I found out that NRM got too money desperate and sold her boiler. B@$T@RD$! Well, they built the Tornado, so I'm sure they can build a new boiler for it... within the next several years.
Shes still running but when she got out of restoration most of her originality was gone,She now has smoke deflectors and two chimers and a double stack, what have they done to her?
FFS do these people seriously dont know wot a freakin overhaul is? bloody hell, Bacially New boiler, OK? usual thing happens all the time, its routine, so FFS idiots stop panicing
I wish the US and the UK wren't so quick to dump all steam engines in the 50's and 60's. Steam engines are truly a thing of beauty. Even many people interviewed who have worked on steam engines say what a wonderful experience it is. It's like the engine literally comes alive. It almost becomes a living breathing thing.
there are four steam locomotives in Collie Western Australia. Just sitting in an outside museum rusting away. There all together and look beautiful but its a shame the locos might be scraped.
I do not know ten year overhaul well. Perhaps, I think that is dismantle overhaul obligated every ten years.
The follows are quotation from the sites of the NRM.
Flying Scotsman is currently in the National Railway Museum's Workshop, part way through its ten year overhaul...Notwithstanding any unforeseen circumstances, the locomotive will be pulling passenger trains in the 2009 season,
This will be the most comprehensive overhaul Flying Scotsman will have had since 1967, and she will run beautifully, that I am sure of.
Fitted with AWS, TPWS, and vacuum brakes only (unsure why not both at present), and in what is most likely to be double chimney with smoke deflectors, she will look quite a sight.
Funny enough, thats how she is now again.

Will be worth the wait when she's finished. if she's coming out with double chimney & smoke deflectors, then surely she should turned in BR Green.
LNER green & smoke deflectors isnt right.
SilsdenCougar 2 years ago
@SilsdenCougar she was originally made in LNER apple green, so LNER apple green she's staying
