For the engine block, cylinder head, I've used only measurement from a disassembled engine and for the components that have a big impact over the functionality (pistons, cam shaft, crank shaft etc), I've used original piece execution drawings (at that time I had access to this type of files).
Total time needed to do this: 4 months; and still is not what I wanted.
Does anyone know how to add a rib in between pillars in one outer engine case. What is the most best engineering software to model a engine. Anyone who has experience in modelling engine ?? Please, i need your valuable opinion.
If you use CATIA, in order to do the cylinder head and the engine block use Shape Design (harder than part design).
For this K9K engine I've used Part Design (back then I had not time to learn Shape Design). If you use Part design, in order to that rib, use multiple planes (NOT a PROFESSIONAL approach: P, but I'm not PRO' so...).
The only thing that feels better than making a really cool tutorial, design or article, is sharing it with others that will really benefit by it.

Did you model through CAD or you just use the Sketcher to trace the original picture? no offense. How long does it take to finish this project?
