He might be fast, but it sounds horrible. Speed is nothing, and anyone can play fast if they give practice a good shot, but it's not music if it does not contain emotion. The element of good music is emotion and most people don't seem to realise that.
The world fastest is a pointless achievement. Anyone can train for years on developing speed without any musical knowledge. It's like any form of physical training. With that said, the only guitarist that ever use speed in a form of music was Shawn lane and he did most of it at the end of his songs. He was talented both technically and musically. I like to add that most of his licks are consider the most technical too i.e stuff vega taps Lane does with one hand.

Certainly guitar players like Angus Young don't have the technicality of many of lesser known advance guitarist like Shawn lane but are still famous. I play in a band and been practicing many of Lane's licks,. I would eventually post some videos on youtube. I love musical composition if you would like to learn some it can teach you
@4thlord51 very true. shawn lane knew how to hold his technical ability back and play from his heart. This guy may have won a world record for speed (which is a great achievment i have to say), but all i hear from him is fast nintendo licks and random little exercises. lane played whatever he felt. he read many books on music theory and studied jazz and classical music. most of his is influenced by piano players and classical compositions which gave him a unique wide range of musical interlect.
@petermccoll Thank you and well said. It's best to remember that music is art. Like any art, music is a medium that is a transfer of emotion from the artist to audience. Speed should be only use as an accent to the three basic structures of music which is Melody, Rhythm and Harmony. It should never take center stage. That's why Lane only played fast near the end of his songs.
take an acoustic guitar, switch off fuzz, reverb, make a clear sound with enough highs (treble) and do the same thing. Then i will stop to say it is fake.

Michael Angelo is more of a guitar player and musician than you will ever understand. I met the man. He's made his living off of shred metal,but he is fluent in jazz and other styles as well. He was a session guitarist, doing numerous jingles. His attitude toward people like you is basically that its amazing that the only people who criticize him for shredding are the one's that can't do it. When he does his clinics, he uses whatever guitar (Dean of course)or amp they have in store.
I honestly dont know if I am more impressed with his pickhand or his frethand....this is just incredible. I usually have probs with my left keeping up with the pick hand but his left looks like its just...like sliding all over but am sure in super slow-mo we can actually see those fingers lifting up and coming down lol. I respect him for being the fastest guitarist in the world, but I have yet to see him to a song with more feel rather than shredding it up. Don`t get me wrong, I know that shred can be melodic but this is going to the extremes where it cant be melodious at all.
Michael Angelo Batio still makes some decent songs though, so does Yngwie, sure most of their songs are wankfests but they still make SOME cool songs unlike this guy who is all shred all the time
This is an exaggeration of what's up with all the shredders- blindingly fast picking, shaky, undeveloped and unmusical vibrato.
That said, he is young and has a lot of promise. One can be a slave to the technique in which they excel. I am not being a hater, I'm hoping that this ultra shredder writes some cool songs so he can become the full package.

But his development is not finished, he likely will now start developing other techniques, such as bending and vibrato. So we'll have to wait and see. Compositional skills are what will separate him from the others in the "ultrashredder" class.
@dzzzt69 i gotcha. check out Tiago Della Vega - Isabella . he uses those techniques. It's all in what you want to play. Probably just like every artist out there, he will eventually slow down and use more dynamics rather than techniques further down his time line.
How can anybody for one second compare this guy to Malmsteen? Do you even know who Yngwie Malmsteen even is? his a god compared to this twat, this isnt music, yes its guitar talent but thats all it is, theres no depth to this type of sound. honestly I don't like this. Yes it is true that his technique is outstanding. however, it is much to fast to even be considered musical. to me it sounded more like sirens than it did guitar shredding. if he slowed down to the speeds of the other shredders and tried to put emotion into his music, he would be a whole lot better. just my opinion
he is speed but for me he is just a classic guitarist and the things that he plays are exercises nothing more

Ha Thats funny. At the end of the video he attempts to play something with some actual phrasing and it sounds like shit. Shitty vibrato and licks. I respect him for being the fastest guitarist in the world, but I have yet to see him to a song with more feel rather than shredding it up. Don`t get me wrong, I know that shred can be melodic but this is going to the extremes where it cant be melodious at all.

This is an exaggeration of what's up with all the shredders- blindingly fast picking, shaky, undeveloped and unmusical vibrato.
That said, he is young and has a lot of promise. One can be a slave to the technique in which they excel. I am not being a hater, I'm hoping that this ultra shredder writes some cool songs so he can become the full package.

But his development is not finished, he likely will now start developing other techniques, such as bending and vibrato. So we'll have to wait and see. Compositional skills are what will separate him from the others in the "ultrashredder" class.

@dzzzt69 i gotcha. check out Tiago Della Vega - Isabella . he uses those techniques. It's all in what you want to play. Probably just like every artist out there, he will eventually slow down and use more dynamics rather than techniques further down his time line.

honestly I don't like this. Yes it is true that his technique is outstanding. however, it is much to fast to even be considered musical. to me it sounded more like sirens than it did guitar shredding. if he slowed down to the speeds of the other shredders and tried to put emotion into his music, he would be a whole lot better. just my opinion
