I was a very poor working class kid, the family couldn't afford to go on holiday and we had a B/W TV when most of the shows were in colour. So I had penpals. I had 4 in the U.S. and 2 in Europe. By the time I was 19 I only had the U.S. penpals. I saved for 3 years., got a wage advance and at 23 I organised the trip off a lifetime to visit them.
