  • we doed this on physics lesson its awesome :D

  • @AppleOranges12 You could use this method instead of buying a Gramophone...

  • i wish i knew where to get awesome records offline so i could do this to them

  • just stabilize it all and hook it up to a hamster wheel, good to go

  • That looks sooo unstable.

  • i think someone with rhythm should be turning the record though!

  • WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THIS?!

  • i did it and it didnt ruin any of the records i have. you gotta get the speed just right for it to work

  • It'd be fun to play anti-records in this method.

  • electricity is powering your heart, gotta remove that too

  • and there goes one of the last remaining shellac records

  • @mg426426426 I totally agree, you will destroy your record like that! and shellac records are rare

  • Too cool!

  • You cant please everyone.

  • tried this with my vu and nico mono for that authentic sound.

  • This is cool, but it's really nothing new. The first record players pretty much operated like that. The motor that powered the turntable was wound up, a steel needle traced the grooves and a horn amplified the sound. No electricity of any kind.

  • burn the witch!!!

  • what is this witchcraft

  • Thank you for this cool demonstration. I also have tried sometime, but not with the pavillon. Great.

  • i dont think il be using this on my records

  • My life is complete.

  • my friend at school didd this

  • this is gunna make my parents freak!

  • this is amazing, it works!

  • You are doing not too bad a job at regulating the speed, nice work! I used to enjoy doing this too, bit of humour, good to surprise people who don't know what records are haha

  • THIS IS THE DEVIL

  • Steve Jobs and Apple will be using this soon.

  • @nyhtml no, he won't. =P

  • SERATO ahah

  • wow thats great!

  • ARE YOU JESUS o.o

  • thats so awesome!

  • Really good video!

  • This is why I have a wind-up phonograph.

  • Fake!!

  • @TheTayuco your fuckiing stupid

  • @TheTayuco if u notice the song sometimes speeds up and slows down -_- dur

  • @TheTayuco If you can't understand something, just shut up!

  • @TheTayuco look at the needle when the song starts. Then look where it has moved to by the end of the song. I t isn't fake.

  • Job.

  • that is AWESOME

  • oh wow.

and can you post it to youtube without electricity too?

  • What else did you learn to make in jail?

  • i got paper, pencil, clay, and a needle... crap i dont have a record

  • @loldidyouseethat get one at a car boot (or flea market in US/CAN)

  • sketchy

  • lol the speed at the end

  • And you can change the speed if you want.

  • If there was a snowstorm and a power outage you'd be the first person to leave the cabin.

  • "only try this on records you don't care about"

    "banana boat song"

    lol yep.

  • I'm all for the preservation of vinyl but WHY am I laughing at this? It's hilarious (and amazing) that THIS SETUP (not necessarily the mechanical playing of records itself) can be done.

  • OMG this is unbelievable !Great :D:D:D

  • awesome but how the hell did he make the pencil freestand ?

  • where can i buy one of those?

man this was absolutely funny and awesome , doesn't matter if there's no electricity the vinyl is always playin!!

  • @Elektriber do you mean the record player or the record he is playing?

  • @pongboy1100

it was just a joke =)

  • @Elektriber okay :) i was already thinming: is he dumb?

  • @pongboy1100

i think he's very intelligent for coming up with something like this , it was just the way he done it that i found funny.

  • @Elektriber no.. this is not something he came with the idea this idea is already done 100 years ago! The first record players didn't use electricity and were just a turning mechanisme that you had to wind up and then put the needle on it... I builded my own one to... i will try to upload a vid about it for you :)

  • @pongboy1100

    exactly , a gramophone .

but still funny about all the materials he used , plus he is rotating the vinyl manually , hard to maintain the rpm.

  • @Elektriber yeah treu.. i build mine out of meccano.

And to let the record turen you must turn a little krank on the side... i will try to put it tommorow on youtube

  • @pongboy1100 yea let me know when it's up.

  • 這才是真正的曲盤演奏家!

  • you have my deepest respect Sir.

  • you have my deepest respect Sir.

  • I also have a recordplayer for 78 rpm records, en that player does'nt require electricity at all. The brand name is "his masters voice" , does that ring a bell?

  • @sjikkerfritsradio

you looking to sell it? lol iwould buy it off of you.

  • What is the song?

  • @2tur 0:27

  • 2 steps:

1.put the end of a mechanical pencil on it

    2.turn it with you finger

  • hahhahha.. ^_^ nice

  • what song?

  • this realy works?someone try this?

  • this realy works? someone try this?

  • 6 people FAILED to try that ! :D

  • l cant wait to show my kids this when they are like 16 it will be soooo funny not that i have any kids yet haha

  • Amazingg...

  • pretty bad ass

  • omg thats just amazing

  • How are you able to keep the pencle from moving? i tried to do it but for one the pencil will not stay still when i actraly did get it to stay still it did not play vary well (not at all actraly). I did not whant to damage the record so i did what you said in your other video and just used a peice of paper could that have also efected it?

  • @worldatwar117 You'd use a holder on the bottom of the pencil. Something small to just fit the bottom of the pencil EXACTLY. The bottom of (preferred type of stick) should also be quite smooth so it can spin gently.

  • if i used a proper record needle would it still scratch the vnyl?

  • Put a smile on my face bro, I'm gonna go destroy some vinyl now, thanks!!

  • Can't you make another video with the Perry Como song?

  • The nice thing about records is that they can be played 100% without electricity. Although this does sound amazing today, don't forget that the very earliest record-players (ca. 1880-1940s) were ENTIRELY mechanical. You wound them up, you put down the tone-arm and you let the thing spin.

  • HOW THE FUCK

  • this really doesn't fail to amuse me man. thumbs up!

  • lol in the paper

paul mccartney talks about things that matter

  • wow your very good at keeping a constant speed. there's a lot of wow and flutter but its better then I could do.

  • This amazes me. Now, we audiophiles have found just another reason why vinyls are better than CD. Long live analog (actually, it will).

  • @mcg413 well idk if this is a good example but look at fallout 3 and new vegas,(the games) the only music thats left is vinyl records

  • they already played records without electricity like 100 years ago:p

  • but the best of all is that you can listen to music after a solar storm!

  • this is cool! it runs great

  • Excellent elevator music

  • next time we are stuck in a storm with no power at least we'll have emergency music!

  • @yoshua4 LOL ok jim your turn to turn the friggen record!

  • @triniboy2007 plus then we can mix music like a dj ( just move the record back and foward!!

  • this is freaking druid black magic.

  • @sheatheman I'm not surprised, hell a few of Univ. or Paris's most regarded patrons called Edison a ventriloquist when he first showed the phonograph

  • @sheatheman This sickening display of record abuse makes me sick to my stomach.

  • @Bassmaster970 well, if a sickening display of anything DIDN'T make you sick to your stomach, when what would that make you? probably someone who should learn how to type without pressing any keys. cheers from planet Verig, by the time this reaches you i'll be in cryo for the night cycle.

  • @sheatheman Not really. Records are 'analogue' technology, you can do this with a drawing pin effectively. Won't do the record any good though.

  • @sheatheman thanks youtube. i carefully consider what will get me the top comment, and then you take it down because it's simply to popular. this is not survival of the fittest.

  • McCartney talks about that matter

  • Is this thing auto reverse where the pitch loll . Seriously it's cool man.

  • i love you :D

  • Is that a TOOTHPICK?

  • Would it work better if you used a plastic straw that was trimmed to a point?

  • will this work on a CD?

  • @ericksonboang A CD works by reflecting a laser on the disc. Pits burned into the CD are protected by the layer of plastic on the CD. The pattern created by the pits is read by the player.

Long story short, no, this would not work with a CD. All that would happen is that you'd scratch the surface of the CD.

  • @staratmidnight7 I done this Creatively with a CD

I had a Portable CD Player where the Spindle Motor was Doggy Replaced it with a bobbin of fishing line and Pulled (one you get the CD to a Certain speed the Optics are able to make sense of the CD and play tracks (you need to keep the pick-up head and & Electronics intact as well as the tracking mechanism)

one bad thing though Different Tracks on a cd require different speeds Even the Speeds Change mid track meant seeing lots of Errors ....

  • @hitechguy18 Cont...

Turns out CD Turns Much faster with Tracks on the inside (a much higher RPM is needed)

Where tracks on the outside rim of the cd the CD turns much slower (a Much lower RPM is needed)

Even Playing the tracks the RPM will steadily go down due the Pits must be read at the same rate

The CD Player was a a Cheap freebee give to me when I got my mobile phone on contract

It was ill If you rotated the whole player the opposite way of the disk it would play funny

  • @ericksonboang lolololololol

  • @ericksonboang WTF dude, its complete different are you twelve ?

  • How is the condition of this record after playing in this manner?

  • @bencheshire like shit, a metal needle will fuck up the track and the quality will go to shit.

  • Isn't the tunrtable spinning the wrong way? Something is not right here.

  • MacGyver !!!! LOL

  • vinylkiller_

  • HOO YOU MAKE ME LAUGH So Mush YOU HAVE BETER SYNCHRONIZATION than a Turn table ......LOL O WELL I DONT SAY NOTHING ELLS ;;;;jajajaja

  • this is bull shit. It doesn't work, unless you have an electronic turn table with an arm and record needle. despite stabilizing the pencil in a hole, the record keeps tilting and gets scratch while needle jumps all over. Good job, David Copperfield

  • can u please show a more detailed video i tried it and i didn't work it was to hard to spin it tilted and it was shaky a little sound

  • wow thats awesome

  • Really nice 'n' simple =D It's just hard to hold the speed of spinning the pencil.

  • BOSS

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Wow! That's wild and unique...I can't believe it actually works...I may have to try the paper cone method with my turntable...

  • Unbelievbly Amazing

  • Absolut Cool and creativ

  • im going to try my uncle's ramones record, its old and broken from the edge.

  • Why is it so long? We get the point after 10 seconds!

  • lol

  • what does the paper say about mccartney

  • TRY a jonas brothers record -The Jonas Brothers are queer- and their records are only good for such experments. The Banana Boat Song is Awesome-Why destroy that record?

  • Because the Jonas Brothers' fanbase (Tween girls) do not know what records are, they only know about illegal internet downloads.

  • shut up you rehab.

  • @kraigus

Wow...I feel really insulted by that. I think I'm going to cry now...

Really? That's the best you could come up with? Rehab? You assume I'm a druggie because I know what actual music is?

  • oh clearly. because disliking the jonas brothers makes you so alternative, and soooo individual.

grow up. music is music. the politics of a band shouldnt come into question, sure they are corporate shills, but people use those bands as a gateway to good music, not everyone listens to great music from the start. i really dislike your arrogance at dismissing young people for liking something you dont. who cares?

  • @kraigus

No, those bands are corporate puppets. Not musicians. I only dislike them for the fact that Disney tailors them so kids like them. If they were independant or signed to EMI or Capitol, I would respect them more.

  • @Beatleboy62 I really dislike your arrogance of defending these young people. I don't know about you, but most of them here all seem to like the same prepackaged thing. Justing Bieber? He'll lose his career as soon as he hits puberty. Jo Bros? They lost popularity ever since Bieber hit the scene, the new flavor the week. Miley, I give her a bit of respect, wanting to end her contract with disney.

  • you dislike them because theyre deliberately marketed to kids....? does their music appeal to anyone other than 15-13 year old girls? they arent great, but calling their fans stupid for not thinking like you is presumptious dont ya think?

  • @kraigus I didn't mean the 13-15 year olds...I meant the 16-20 year olds that listen to them. I really don't give about the 7-15 age group because at that age, Kidz Bop is cool.

Where I come from (NJ) there are 16-20 year olds who listen to the so called Disney 'music.'

Oh, and here's a tip. Your points would seem more educated and valid if you used capital letters at the begining of sentances.

  • "Oh, and here's a tip. Your points would seem more educated and valid if you used capital letters at the begining of sentances."

maybe if you could spell you'd seem more educated. spelling is more important than grammar/punctuation you'll notice i'm not using any capitals, it must annoy you so, 15-20 doesn't constitute tween.

and the phrase rehab in ireland is interchangeable with retard. not a drug reference, Gimp.

  • @kraigus you misspelled sentences.

  • @notevendas THAT I DID:p

  • I'd just like to let you know, the fact you dont like them due to being associated with disney, after 2 seconds of research on the jonas brothers, who i really do not like, i assure you. the FIRST record label they signed to was ......COLUMBIA, being the record label ran by rick rubin, who claim s.o.a.d johnny cash, slayer, rhcp, bob dylan and the byrds, as past clients. so does that mean you respect them more? or are you a hypocrite with a stupid point?

  • @LOUDNESSrocks agree, fucking MURDER them

  • ughhhhh, it just kills me to see you ruin the record like this.;9

  • i must say it is reassuring that in year 2010 there are some people doing these crazy things :))

  • @vinylloung!!!!!!FUCK YOU!!!!

  • Good video. Technics better watch out!

  • It just sounds creepy. Like it belongs in "The Hills Have Eyes" or one of Robb Zombies' Movies

  • wow but i think its very difficult to keep 78rpm by hand...

  • What's that newspaper say about McCartney?

  • I wondered that too.lol

  • I am so trying this with My Beatles Record

  • Why a Beatles record. Use an Old rush record. The nail damages the record, hence deterioratting the record prematurely. Just use an old non valuable record.

  • @thescramaster Rush is awesome!

  • @sammyslamdunk Why would you ruin an AMAZING record?

  • Well Kieth The Pink, If that is your real name, Rush records are fairly common, and therefore easy to replace. However The Beatles Records are considerably harder to come by, many more times rarer than Rush. That is why I say to use an old Rush record, not for lack of quality, but for

    easy accesibility.

  • @thescramaster Oh yeah, sorry.

  • @KeithThePunk because is very creative ruin things like that

  • HAHAHAHA, awesome!xD

  • ive been trying this for a couple hours now and i hear no music, just scratching sound... any tips? maybe hve 2 people? one spin one hold needle??

  • that's really funny, so you will see how it work's without electric energy

  • Haha, epic.

  • With my old 78's the record actually wears out the needle..thicker needles are louder than thin...have a go at creating your own wax recordings (same process but shout down the cone and needle cuts into the wax)

  • hehehe I did that when I was a kid and got into trouble for scratching my mother's record...that's great... well done!

  • My hands would get tired after a while.
