I can't believe some of you american people consider Walker as a hero... he was a psychotic tyrant, illegaly named himself as president of nicaragua (that automatically made him a law breaker), and he favoured slavery, duh!
@knighttemplar06 I don't know any Americans who think of Walker as a hero. Most of us have never heard of him. Those who have studied history quickly learn that he was one crazy son of a bitch. And another black eye on the foreign policy situation in the United States. Our government just can't seem to keep its hands to itself. Viva Nicaragua.
@halfthrottle - Crazy like a Fox! He is a hero and his vision could've been implemented - i mean how many few ppl did it really take to do these monumental tasks? Not so many evidently.
I'm nicaraguan, and we remember william walker as one of the big villian of our history (like somoza family), september 14 is a national day, a tribute to "La batalla de San Jacinto" (The battle of San Jacinto) where the "nicaraguan army" (basically an untrained militia) beat the Walker's Filibusteros (well trained mercenaries with much better weapons) againts all the odds, this eventually helped to turn the tide of the war in favour of the central american allied
What come on why woud the usa make him a hero he wanted slaves and my names snake kassey like ur vids and can u tell i was lying about all that huh hahaha
@scourgechannel Because many people in the United States at the time supported Slavery. Just like they supported Manifest Destiny. Your joke would be better with punctuation.
@scourgechannel So are you saying that there is a connection between Franklin Pierce from whom Barbara Pierce Bush comes? So is there a connection between the Bush's and William Walker? As in George Herbert Walker Bush and George Walker Bush? So are you saying that there is a connection between Franklin Pierce from whom Barbara Pierce Bush comes? So is there a connection between the Bush's and William Walker? As in George Herbert Walker Bush and George Walker Bush?
@scourg I have read that an easy way to prove the relationship is to exhume the body of William Walker and do a DNA analysis on it with comparisons to GWB or his Mom. Would that shed light on the Bush connections to the Operation Zapata (Bay of Pigs) or Iran-Contra? Would that be reverse Nazi science? Like tracking down a "Master Race" of ass holes?
@scourgechannel Are we still trying to annex Central America...if we are....why don't we create an army at the California, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas/Mexoci border and bring civility and rule of law for all people.....we could march south bringing freedom and equality to all as we change drug policies, land reform and equality of opportunity in a warmer climate where a sustainable future is more likely if we can save the rain forest at the same time. Milton Friedman's spinning.
Walkers story is quite amazing. We can look at him now, and think he's a little crazy. But had he succeeded (and he almost did) all of central america would be part of the U.S. and he would be regarded as a hero.
Most of the information in this video's is correct. Even some of the jokes are correct, like "if he would have married his sister they're kids would have looked like this." Check the Wiki.
It's true, I am joking around with this video, but William Walker did have an amazing life. And very nearly changed the world. All of Central America might be part of the United States had he suceded.
all you people condemning Walker, you couldn't even get six guys together to invade and take over your local McDonalds.....

I enjoyed this video. Its a clever way to make history interesting even if it is a bit one sided. But, everything said was true so hey.

@willyrobinson I guess if you are okay with a vision of America that still includes slavery then yeah he's a hero.
