  • Topper "fucking" Headon. Holy shit, what a drummer!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh shit, now I gotta burn down London.

  • Woah!! Thats a lot people to perform in front of I would probably have a nervous breakdown!!!

  • lol my dad was at this gig

    he is 50

  • What a great crowd!

  • I wasn't even born back then, but listening to the songs now I can't see what the fuss is about with the sex pistols. All their songs sound shit where with the clash you can obviously see they had a lot more quality and musical style. Any1 else think the same or am I just missing something with the sex pistols?

  • @fleming140 the pistols were all about their image ... clash did what they thought was right not because they wanted to look a certain way

  • @fleming140 totally agree! I don't understand what the big deal is! Sid Vcious is the worst bassist ever!

  • @fleming140 Yes you are missing something!

  • time machine. now. i want to go back to this moment.

  • This is the last song Joe and Mick would play together just 5 weeks before Joe's death... :(

  • I've seen The Clash and The Damned. Loved 'em both, but, The Clash were far superior for me. Never saw the Pistols so I can't comment. But why argue about who is best? Damn, just enjoy this footage. IT IS AMAZING. I'm from Canada. We had some GREAT punk gands, but nothing like The Clash. The Clash will go down as one of the great rock bands. Period.

  • London is burning literally :D

  • Movie about Joe Strummer in the making :-)

  • @Sportsfanno1 documentary?

  • @petelabeat It's going to be a mix of those two. I don't know all of it. It's about the last years of Joe in The Clash.

  • WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWOWOWOW GREAT FOOTAGE!!!!

  • The Clash Rule

  • the green album...my gawd..every other record seemed so pale and tame compared to this with a few exceptions...met these guys a coupla times...everything they said , did and played rang true for me and still does..london calling and imperial bedroom are the 2 greatest rock records made between 1979 and the dawn of STP/nirvana cum foo fighters era

  • yes they are great but i prefer sex pistols than the clash banshees dickies londons burning great but ive heard better versions of it each to there own we cant all like the same allthe time thats makes us different bach then we were seen as weirdos aleins but it was great i use to love pogo n ,have u heard of head games there good .rebels with a coures not like jenie, there from stoke and the mac lads are sound

  • 46 people are from london

  • Comment removed

  • this is punk down to a fucking T. and im bloody half swedish!

  • @SonnyJmSonnyJm the clash were good but the pistols ruled punk

  • @paul196824 are you kidding?! The Clash have since been referred to as "the only band that mattered"

The pistols iconicized "hardcore punk" that was popular in the 80s, but a large majority of their popularity was gained after the fact. They were never popular in their time. Especially compared to bands like The Clash and The Ramones etc.

  • @paul196824 The Pistols had some good songs, and I'll credit them for being one of the first to kickstart the punk era, but they were more about attitude than anything else. While all the Pistols could sing about was nihilism & "no future for you," The Clash actually stood for something in their music. They wanted you to get off your ass and DO SOMETHING about your crappy life and the world's injustices. They weren't called "the thinking man's yobs" and "the only band that matters" for nothing.

  • @iwantcompletecontrol the Pistols had SOME? good songs. i would take any ONE song, off their one, only album..and put it up against all the sing-songy,,,la dee daaa type songs of da Clash. what this band does in not PUNK,,,it is toned down ska,,,and it is more POP than punk. sorry,,,this stuff is totally record executives need for middle of the road kids..to buy this yogurt. the Pistols and The Damn rammed it down your throat.. to get up and destroy the past.,,and create a newness. momma's boy.

  • @CHUCKLOVES1969 Hahaha, that's gotta be the funniest thing I've read in a while. You obviously know NOTHING about The Clash and their music. "la dee daaa" songs? Sorry that their musical progression is too much for you to handle. I guess they should've imploded like the Pistols after one snotty album, or played the same song over and over again like the Ramones. The Clash were not lightweight by any means. Perhaps their songs are over your head, or you only know "Should I Stay or Should I Go".

  • @iwantcompletecontrol i have to tell you flat-out...this is Clash song and all their others,,is nothing short of a sugary pop drink for children. the pistols and the damned back then, were pouring out voda and fantastic blended scotch....fact is...i'm not going argue with someone who doesn't know the difference...or who is probably to young to even drink. u can have this sing sony,,,la la la.we are tough guys BS....i'd rather have the real deal,,,and the quantity doesn't matter,,it's quality.

  • @CHUCKLOVES1969 Anyone who thinks the Pistols were better than the Clash in any way, shape, or form - especially when it comes to QUALITY, of all things! - is a moron. "We are tough guys BS"? That's the Pistols in a nutshell. They are the ABSOLUTE, HANDS-DOWN EPITOME of "we are tough guys BS." Talk about someone who isn't worth arguing with! Go ahead with your incredibly convincing alcoholic drink references and enjoy your brainless music. The Clash is clearly a band for THINKING people.

  • fuck libya..

  • isso é incrivelmente absurdo e histórico.

  • WHYY wasn't i born back then?! :(

  • @ThisIsEnglaaand i was, rhs far corner with a blonde in tow, it wasn't 80000 more like 800000

  • @ThisIsEnglaaand beacuse we born in a wrong generation

  • @ThisIsEnglaaand I was somewhere in the left hand side of the crowd!

  • @ThisIsEnglaaand Why wasn't I born in England?!

  • Alright, sorry to spam and that shit but please listen to this track by us,

The Autons - Came N Ran

its inspired by The Clash and the UK riots of 2011, cheers for your time x

  • @TheAutonsUK

If it's rap I'm seriously gonna kill you.

  • holy shit. look at the energy in that crowd.

  • 80,000 there? Was more like 250,000! In all events, seeing the Clash live (esp for nothing) was one of the best parts of a very interesting year :)

  • Happy birthday Joe!!! <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • where is music like this 2day?

  • I wanna play this in the totenham riots. :)

  • I've been saying this the whole time. The Clash predicted this.....

  • @Evan42881 its not a prediction its what they thought may happen at the time but times are harder know then you cant get job atall

  • @paul196824 good point.

  • billy and the rockets2 rock sound click.com

  • The Clash were the greatest fucking band of the twentieth century.

  • a great song...even better live. A rare quality in music

  • Heal london Heal

cos we love the Clash, the Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, The Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd etc etc.. Peas, love and understanding my brethrens and sisters

  • @WWF4200. You speak English, You American cunt !!!

  • 46 people's burning...

  • the first song i thought of on sunday when i heard about the riots

  • NOBODY CARES IF LONDON IS BURNING. THE WORLD DOESNT CARE. ONLY YOU BLOODY ENGLISH WANKERS

  • @WWF4200 So what you doing here dick breath?

  • Libya should arm London rebels to protect civilians from government forces

  • Prophecy... perhaps.

  • sadly the thugsare taking over the citycops should smash some heads now....lousy ass thugs should be deported now....wtf

  • @ManagFTW66 Precisely why they are rioting in the first place. The cops shot a guy dead after saying he opened fire. The ballistic report showed the gun in question had not been fired.

  • @Easyandy100 Duggan had a real, loaded and unlicensed gun on him. That's why. So, we would prefer if one of our coppers were killed? Someone doing their job and trying to keep the peace?

  • @kellygiluk Not at all. If that is the case, then why lie? The gun was not fired. Plenty of cops, unfortunately, do not just keep the peace but pervert the law. Currently one of the biggest cases of corruption going on with the 'Cardiff Three'. The hardline our American friend puts forward; 'smash heads', 'deported now' cannot be taken seriously. No matter how much your sensibilites are offended, what happened was and is a damning indictment of British society and not simply criminal action.

  • @Easyandy100 maybe you should see the zeitgeist movie... addendum

  • @ragenlove93 Sounds a bit 'out there' for me. My issue is with the use of the hardline that firstly, has no history of being effective and secondly, will eventually erode away at even law abiding citizens freedoms and thirdy, is in no way aligned to the crimes committed. The punishment must be proportional to the crime. For example, four years jail for using Facebook to incite disorder is absurd.

  • Tokyo ,Osaka ,Kyoto&other all Japanese cities are not burning now. It's very peaceful Japan. About get sick.....

  • London is a war zone right now

  • heard this in a bar in edinburgh while they had the bbc news on their widescreen tv - taking the piss - they sure hate the english them cunts

  • LONDON ´S BURNING IN 2011

  • Coming soon to an American 'burb near you.

  • this is the first thing that came into my mind after hearing the news of the rioting

  • seems a fitting song at the moment

  • Londons burning.... Its been stuck in my head for three days, I wonder why?

  • london burn 2011 / hehehehe !!!

  • Se quema Londres! OMG

  • The entire point of the song is about the lights, not to do with the actual burning of buildings.

  • For all the pain and suffering you have and continue to cause the world England no-one pities you. As Tolstoy said: Suffer in your jocks

  • And Strummer is great but c'mon guys this isn't a prophecy, if you actually listen to the lyrics.

  • Within 10 minutes of finding out about the riots I felt the urge to listen to this song. But obviously London is burning with more than just boredom right now.

  • libya recognises london rebels as legitimit government of uk

  • @alargedog lololololol best comment ever

  • @rockfan666X

Yep, R.A.R, I'm in that mess somewhere, steel pulse and X ray specs too, crazy day.

  • and people ask us why we dont like music of today...

  • The killer here is that this show was probably around $5-$10 U.S.!

  • @jduluoz3131 They were free concerts called Rock Against Racism. Loads of great bands of the day were on them and you could see them all over the uk. Its when music and kids still had some soul.

  • @flairgybe They were for an awesome cause as well, one of the more reasons they were fantastic

  • christ i wish i wasnt 16 and had been around then!

  • I wish the youth of today understood, were taught, the history that brought no few of them to such a pass as they find themselves in. Not Hip Hop, not Ganstarap, not cell phones, but now largely ignored seminal roots in 70s punk and social discontent after the post 60s sell outs and the big bands moving on up.

  • Oh god why i am born in wrong time?! >.<

  • I wish I was there. I watch this everyday.

  • @eastlake93

    I WAS there!

    JS R.I.P

  • This rocks! Have you ever seen an audience so wound up?

  • ''''

  • this is unbelievably good considering its a live performance!

  • Check out Estonian "version" -- Velikie Luki "Tallinn põleb" ("Tallinn burning", but the line "London burning" sounds almost like "Tallinn põleb")

  • I was listening to this song the other day, a "friend" asked me who was it and when I answered The Clash he said "Oh.. I don't know them, is it a new band?"

I was born 15 years after that., and I HATE my generation ><
