I just finished the last book, Lord Sunday. The ending was so sad and stupid at the same time. Everybody dies except arthur and the universe is destroyed, and arthur has to make the universe all over again. WHAT A TERRIBLE ENDING!!!
@Anthonyk312 wow dude just ruin the ending to the books, that was the only way the books could end so how about you keep your spoilers to yourself douchbag
nix should have made lord sunday befriend arthur and made him use the power of the keys to rewrite the will thus would have ultimately sparked an all out battle between the architect, the old one, and dame primus against arthur, lord sunday, the piper, the mariner, and all denizens of the house.
it would end with all the lower half of the house destroyed. but the house would then be build up again with the incomparable gardens as the new lowest region of the house.
Hi, Im reading the series an im on lord sunday, just got it. Im on like page 40 r somthen an I don't get if Arther is suppose to be REALLY ugly or Handsome. Cuz the discription he was given when he was at his house sounded really disturbing.
you know, i read the entire book, and the essential idea is similar to deltora quest. both involve finding seven parts. both end with a lot of black material. both have 3 main characters, etc.
i'm reading mister monday for a book report and i need picturs of the gargole and the House so if you could tell me a little more about what they lok like that would be great thnxXD love the book
Just out of curiousity, did anyone else see the simularities between Drowned Wednesday and Sin?
Both were bohemoth white whales. Both involantarily caused destruction. Both where once human(oid). Both had entire worlds inside them . And both final battles for each story takes place there. Only Drowned Wednesday is bigger but Sin has a bigger world inside him and can fly!
I could see this as a totally epic movie, though forget an anime movie. It's not that I have a problem with anime, in fact I'm a huge fan of studio ghibli, but there's some things amines good for, and there's some that live action or good cgi that would be better suited. I just feel that anime is not as good for expressing darker kinds of films.
has anyone else noticed that in siir thursday arthur's rank in the house is 6 but there are only 4 morrow days including thurs, i'm guessing nu,ber 1 must be either the piper, the old one or the architect
U do know he wrote all the other books and published them its just hard to find them now in america by the way i have all the hard covers had to pay like a 100 bucks for lord sunday in hard cover
lord sunday isnt even out yet... he only finished it last friday, the 15th may... i sw him talk yesterday and he said he had just sent it to his publisher
Why is animation crap? There are a lot of movies out there that would have been better if they were animated. And I did'nt mean an animated TV series, I ment an animated movie series.
And a live action series would never work. The series is set in less than a month. The actors would be too old by the end of it. Much easier if it was animated.
In the first novel, Arthur, an asthmatic boy of 12 (I think that's his age) finds himself involved in an alternate world inside ours - a "House" full of denizens which is supposedly the center of the universe. The imagery and the ideas are creative and mythic - greek references and the pied piper are major players.
Arthur is heir to the corrupted house and must defeat seven leaders within it and claim their keys in order to restore balance to the universe.
Ive been waiting for our bookstore to provide a copy of the Abhorsen, I got Sabriel and Lirael but aint sure yet if our bookstores here are supplying the 3rd book... I may just purchase it online...
I owe everything to my former english teacher, Mr Walsh. He gave me his copy of Sabriel to read after I won a competition for fantasy writing at school, and I've been hooked on Mr. Nix's books ever since.
i started reading sabriel but didnt like it than i started mister monday and i was hooked the series is my kind of book. i am currently reading drowned wednesday and soon to read sir thursday!
thats cool..its awesome when some teachers turn out to be really cool and helpful...I saw Lirael in our library and i borrowed...and instantly fell in love with Mr.Nix's writing and his awesome books...
If they made movies of Keys to the Kingdom, they would rival Harry Potter with buget needs. And they'd have to change the actors who play Arthur, Suzy and Leaf as they'll get older. But if any books deserve movies, these do.
Some books would make bad movies and some would make good movies. Example: The wheel of time is a great and immensely popular fantasy series, but wont be made into a movie because
a.) It's too long.
b.) There are too many things that happen. When an author makes lots of smaller scenes and mini-adventures that tie into the bigger story, it gets harder and harder to make a movie off of it.
ack sorry i didn't mean to press the thumbs down X_X that's not there....... and i hope they make of movie of his book shade's children :D i love that book. it'd be a great movie, eh?
omg they should totaly make a move out of all of garth nix books about the old kingdom and Shades children would make a great horror film, some one out there can u hear mee!!!
there will be a movie. Nix sold the rights. I dont know when it will come out, but what I do know is that there will be a huge casting problem indeed.
Only problem, if they did 7 movies, they'd have to cast different kids halfway thru the series b/c the original ones would be too old. Knowing Hollywood, they'd try to combine some of them...that could either be disastrous or miraculous, depending in which director's hands the project is placed. I keep thinking George Lucas for some reason...maybe b/c he published The Seventh Tower series for Nix...
Yeah, but HP goes in 1-year increments, so it makes sense for the actor playing Harry to look a little older year after year. KttK is over the span of one (Earth) week. Even w/ all that time Arthur spends in the House, I doubt he'd go from looking like a 12-year-old to a 19-year-old in the span of 7 days.
*squeals* AHH!! YES!! MY HERO!!!!! MY ANTI-DRUG!!!!! I LUV YOU!! YOU HAVE A COOL ACCENT!!!!!!! YAAAYY!!!!! I HAVE YOUR SIGNED AUTOGRAPH HANGING IN MY ROOM!!!! YEAHH!!! *NO i am NOt an OBSESSED Garth Nix fan...teheheh*

kadabra900 2 years ago
hmmm....yes, fantasy more than scifi.
In the first novel, Arthur, an asthmatic boy of 12 (I think that's his age) finds himself involved in an alternate world inside ours - a "House" full of denizens which is supposedly the center of the universe.
