i find despicable how TAKE UP THE CROSS is not on the list, that song put so much energy to ToP battle, its even a more enjoyable theme than fighting of the spirit
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Tales Of Phantasia. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
Sounds like the original but something is missing...? It sounds a little off, I played this on SNES and GBA. I hear there is a playstation version, I have yet to try that. But the SNES was the best version by far.
You should have seen what the GBA did to the part of the song at 1:08 to 1:30. It was on piano. It sounded more like it belonged in Kingdom Hearts than in a Tales game.
Many a party death to this song. Extremely difficult battle system to get the hang of, if only it was so clunky. Cless was easy enough to control, but gimping the game with Teleport... eh no thanks.
I still want to play the PS1 version that's been supposedly revamped combat-wise.
Tales of Phantasia? Isn't that the game on the Game Boy with Cress Albane and the not so hawt cleric chick and other guys? I played it, lost a lotta times cause the battle system was too hard to get used to, and sold it.
No need to feel stupid for it. The gba version kinda sucked for various reasons. Mostly because they fucked up the battle system (it felt painfully slow/delayed compared to other versions of the game) and the music (also way better in the other versions).
Very nice music. I'm gonna have to play the game sometime (snes). I played a little few months ago and it looked like it's great. Especially the story :)
It was in ToS, Phantasia, Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, and Radiant Mythology 2. There's also been a handful of remixes, but SFC/PSX Phantasia, and ToS, are definitely the best incarnations of this song.
Really? I only heard this in one of the trailers for Tales of the Tempest... And Namco always reuses songs for their trailers (They used Edge of an Oath from Rebirth for the first Abyss trailer)
You're not missing much anyway. ToT was a pretty terrible game, then suddenly Innocence and Hearts knocked the bar skyhigh and easily rival some of the console Tales as a game.
Not that it matters since Namco refuse to localize any of the 3 DS Tales.
Unfortunately... I'd really like to play Hearts in English... At least there's the patch for Innocence, which is supposed to be released by the end of the summer.
Ye, it's truly odd of them, its not like these games really have that much voice acting, and the DS is the most popular Handheld atm. They don't have much to lose when bringing it over, if anything they can hope to gain money out of it.
I'm aware of the difference. In contrast, I find all of Dhaos' battle themes to be far better than any of Mithos'. Especially Decisive, I believe- the song first heard at the beginning of the game as all the parents fight Dhaos to seal him.
Actually, the fight at the beginning is their ancestors (They're given names in a drama CD, I think, but one of them is Edward D. Morrison). The Indignation forces him to jump through time and that's when the parents of the heroes seal Dhaos.
The ancestors are replaced by Cless' party when you change the timeline - They were going to be the ones to fight Dhaos.
A minor detail, I suppose, but I think it's important :'D.
Cless and Mint's descendants would be their children. The people who came before them are called Ancestors. So, yes. They are Cless and Mint and Tornix Morrison's ANCESTORS. Because this is in the PAST.
For clarification: Ancestors are prior generations- the people who inhabit the past. Descendants are the people who come afterwards- the people who inhabit the future.
Dhaos is defeated in the past by the ancestors of Cless and Mint and Tornix, and then he jumps through time to where Cless and Mint's parents are waiting for him and then they seal him away with the pendants, setting the stage for Phantasia.
Song fucking blows, just as does most of the Tales games.

Supposedly? More like massively. Compared to the newer games the PSX version's battle system still very clunky, but it still runs VERY smoothly.

Excellent choice, as always.
The keyboard score in the background of the song reminds me of Keyboard Cat for some reason.

Yes! The original SNES version of this song is the best

Yea you just cant beat the music from ToP because thats where all the original score for the other derived from.
