I live in South Carolina, but I love Atlanta, so shut up. Anways, it was an F2 that formed with help of the drought in the area. It caused a lot of damage, and as this is typed, I was at Atlanta on 3/27/2009 and there is still a lot of damage. It looks better, though.
everybody whos saying atlanta should be wiped of the map are STUPID!!I hope wherever you live will be wiped off the map!!! ya i lived near atlanta during that tornado so SHUT UP!
ok all the people who think they know everything and who dont live in georgia, shouldnt talk because only the people who live in that area know what it was like and i lived there so ya.
dude my dad was driving home on 400 and the tornado hit his car, luckly he was driving a truck and his all 4 of his mirrors were broken, there were dent in his car and everything
I live in Polk County, GA where one of the fatalities from this storm occured. Another fatality occured in Floyd County, and one person died in Atlanta. His body was found in the Omni Hotel a few days after the tornado struck. The tornado that hit Polk, Floyd, and Bartow counties was an EF3 with winds up to 150 mph. The one in Atlanta was an EF2 with winds up to 135 mph.
the size doesn't matter. and ef 2 going through downtown atlanta is worse than an ef 4 in some rural buttfuck kansas town, the more buildings the more destruction.
I Was There My Hotel Was Right Next To Cenntinal Park Were The Light Towers Fell And A Few Blocks Away Was The CNN Center And Omni Hotel And A Few More Blocks Was The Westin Round Hotel And The World Congress Center And My Dad Was At The Dome For The Games And Those Hotels Had A Lot Of Damage To Them And My Hotel Were I Was Staying Got Two Windows Blown Out On The Opposite Side But Nobody Was Hurt At My Hotel
i am i california and i didnt know it was so bad , we didnt get the news coverage that we should have gotten , i feel so sorry for the people that lot there homes
i live in downtown and when it hit, it scared the crap out of me! i have friends that have lost homes. how could you people be so cruel to state that it wasn't that bad or maybe we deserved this? i pray for you people!
They are running out of water because they took down the Ten Commandments. They are going to Hell soon. Less they take back Georgia. Satan is wipping ass. Add the Dome the lack of water and the rash of hurrcanes and thats a number of strikes. Start a trend Geogians put a GuideStone with the ten Commandments on your lawn in defiance, rebuke the Devil. Do'nt let the Devil win.
Hey dumbasses this was peoples homes why dont you shut the hell up who cares what size the tornado it happened and where not used to the shit so shut the fuck up dumbasses
a tornado is a tornado, regardless of where it is. most areas hit by F3,4 and 5's are in wide open places, such as in "tornado alley". rarely do these things happen in big cities, especially right downtown of a major city the size of atlanta. so yes, for the people who live here, like myself, this was SOMETHING.
that was a WEAK WEAK WEAK tornado...if you can even call it a tornado... just because it looks like a tornado...doesnt mean it really is...i would call that high winds
Last year on my street 7 homes were completely destroyed (Columbus GA) youtube that if you want to see damage. A few pieces of roofing off a couple of hotels come on. Im glad no one was hurt, but we lost part of our roof, and 9 trees too.
I remember a tornado that hit the CSU campus and surrounding area about - wow - 10 years ago. It was around 5:00 and we were about to leave work that day when we were hustled into the basement of a classroom building. The sky was green, I swear. They had some temp. buildings in the field near I-185, and one got picked up and tossed into the middle of the interstate. Fiberglass insulation, siding, splintered wood was everywhere! What a mess!
The F scale no longer exists. February 2007 it got replaced with the EF scale. Enhanced Fujita scale. NWS placed this tornado in a prelimenary report at an EF 2.
actually this did happen, it was all over the news, so unless u live under a rock, u should know that. also, i believe there were no fatalities, although many were hurt by the tornado that hit atl.
Just because you live in a big city does not mean you are invincible from tornadoes. Birmingham alabama almost got destroyed when a F5 leveled oak grove and some other suburbs just west of it then the F5 spun off a FO through my neiborhood but the F5 remained a funnel cloud over Birmingham and went on to dump all the stuff it picked up in the next county. If it had touched down like this I'd say F3 in Atlanta it could of been real bad.

There was no causalities from this tornado thank god. However there were 2 people killed today(the day after the atl tornado) in a metro county from a tornado.

What a messed up thing to say. Atlanta is a wonderful city and we've been through some of the worst weather in our history in the past 24 hours and sustained somewhere near 200 million dollars worth of damage.. so how about giving us a break!!!
Looks like F3 damage to me.
