This is really nice. You voice seems really well suited to the Irish folk style. I could definitely hear this rolling out over the hills. Truly amazing. And thanks again for subbing me. It means a lot from someone with your talent.
Thanks Les - 'you the man' is a phrase I could throw in your direction and know it will be caught by safe hands. That makes your kind comments all the more appreciated! Thanks!
Left a comment here yesterday, at least I thought I had, well, Happy St Patrick's - a bissl verspätet LOL
Anyway Kev, when I heard this I again thought how intesne you sound with just you and guitar, still here I could hear some instrumentation with some sustained notes (harmonica, violin or cello or sth) and some orchestra drums from very far away
I think I saw your "Ice Cream Man" cover before (which I liked very much!) - now I rediscovered you through your wonderful collaboration with WaitsWatcher, singing one of my favorite Waits songs, and I decided to look through some of your videos. Now this is just a magnificent song, easily one of the best original songs by YouTubers I've seen/heard! Methinks I'm going to have to favorite & subscribe! :)
No, I'm still here in Germany but so many people have asked me if I'm German that I just thought it would be clearer if I 'moved' to the Irish YouTube.
Thanks for the kind comments Dave (again) - much appreciated.
"...long time ago but I still have your face..." That line moves me so. I just saw my lost love, recently (I have known him for 10ish years) so this song hits home, for sure. You capture the beauty and innocence of a love once shared and still cherished, beautifully (at least that is what I get from this song). I'm left with a half - smile *sigh* 5 stars. P.S. HUGS.
Hugs for you too! Your interpretation is pretty accurate too - not just love love for a person but also youth, innocence and a home, in some ways. Sounds sad but it's not really meant to. It's also moving on, I suppose (and hopefully, forward). Thanks again for watching & commenting!
my computer is slow at loading videos today...so it stopped half way into the first verse. it was quite upsetting since i really wanted to hear the rest of the song/story.
yeah I've been having that problem all weekend too Zane. I'm just pausing them until they finish loading now - it's so annoying when a song stops just when you're getting into it!
I work for a Dublin company now Kevin and am over a fair bit. The legions of Polish girls are HONEYS and giving the beautiful Dublin girls a run for their money.. :)
Absolute genius. This shows why I believe you are one of the best - no frills, no synthesizers, no tricks - simply pure, raw talent. Thanks for sharing.
This is superb. The lyrics took me along for the ride, and really conveyed the bittersweetness St Patrick's Day: fond memories that obviously still make you smile, but a touch of sadness that you can't be there. Musically, well it's great but that's a given anyway. Loved the vocal harmony.
And the video? I'm just jealous that I didn't come up with the idea of turning the lyrics into a conversation like that!

Where do you normally perform?

Hi Pati,
Thanks for the comment. Jimmy Nesbitt is a name I am not really familiar with but I will look it up - I don't know how optimistic I am ;o)
I am really only playing in Germany at the moment - to expand further would indeed be nice. Thanks again for the support!

Any chance to hear the story you are telling? From your facial expressions it seem to be interesting.
I like that song, it goes well with beer as I have found out ^^
psychomessiahs 4 years ago
Hi Andreas,
The story is basically me saying the lyrics, but in a storytelling way. So there's almost nothing but 'hum, hah' that's not in the song lyrics.
I have lots of beer tonight - I suspect it's a bit too sentimental for alcohol - that's my opinion now!
