its hard to lose weigh on your own, but you should do always at the very least TRY to do it on your own...its much more gratifying, to be able to say- "yeah you see the change i've made? yeah that was fuckin ME i did this. i have the strength, i did it"...at least thats how i see it
Yes! We need people who believe that "I'm-being-honest-cuz-I-love-you" means verbalizing Truths like "You're an awesome friend," etc. I'm sure most of you know what I mean when I say that I ALREADY KNOW THE "OTHER" TRUTHS! By heart! Sideways & upside-down, even! I need to hear the more important, meaningful Truths from time-to-time. The one (BFF) who couldn't manage it? GONE. I'm fortunate for those in my life now -all incredible people- who have NO trouble saying the good stuff, & sincerely!
i love you meghan! im just watching through older pls vids for a little 'pick-me-up' from feeling down, and this definately did the trick! thankyou, your great, and beautiful! xxx
(Cont.) why people do that to themselves. My aunt and uncle that had it done were around 500-550 lbs before the surgery, and they are far into their 60s. So I understand their reasons, but they look HORRIBLE.They literally look like skeletons.
I have a cousin that's about the size they were right now, and she is happy the way she is. She loves life, and lives it. She is truly my best friend and my inspiration.
You are a GORGEOUS thick girl, and you can do EVERYTHING you want to do.
I just found this video, and I love it. My mom works in the part of the local hospital that takes cares of people after this type of surgery. I also have an aunt and Uncle who have undergone this surgery. I honestly think it's the WORST option possible. You literally can't eat more than something the size of a strawberry. You CAN'T get the nutrients you NEED to LIVE when you can't freaking eat anything, and if you CAN follow a diet like that, WHY mutilate your body?! I don't understand (Cont.)
This is the first video of yours I've watched and it choked me up a little! Kudos to you and the others involved for starting this project. What a wonderful thing you all are doing.
you are sooo beautiful and i wouldn't change a thing about you. my wife is a big beautiful woman also but she has recently been getting early signs of diabetes. now like i told you i wouldn't change a thing about her but i want her to be healthy too. wat i'm trying to say is there are health risks the longer u are "overweight'. i love my wife sooo much, i don't know wat i would do witout her. she is my life. it might be worth the risk cutie. i'm for healthy people no matter wat size. u rok megan
My grandma is one of those people, she always tells me i'm beautiful and whatever and then tells me "if you lose weight you'd have a boyfriend" and it's just like "thanks grandma...thanks for making me feel like shit" lol
mine does that to! actually, she goes one step further. she also feels the need to tell her friends that if i lost weight, i'd be "prettier". it must be an old people thing lol.
i meant that i agree with your response to that comment that that person said to you!! it is a slap in the face and those ppl know it is and they're stupid enough to actually think that you dont know it is a slap in the face. i hate ppl like that. big girls can do everything and anything a skinny girl can do but better!!!
i love you meghan!! i totally agree with what you said with the whole 'yur a pretty girl- youd be more successful at this and that if you lost weight' comment.
Well spoken, Meghan. I completely agree with you. I never had or contemplated weight loss surgery, but when I was younger I did lose a significant amount of weight thinking that it would solve all my problems, when in fact it didn't really solve anything! And you are a beautiful girl, period. Gorgeous, in fact. xo.
I have a coworker who's in the planning stages of gastric bypass surgery. She's on a special diet to prep for the surgery and saving money to have her boobs done "once there's less of me" as she says. It's ironic b/c she lost about 20 lbs in two months on this surgery prep diet. Why not stick to that diet and no surgery? She's a good person for me to be around because I can see what has happened to her body over time (diabetes, joint issues) and take care not to let the same happen to me.
As long as you aren't doing it for vanity reasons but rather for health reasons it is worth the risk. You have to love yourself as you are. Becoming a Barbie doll is not going to help you to love yourself better. So if anyone is thinking of going under the knife just so they can supposedly feel better about themselves they are going to be in for a rude awakening. But if a person's health demands it go ahead and do it. Beats dying.
Generally i agree. There are risks and it is not a sure fire answer. I do respect people's individual decisions on this though, as there may be cases where the extra weight poses a greater risk than the surgery.
Usually, weight loss (a term I dislike, if I'm healthy and in decent shape it doesn't matter what i weigh), is best effected though as you said a life style change. Statistically the faster you loose weight, the more likely you are to put it back on. slow and steady wins the race.
Different people have different body types and your much better off working with what you have then trying to be something your not.
and Meghan your pretty no matter what weight you are!
While weight loss surgeries can be warranted in extreme cases, I think too often people see them as an easy way out.
Some one close to me had gastric banding surgery and it caused them a lot of problems. They had to have several follow up surgeries for complications, including the band slipping and cutting off their stomach completely.
While quick fixes to major problems can be tempting and even seductive, Their usually not the best course of action.
Until now I hadn't heard any of the negative side of the surgeries, so this was pretty informative. Thanks!
You definitely don't need to be more/less of "this" or "that" before you can accomplish what you want. You'd kick butt at any size or any time. Never change unless it's absolutely necessary!
i think weight loss surgery is a very tempting option for people who are large and are tired of how they are treated because of their body. however, the chances of keeping off the weight are still 50/50 even WITH the surgery. it seems a drastic step for such low odds of success, not to mention that in most cases it is very possible to be healthy AND large without the surgery. i am very against it, but i can empathize with those who make that decision.
Wow, yeah. I have considered it in the past, quite honestly, because it would just be easier to do everything if I were thin. Not that the actual doing would be easier, but the road in front of me would be easier. No more haters, no more assumptions that I can't or shouldn't, no more second-guessing myself. But I finally decided that if I was willing to risk permanent damage and death for an elective surgery, then my work on my inner self wasn't really done yet.
Ugh I hate when people say that! "You're so pretty, so if you were skinny, etc" just makes me so mad. How about, I'm gonna do it now and you can suck it. How I do or do not deal with my weight issues or lack there of is not up for discussion in a public forum.
Yeah, I'd never volunteer for a medical procedure. noooope.
I am against the surgery because of the research I have done on it. Not only is it dangerous to make your body go against its natural function, but the long term effects can be devastating.
Personally, I'm not for it. My sister's sister in law died from complications from the surgery. And, one of my friends ended up having a stroke from complications of the surgery, and had to be put into a coma for 3 months to heal from skin problems from the surgery (she had an open wound the size of a sheet of paper that wouldn't heal). She now has neuropathy in her hands & feet as well. She would have been a healthier heavy person than she is now that she's smaller and dealing with the issues.

i get: you'd be prettier if you lost weight, got a nose job, dyed your hair a lighter color, and started dressing like a girl.
ha! fuck those back handed compliments. it's always best to say "you're pretty just the way you are."

So I'm having the lap band surgery in July. I'm 19 years old, and for me its about a life change, not losing weight.
