It’s about a failed relationship. He wasn’t giving enough 'cause for some reason or another he either didn’t know how, was blinded by judgment, or simply couldn’t convey his feelings clearly enough to her.

He refers to her as the person reachin through the dark. She is tryin desperately to hold on to him as he slips away. He refers to her as "someone" to emphasize the idea that she is becoming just another person rather than someone that he truly knows how to care about.

That little girl never knew the lives that were sacrificed, just to try to save her from her own mother, by men who, in their misguided love, did more harm than good to way too many people. Good story. Good movie. Great song.

girl dumps guy because she doesn't feel loved enough

guy accepts break up

girl doubts herself and comes back

guy rejects girl for fear of the cycle repeating (despite his love for her)

Tuning is DADGAD

Thumb plays open 4th and 6th strings

index plays 3rd string open and pulling off and hammering on 2nd fret

for the other chord just add a finger on 4th string 2nd fret!

The difficulty comes from the synchronization of the two right hand fingers used :-)
