LOL. Overrated my arse. Patrick was an elite player that had excellent shooting skill. Best jump shot ever for a big man. He didn't just dunk all the time.
He did get dunked on sometimes because he was trying to defend the hoop against other elite players. He didn't complain. Just took it in and went on to business.
He did all what he did on bad knees and later in his career an injured wrist. Had he not been injured and got more games played his number would have been higher.
@ddonfro absolutely this man was the epitomy of 'carrying your team' and putting your team first before anything else. its a pity players today dont seem to share the same passion for the game itself.
I love Patrick, love the Knicks, but it's abit unfair to the other players to say he absolutely never had any other good guys around him. Don't forget Charles Oakley, Marc Jackson, Alan Houston, Larry Johnson, Xavier Mcdaniel, Gerald Wilkens, like him or not Latrell Sprewell, Derek Harper. Notice I didn't mention Starks or Charles "I can't make one simple layup" Smith.
Now Ewing and Oakley were just awesome, wish we had them now.
@mcentepede reason he got posterised so much is cos he was always waiting in the middle, prepared to block any1 that came inside.....alot of todays big men hide like cowards, Patrick never hid from any1.
Pat never had the sidekick jordan had.................. 1 top player vs 2 top players (jordan and pippen)you do the math.....in fact jordan pippen rodman kukoc and etc....patrick never any good player in the knicks none whit his heart or hungry...sorry for my bad english anyway....
The greatest Knick, no doubt. He was a warrior defination!! He never quit playing, he always keep going. Something todays players should learn from. The knicks Should watch his old tapes he Never quit playing. he played his heart out more then anyone else i ever saw play. He deserves more from the Nba.
As a native New Yorker and die-hard Knick fan, it pains me to see Ewing without a title nor MVP. His work ethic was unparalleled, single-handedly carrying the Knicks since 85' and turning the franchise into a defensive powerhouse in the 90's. He's been dunked on by Jordan and others, but at least he was the last line of defense and held the paint down. An underrated warrior, and the best center to don a New York uniform. Big props to #33 for bringing alot of memories to NYC and the Garden...
I wish he woulda made that layup in Game 7, his legacy would be complete, he is still the greatest center the Knicks ever had, he will always be missed-
My man, Patrick Ewing... #33. I had his sneakers, the ones with the pumps, when I was 12. The man gave me great memories and made me feel good to be a knick fan.

@fazman52 Amen to that. Sure he'd get dunked on...but they always knew he'd be there to meet them next time. Never intimidated, always intimidating.

Definitely good times when Ewing played, a shame that he didn't win a title.
