  • @adamtheham I'll try to post the song list at some point. I was going to issue a CD of the full music in the film, but really couldn't afford to pay the artists what they would deserve...

  • @SuckerPunchPictures Yeah, i would really appreciate that! Also, where can i watch this documentary online? I checked the website but couldn't find any link to streams.

  • Very nice.... nice old mans!!!

  • ive met him before hes pretty awesome he gave us some free moonshine he was crazy but he died last year

  • genius

  • i bet this shit is good liquor...i bet its better than that cheap crap i buy at the store

  • his grave read popcorn said fuck you

  • Ya it is sad that the moonshiners are vanishing. Now meth is today's moonshine haha. It's sad.

  • I'm not even American but it's sad to see that the old ways that created your culture and identity are quickly vanishing

  • what a great man that popcorn is, reminds me a bit of my grandpaw

  • this is an awesome huy would love to meet him i grew up around people like this.

  • Does everyone know why moonshine is illegal? It's not for the public safety like the Feds say. It's because moonshiners don't pay taxes on moonshine revenue, and the Feds can't have that happening. Moonshine to avoid government control, and taxes goes all the way back to King George, and is one of the reasons for the revolution, and the establishment of a new country called, the United States.

  • @sergeantsailorman This is absolutely true, Mr. Sutton was charged with having "untaxable alcohol"...about 800 gallons worth. Also, he was charged with having a firearm...seems a bit odd...guns and booze becomes an issue for America.

  • Everyone should read the book "Patriots" by Rawles. If the US economy should crash, and our country fail, everyone will be hustling to stay alive and feed family members. Money will be worthless. Trade, or barter items will be necessary. Moonshine will be a definate barter item.

  • popcorn aint the last one i know old people that make it all the time

  • Got an old Steamer down in SE TN myself and like ya said, I always have a problem here and there never fails.LOL Good Video thanks for more ole school.

  • We should be able to make our own whiskey and what I don't understand is why arrest him when there's pieces of shit sellin drugs and killin, the good ole people who made this country great arnt wanted anymore and there dyin off it's a sad thing seein yer own country goin down in smoke

    Rip man

  • First, Popcorn was a true piece of Appalachian Americana, right out of the hills of east Tennessee. He wasn't busted for makin shine, but for NOT paying the taxes due on it! My grandpaws made shine! Showed his sons how. I learned how. Some things are just worth knowin. If you want to put ol Popcorn down, remember, "Don't criticise a man until you walk a mile in his shoes." He did what came natural to him. Don't criticise a dead man. One of the best that ever lived! Here's to you Popcorn!!!

  • Oh my comments not good enough to post? Go ahead and buy that book then, fools, Amazon won't let you know until it's too late that it's by a kitchen distiller out to rip on Popcorn.

  • Wolf: OK... have at it lol.

  • Justice > The Law.

  • Popcorn was a real man , real hero , not like those Hollywood homos ! Keep his memory alive , and don't let ass-licking cocksucking law-abiding faggots disrespect him in anyway .. I wish I could find that prick who sentenced Popcorn sometime , somewhere alone

  • Murle: And your point?

  • Ya know, that judge dun made dis redneck boy mad. Corrupted people in the government make me mad, and when popcorn took his own life due to that judge, i got raging mad. That judge should've been fired, but the government smiled and patted him on the back for making an old man go to prison, even though he had ailing health. That is enough to get anyone on here mad.

  • looks like my best friend . he could be his grandson

  • I have known Mr. Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton since 1991, when a friend learned of my taste for GOOD white whiskey and called me to Knoxville, where we went over to Jefferson or Cocke county (Tenn) where I was introduced to him. He was genuine and put on no frills,. He was what he was & you could like him or kiss his ass,. He was a true Southern gem. Men of his claibre are reapidly vanishing in the south, and the making of GOOD white whiskey is just about to vanish forever.

    Johnny Knowles

  • It's sad, America no longer wants the people who made it great.

  • Comment removed

  • i lived close to this guy hes from over there at doniger ha LOL

  • R.I.P il make a batch just for you and put it on your grave

  • Its a goddam shame that the feds alloted so much time and money fucking with Ole Marvin instead of doing something useful like keeping some fucking raghead from blowing up a building full of people. The only reason they messed with him is to look like they were doing something...Fuckers

  • @hellbilly075 tragic as hell. and some folks blame yankee ideals and influence. there are a lot of us that want this kinda folk to get into the north, and east, and really stoke the flame from yesterday. truly real people are hard to come by these days, everywhere we need more popcorn's.

  • as long as that raghead manages to blow you up, id say he did fine.

  • R.i.P pOpcOrN.!

  • its with tears in the eyes knowing that little battler is no longer with us here on planet earth, old Pop Corn Sutton is up there now with the lord , sitting next to "Thunder Road" watching all those blockaders runin with their throttles wide open, enjoying what they did best. The real god news there are no ATF agents as they are all in hell.

SHAME AMERICA FOR ALLOWING THIS INNOCENT MAN TO TAKE HIS OWN LIFE with 18 months in a Federal jail.

  • A friend told me about him and the suicide.

    Had to check this out...

    Damn, what a shame...

    Don't know ya, but R.I.P.

  • RIP Popcorn

  • rip popcorn

  • I love Popcorn. What's sad is he and country folk around this country are made fun of by Hollywood and comedy shows. These are good people, and I'm glad to be kin and know country folk like Popcorn. R.I.P. Popcorn... You fucked the government one good last time..

  • i dont think "popcorn" gave a shit about what hollywood thought
