Went to a Halloweeen party last night and the dj played this song about 2:00 am when everyone was off the dance floor and about to leave. My girlfriend and I of 2 years were the only two people on the dance floor at the time when this song came on. It felt so great sharing this moment with the one I love so dearly, alone for the final dance of the evening while others gathered and shared in the moment. Great night, my love. I so love this song, too. I was in 8th grade. My older friend played drums for a whole bunch of us stuffed in a smokey apartment bedroom lots and lots of times. Appreciate that trivia commentary. I thought the album we played was titled "Reasons." I guess not. Must have been "Gratitude." Fantastic version here. The short version always on the radio just doesn't do justice. I'm amazed that I appreciated the talent in this song when I was such a young punk. But wow, I still do.

This version of Reasons was originally offered on EWFs "Gratitude" double-album (much of that album consists of tracks from this outstanding live concert).

It's true that live albums are often something of a crapshoot compared to studio recordings, but Gratitude was as good as "live" ever got with any band.

I also agree that this is the very best version of the song ever recorded--substantially better, IMO, in many ways than the studio track from "That's the Way of the World."

He played guitar like no one else did before, so that gave him a very special place in music history.
