It's not a kerry but an overton. on chiffandfipple was interviewed Cormac.
Who made your Overton F?
Well, it is an Overton, or "new" Overton whistle which I got cut by Cillian Ó Briain to fit a "tuner" - an aluminum slide on it. It is a very temperamental instrument which would drive any Sound Engineer mad as the tone changes so often in studio!

A little update on the title of the jig; its called "The Shores of Loch Ghamhna" and it can be found on the Deiseal-album called "The Long Long Note". Many thanks to feilimb for providing the info.
Is this jig recorded on a Deiseal album, or was this just a live set? Can someone give me the name of the original jig with 100% accuracy? It would also be great to know what Deiseal has named this track if it has been recorded.
Cormac tells me the tracks are "Adele" and "Sporting Paddy", and these tracks were recorded some years later on his album Musical Journey (but not with the other musicians in this video)
@feilimb Cormac's memory must be playing tricks! The first tune is The Shores of Lough Gowna, the second in the set (which is missed out here) is Aoibhneas Ui Cheallaigh. He recorded them on The Long Long Note. In any case, Sporting Paddy is a reel.
This man got me playing the low whistle years ago. Heard the Deiseal track of Si Beag Si Mor and I was hooked. Wonderful to see them "live" on YouTube;) - Zac
Is it just me or does the guy on bass looks like he should have been on Father Ted? ;)

Yeah Kerry or Tony Dixion, its possible to do it in D just transpose the key although i wish people would do a tab for stuff like this

Absolutely emotion evoking. What a fantastic fusion of contemporary jazz and a rocking reel.

Sorry, I don't want to spoil your party, but it's not a reel - it's a jig...
But never mind, it's absolutely brilliant, that's what matters.
renderizer01 3 years ago
whats the differnce between a jig and a reel?
baka6660 3 years ago
Easy enough: a reel is in 4/4 time, a jig is in 6/8.
