  • Song fucking blows, just as does most of the Tales games.

  • i find despicable how TAKE UP THE CROSS is not on the list, that song put so much energy to ToP battle, its even a more enjoyable theme than fighting of the spirit

  • lol.. you should have used the official ToP arrange of it. it was far better......

  • @Celestialuminescence This is the original SNES version.

  • i like the ToS version of this better :(... but yea dont get me wrong this is also damn good!

  • 44? The hell, this should be in top 5.

  • the first version of this song i heard was the gba version...nothing sure beats the original

  • This song makes me CRY, Such epicness.

  • SNES babyyy!!!

could very well be the best version

  • i hope they relese narikiri dungeon 2 in US and EU

  • Fighting of the Spirit best version is definitely on the Tales Of Symphonia version !!!

  • The best RPG that I've played!

  • Sounds like the original but something is missing...? It sounds a little off, I played this on SNES and GBA. I hear there is a playstation version, I have yet to try that. But the SNES was the best version by far.

  • You should have seen what the GBA did to the part of the song at 1:08 to 1:30. It was on piano. It sounded more like it belonged in Kingdom Hearts than in a Tales game.

  • I remember this version having more base to it...

  • Many a party death to this song. Extremely difficult battle system to get the hang of, if only it was so clunky. Cless was easy enough to control, but gimping the game with Teleport... eh no thanks.

I still want to play the PS1 version that's been supposedly revamped combat-wise.

  • Supposedly? More like massively. Compared to the newer games the PSX version's battle system still very clunky, but it still runs VERY smoothly.

  • Tales of Phantasia? Isn't that the game on the Game Boy with Cress Albane and the not so hawt cleric chick and other guys? I played it, lost a lotta times cause the battle system was too hard to get used to, and sold it.

Now I feel like an idiot for doing sellin it.

  • No need to feel stupid for it. The gba version kinda sucked for various reasons. Mostly because they fucked up the battle system (it felt painfully slow/delayed compared to other versions of the game) and the music (also way better in the other versions).

  • Very nice music. I'm gonna have to play the game sometime (snes). I played a little few months ago and it looked like it's great. Especially the story :)

  • Excellent choice, as always.

The keyboard score in the background of the song reminds me of Keyboard Cat for some reason.

  • Yes! The original SNES version of this song is the best

  • @rmsephy I don't know I really like all official versions, and my mood changes with which one I want to hear more, lol.

  • Fighting of the Spirits doesn't need any remixes!

But they've all been good SO FAR, so I won't give any shit. >.>

  • i remember this game it was long 4 disk yet some how i got ahold of all of it on 1 disk

  • Fighting of the Spirit is such a classic Tales track. :D

    Haven't heard this version though.

  • This is THE original Fighting of the Spirit.

  • @YamiSaphira this on is from SNES

  • @YamiSaphira Neither have I, pretty awesome for the SNES

  • Comment removed

  • dude this is AWESOME!!! and btw listen to the Ps1 version in game since there are all kinds of versions out there in form of soundtracks and OST

  • why 44th! It should be 1st!! ^__^

  • I like this version the most I think. even though its old you have to listen to the classic sounds you wont find in the new ones.

  • how many versions of this song are there?

I've heard it in TOS. didn't know there were others.

  • It was in ToS, Phantasia, Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, and Radiant Mythology 2. There's also been a handful of remixes, but SFC/PSX Phantasia, and ToS, are definitely the best incarnations of this song.

  • amazing how you know all the games its in. i only know it from TOS.

  • It was also in Tales of Tempest.

  • Really? I only heard this in one of the trailers for Tales of the Tempest... And Namco always reuses songs for their trailers (They used Edge of an Oath from Rebirth for the first Abyss trailer)

  • You're not missing much anyway. ToT was a pretty terrible game, then suddenly Innocence and Hearts knocked the bar skyhigh and easily rival some of the console Tales as a game.

Not that it matters since Namco refuse to localize any of the 3 DS Tales.

  • Unfortunately... I'd really like to play Hearts in English... At least there's the patch for Innocence, which is supposed to be released by the end of the summer.

  • Ye, it's truly odd of them, its not like these games really have that much voice acting, and the DS is the most popular Handheld atm. They don't have much to lose when bringing it over, if anything they can hope to gain money out of it.

  • My frined is playing Hearts on his Comp. He likes it:3

  • lol this song hella deserves a place on the top 50 fosho xD i have like 3 different versions of this song ^^

  • I love it =)

  • you ready?

    SPREAD!

    watch out for the spell!

    Field barrier!

  • TOS, buddy.

  • why are you saying that? Because I called ToS attacks? yeah ^^

  • this is the best version:

"ToP Fighting of the Spirit Rock-Metal Remix"

but the original SNES version is also great!

    a really catchy tune!

  • I prefer this version than Symphonia version. This is the best game ever ! ^^

  • Actually, I like this better than the Symphonia one.

  • Ready?

    SPREAD!

  • I love this song. :D

But the gba's sounds better somehow. o.o

  • WOW, they could have done better sounds like NES. But the Front part of the song is nice.

  • i prefer the psx version

  • This, and then the Symphonia version.

  • Hands down my #1 fav battle theme

  • Chester FTW!!! Archers are the best.

  • Wow. :)

But I like Symphonia's version better. ''Fighting of the Spirit'', was it?

  • Symphonia's was waaaay better.

  • Granted, Symphonia was a Gamecube game, while this was an SNES one.

  • gj SAMA, way to show these ignorant ppl difference between a GC and SNES.

  • I'm aware of the difference. In contrast, I find all of Dhaos' battle themes to be far better than any of Mithos'. Especially Decisive, I believe- the song first heard at the beginning of the game as all the parents fight Dhaos to seal him.

  • Yea you just cant beat the music from ToP because thats where all the original score for the other derived from.

  • Actually, the fight at the beginning is their ancestors (They're given names in a drama CD, I think, but one of them is Edward D. Morrison). The Indignation forces him to jump through time and that's when the parents of the heroes seal Dhaos.

The ancestors are replaced by Cless' party when you change the timeline - They were going to be the ones to fight Dhaos.

    A minor detail, I suppose, but I think it's important :'D.

  • More like descendants because they're sent BACK in time, not FORWARD

  • Cless and Mint's descendants would be their children. The people who came before them are called Ancestors. So, yes. They are Cless and Mint and Tornix Morrison's ANCESTORS. Because this is in the PAST.

I think you have your words confused.

  • For clarification: Ancestors are prior generations- the people who inhabit the past. Descendants are the people who come afterwards- the people who inhabit the future.

Dhaos is defeated in the past by the ancestors of Cless and Mint and Tornix, and then he jumps through time to where Cless and Mint's parents are waiting for him and then they seal him away with the pendants, setting the stage for Phantasia.

Is all the confusion cleared up, now?

  • OMG! This should be higher up! Fighting of the spirit rocks :O

  • Ya you're right man !!!

  • If you notice, the Symphonia version IS higher.

  • now this is what i'm talkin about, i'm a big fan of the "tales of" games. this is the first i played. i alwaysed liked this piece.

it kind of gives you the spirit to fight all the way.

  • Hence the name. :-p

Though, I agree. I love both versions of this, and couldn't choose between the two. 5/5 Thanks for uploading.
