the problem with VR's is that they're much like an old 8v... reliable as hell.. until you start to boost them or try to make any REAL power out of them... especially the newer ones with the plastic intake manifolds.

a tuned vr in something like a mk2 can hold it's on against MOST road driven v8's on a run what ya brung night.. (a friend of mine was doing 13s consistent in his mk2vr) the disadvantage here is that there's no TDI 02a in 6cyl bellhousings to mate to a vr

To comment on a few points left by people in the comments, a rabbit weighs in at just under 2000lbs (stripped out it should be around 1800lbs) and a 16v g60 should see about 210-220 whp in stock form with a stock pulley on the G60 G-lader charger.

and as far as "v8 top end"... if that rabbit has an early diesel gearbox, he's already got the gears to push well into 6k-7k rpm... put that on top of the power to weight ratio, and it's a done deal. Considering tuned 1.8t's and VR's can outdo v8s...
