Don't buy the Canon T3i for video! The Canon T3i and other models have a problem with the automatic gain control that causes a persistent hiss in the audio whether or not you use an external mic which basically makes the video unusable. There is third party firmware that can fix the problem, but it's not without risk and will void the warranty. I really wish I had figured this out sooner so I could send mine back.
My camera's video quality looks a mess. It looks blurred. I think the focus might be off. I can't put anything close to the camera while recording. I KNOW there has to be something that can be done with a $600 camera. I've seen videos that look better than mines. Could you please help me.
can yo help me my when i am doing the recording in my t3i in few seconds its will says "movie recording has been stopped automatically" whats wrong with did i do something? plz help me :(
@baroc00 Which focus mode are you using? You may want to invest in the T3i Crash Course DVD- Its well worth the investment to know your gear and will save you a lot of headaches.
@baroc00 You probably accidentally activated the "Video Snapshot Mode". When you are in video mode, press the "Q" button on the back of the camera. The information in the LCD should indicate the change between regular record mode and video snapshot mode.
@baroc00 I think I may have answered this before, but I'm not sure. It sounds like you activated the "video snapshot" mode. When you're in video recording mode, just hit the 'Q' button on the back to toggle it on and off.
hey mike when you speak about sensitivity relating to the shutter button why not use the word velocity sensitive? This is a midi controller term that refers to how hard a note is pushed with a musical midi controller.
I have problems with recording videos !!! Can u plzz help us with that ? It just can record up to 10 seconds !! And i see that every body has the same peoblem .. Is it from the camera or what ?? I'll try the 10 class memory but i dont think i will find it ! $:
@OfficialDrumsNdSkate - if u into filming (like me) i would say get the 8GB [CLASS10] memory card which would do the job about right if you want to shoot a 3-4minutes video, like short film, gadgets review, ranting? LOL.
better yet get the 16GB or higher, but the price would get higher as the capacity of the card get biggger.
So remember get the CLASS10 card, it would say on the card if not it would be a symbol look like circle and number10 inside the circle.

@Tuticrafts - its cool bro to not know everything and willing to ask. Okay so honesty i dont know much about it. But one thing i know is (from my experience) i used the class 6 that i had previously with the T3i. Its only allowed me to record for 4 seconds. IDK why, but i tried google it up and i get the answer that class 10 would allow the camera to access the card faster and better. I think thats why.
Hope this could help. Anything ask our friend Mr. Googlington. He knows everything.
hey can you help me please? when I start recording a video with my T3i after like 4 or 5 seconds it stops and says "Recording stopped automatically" and I'm not able to record for more of 5 seconds, I have a 16GB SDHC so I don't think the problem is the SD card, please help me. thank you
@hugobl06 It's probably the class of your card. Get a class 8 or 10, I have a feeling you have a class 6. Your card isn't fast enough, or at least that seems like what it would be.
Thanks for the video, very helpful, as this is my first SLR camera. I checked out your website and didn't find the video for the T3i, although I did find the T2i. But I would love to learn more about the T3i, hopfully I can find it!!!
I've had my T3i for just over a week now, and have been playing with it a good bit.
Just downloaded your T3i crash course and am about about an hour & forty minutes into the first video. I've already learned how to do more neat stuff than I think I would have in another month of just poking about.
It's sort of like a missing manual for the camera. Thanks! :)
Thank you Michael. You are right, with practice it all comes together quickly. Just got my T3i in April 2011 and already using and testing many things. Just saw your video and it's a good review for me.

this camera is on sale for 650$...is that a good enough price or should i wait some more?
chinh101 2 months ago
@chinh101
Wait 6mo and it will go down. Wait a year and it will go down more.
Wait a few weeks to watch it fluctuate.
or buy it now and stop wasting your time to save $20.
