I lived in Seattle at the time this was shooting and saw them filming around town. i was aslo an extra in a scene when Mykelti's character was in the police station. :=)
@Saebeck32 I know! it sucks though, the one cop shoots the other cop, he finds cimbal and the one armed man in the building, Shoots and the show ends, I was So pisses
I was in an episode of this show. I dont know which one it was but Tim Daly walks into a bar and there is a guy playing a piano. If anyone has this episode please let me know. Im on his left as soon as he walks in, he kind of brushs up against me as im talking to a girl and i give him the wtf look. lol =)
NEWS FLASH! As of 5/9/11 Movies Unlimited says Warner has Fugitive 2000 "under consideration" for DVD release. No specifics are available at this time, but just the fact it is "under consideration" now is the most hopeful news I've heard about owning my own DVD set!
Some interesting trivia: this version was aired on CBS, as you are aware of. CBS owns the rights to the original series now. However, the remake was produced by Warner Bros. - the studio that did the 1993 movie.
No, the show failed because bottom line is the story had already been told twice before. in the classic series with Jansen and in the Harrison Ford film. We already know what the outcome is going to be. The writing on it was actually solid.
@Clonetrooper1139 Incorrect. It failed because there was no room for two big budget shows. The classic series was great, but it definitely needed an update. The movie was nice, but far too abrupt to compare with the original series.
@Clonetrooper1139 Oh definitely. CSI was the clear choice. I mean, The Fugitive update was good for what it was, but it didn't have the viewership at the time, while CSI did. It would have made no logical sense to fund two big-budget shows at the same time when one was underperforming.
@mastermold2011 Debatable, though I see what you mean. I would not have minded the more physically intensive Kimble. After all, Harrison Ford pretty much introduced that into the mythos. But I can see how nostalgists who remember the original series would not appreciate the change.
As far as the cast, Tim Daly seemed like he was handling the role well. Mykelti Wiliamson could have done well also. Truth be told, they never got the chance to exhibit their talent.
@Shareallicu Because it aired back in 2000. TiVo was just barely released in the spring of '99. There are few who are aware of the show's existence, making a release of the series to DVD unpractical.
@canestrelle Nope- the show was cancelled after only one season. I believe the producers were probably planning to do a second season continuing from the cliffhanger at the end of the last episode- but the show probably ended up getting dicontinued like it did because the ratings were too low. The fans unfortunately will never know exactly what happened to the good guys or if the bad guys actually won. I have never seen an episode of this show myself- but I have read all the summaries for them.
The unfortunate problem of this new version of THE FUGITIVE was that it had to live up to expecation of the the beloved television show that David Janassen starred in and the Harrison Ford movie version and because of that I knew it would fail because it had that history no matter how good this verision was, which is sad. I always say if you remake a television show or a movie remake a bad one not a good one. HOLLYWOOD ARE YOU LISTENING???????????/
@Shazam961 But it was made by some of teh same people as the 60's show. Tim Daly's father was in one of the original epiwsodes too. And they took the production on the road !! And now instead we have "reality" ????shows and frigging Lady Ga-Ga ??? Paris Hilton etc etc
it's disappointing there's only 22 episodes of the television remake of The Fugitive

@Clonetrooper1139 Also the approach they took with this show was totally wrong. It was too big, too much like an action movie and very miscast.

Or that the show sucked and was nothing like the original David Jansen series.
That is WHY it failed.

@Shazam961 It failed because it aired during the first season of CSI. It was far too expensive to produce next to another big budget series.
