i dont think i would trust a water cool system especialy if i built it my self insted of a a pro cuase with my lucj it would spring a leak and mess up my system
My god, that is the loudest water cooling system I have ever heard. I've seen simaler setups that where a LOT quiter. Is it the pump making all the noise?
I've been considering upgrading to a really insane watercooling setup like this one but having waterblocks on everything. Hard drive, cpu, 2 x gpu, ram, everything on the motherboard, just a waterblock on every single thing possible. My theory for this is that you won't need any fans except for the radiator and i'd have them blowing the hot air into the case but that wouldn't be an issue really as there wouldn't be any need to have air circulation inside the case.
Nice job building you rig, WC looks great. But for watercooling that makes way, way to much noise. I had to put ear plugs in. LOL Is all that noise coming from your rad or maybe tjharlow's furnance LOL What components are you running and are you overclocking?
The vast majority of the noise is coming from 6 80mm TT 74cfm fans (inlet/outlet case), and to a lesser degree 3 120mm 90cfm Turbine 2000 or something piece of shit fans that I replaced (for the radiator). I'd had the same 80mm TT fans on my previous system, so I was used to it... although I certainly won't say I miss the jet landing noise, lol. All the specs are in video description, click 'more info'.
@lurdt why not just got 120 all round with medium speed, they are inaudible and push more air, and using 38mm on the radiator fans to have more air pressure. Nice PC, too much noise :(
It's a bit messy, I have to agree. I needed more holes for grommets through the motherboard tray to hide the wires behind the tray. Also, having the liquid system designed with so many Ys is overkill, as I've tested it with everything in line and with each block getting fresh water via a Y; the difference is negligible. I've improved all that on my new system. Of course the noise is horrible from the high RPM 80mm fans, but I fixed that with 120mm fans on my new boxen as well.
???so now u have a new system with a new water cooling??? i still think this pc is great!! lol i want ur water cooling kit, cuz all i got is stock!!! lol
Hope you're replacing that 9500 with a Phenom II 940 :) That cooling is wasted on the 9500, and imagine the overclock you could achieve with a 940 :O 4.0 - 4.4GHz anyone? :)
Liquid cooling is for overclocking... but depending on ur setup u can make ur system REALLY quiet or REALLY loud. I would say he is not exactly looking for a quiet system with tripple 120mm rads.
A leak in and of itself isn't that bad, as the coolant is non-conductive. A spill on clean components isn't going to hurt anything. However, if you don't keep everything free of dust and a spill or leak happens, then you are in trouble. Enough foreign containments and the coolant becomes conductive again.
There isn't a set level for noise in liquid cooling... a high end multiple 360mm radiator system can be quite loud. If you think these fans are loud, try Delta high RPM 80mm fans. These are 48db, Delta fans are 65db. Noise wasn't a concern for this build.
If noise is your primary concern, try mineral oil submersion. That's on par with a fanless liquid system built for silence, only for a good deal less cost.
My Quad Extreme system only 4 fans, one for power adaptor, one for CPU, one for Hard drive, of cause AGP came one too. Temperature inside PC stable at 80 to 90 F*. Working great. However, I will recommend people choose a good case, especially the case have open top, hot air will more easier get out by itself.
You are confused, jnnycliff... this is liquid cooling. Than fans aren't the primary cooling element and they can be turned down. I use 2 inlet, 4 outlet 80mm fans, 3 120mm fans for the radiator. The rest is cooled by liquid, not air.
I would also hope you don't use AGP in your "Quad Extreme" system, lol.
cuz u dont push ur system to its max, like a gamming pc would, for normal stuff u could udsea dual core not core 2 duo i mean dua and u would feels the same
Swiftech MCP655 im wondering is that pump good for using it with hydraulics? please get back to me on that soon and if you know of a good cheaper hydraulic pump thats not too big then could you tell me. I would really appreciate it.
The NexXxos X2 Bold Highflow and the DTEK FuZion perform nearly equally in high flow 1/2" or larger systems from the tests I've read. Not sure about the EK Supreme, but I'm sure it performs less or equal to the other two.
Nah, my next build will be ridiculous. This is pretty moderate. I get 40c-42c idle to 44-46c load on the cpu/gpu. They run within 1 degree of each other. The drives are about 30c on the WD's, 35c on the Seagate because it's a piece of shit that runs hot for no reason.
My next system will likely be 2 Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9750's, 2 mobos and 6 EVGA 9800 GX2's all liquid cooled with probably 1 9x120mm rad + 2 x 360mm and 2 to 4 pumps. That is ridiculous ;x.
It's an XSPC Dual 5.25 bay reservoir from performancepcs com. DO NOT get the Icebox Dual 5.25 bay rez they carry, unless you use PC Ice or distilled water (not sure I would trust it even then). Especially if want to run a good coolant like FluidXP+ HP/Ultra... it will leak like an old prostitute. I had an Icebox leak from every seal point :|.

That is what it sounds like normally, with the fans turned down to about 35%. Yes, high rpm 80mm fans are LOUD... extremely loud. I plan to do 120mm fans all around on my next build, but for the budget the PC75 case was the best bang for the buck.
I had high rpm 80mm fans on my previous system, so I'm used to it.
That is sort of a myth, in testing flow wins every time. The more water you move over a heated surface, the cooler that surface will be. It's all about surface area and flow until you get into material thermal conductivity... and no one can argue here, copper is the only option. I could definitely get several degrees cooler with PC Ice vs. FluidXP+ (but the FluidXP+ is non-corrosive which is worth it to me).
Plain distilled water is even more efficient, but FluidXP+ HP wins out overall for me.
I didn't quite see the radiator grill up the top. Is it three custom grills or a comercially sold radiator grill? E.g. - A.C. Ryan's RadGrillz - UV reactive tripple radiator grill.
Also another question: IS it possible to have too much water pressure/too many pumps - I have a stock Appogee CPU pump on the block - and I want to add another pump: e.g - Aphacool Laining DDC Ultra or Swiftech MCP655 - if I add one of these pumps to the loop - will the water pass over the copper heat spreader too fast and not dissapate heat correctly. - this can happen, would it happen at this scale?
It's a Kikbox radgrill, so yeah, commercially available. As far as too many pumps... I should clarify my statement "flow wins everytime" a bit. In this case, "flow" refers more to the AMOUNT of liquid being moved, rather than it's speed.
Yes, it's possible to move water too fast... as might happen if you put a Swiftech MCP-655 into a 1/4" ID hose system. To answer your question... I would only use that many pumps in a large volume system, IE: 1/2" or larger tube, 320mm or larger rad.
did i say 317 gallon per minute? i didn't have a soundcard installed when i posted this... first time i have actually listened to it, heh. 317 gallon per HOUR. anyway.
idle temps are 40c/104f gpu, 41c/105f cpu, mb 38c/102f
that's down from an idle of about 145f on the gpu... load temps i'll have to get later. i got a new rma'ed 8800 gtx sc yesterday. i'm gonna go own up some bf2142 with my 8800 gtx superclocked for the first time in all it's liquid cooled goodness :D!
yeah, i have it turned up full blast there. i'll have to make a video comparing the box at 50% vs 100% etc. i have all 6 thermaltake smart fan II's hooked up to a sunbeam 30amp rheobus... i usually run them 50% during normal idling, chatting or whatever. then crank it to full jet airliner when gaming or using anything system intensive.
of course i'm used to my last box with basically the same smart fan II's, just without led blue lights or a rheobus. all 75cfm and 48db in it's full glory, lol.
sounds like a delta 5200 rpm fan... great product.. a bit loud.. but should only be loud when gaming/ benchmarking... fan controllers ftw?
