Lol. since when does having turntables/cd players make one a real Dj? Only those who rock the crowds pretty much on a daily basis should be called dj;s, average bedroom joes like him and many others who spin occasionally are all nothing but hobbyists. Oh, and a lot of the big names dj's use Ableton live and mix on their laptops instead of caring bulky cd wallets or (lol) vinyl crates. Bottom line, if you cant read the crowd then even the most expensive equipment wont make you a star.
nice work. one question, how did you manage to beatmatch? i saw you mapped 2 pith controls to volume controls. thats 4 volumes controls and no pitch controls?
thank you for your support. to answer your question in the simplest form - if you're fimilar with ableton, I adjusted the warp markers in each song to be perfectly aligned with each beat. Once that has been done, each track is then synched with the global tempo and thus beatmatched. As you mentioned, i used the pitch controls to act as volume so i could fade tracks in and out. Hope that helps
i ve added an eq3 in live and tried to control it with my knobs but, when they r at 12 oclock (what sould be 0db) ableton puts my eq at 12 oclock as well, but in eq 3 the 12 oclock position is not 0db, its about -14db.
so if i want a 0db gain for my low freqs i have to put the knob at 3 oclock aprox, and thats isnt a comfortable position, coz its anti natural and knobs on the xsession have a stop at 12oclock so u can stop there easily.
i know exactly what you are talking about. I have the same problem. However, I got use to it, and just know where to stop the knob in order for it to be at 0db (3 o'clock). As far as I know, there is no way to fix the problem you are referring to. If you ever figure it out, let me know.
well i solved the problem using eq 8 instead. and ive heard that its a better eq. eq 3 slightly modifies the signal even with all 3 bands at 0db.
the problem is that eq 8 has just -15db, not -inf like eq 3. and you have to set up the frequency and Q in order to have a proper eq. well its not the best but its fine for me. with mids and highs its not a big problem, but with low freqs its pure sh!t coz u need to put it at 0db fast..
i have a myspace but no mixed on it, for the simple fact that people have ripped my shit off the internet and the next thing you know I am walking inside a club with my shit playing
they even kept my voice loop over on the trach so fuck that
you aint paying me, but i can tell you to go to the viper room in hollywood this saturday or if next week at forbidden city
asshole i say sasha ( progressive house ) no that shit and you know that sasha is fucking good. dubfire also use the ableton...now you gonna say that dubfire is shit right?
Ableton offers a lot more room for raw talent than three turntables and a filter/fx rack even.
You are speaking out of ignorance, even though I can appreciate the sentiment itself. If a man can make you dance and keep the dance floor pumping, a man is a DJ. It's not about ego, it's about the people on the dancefloor.
It just HAPPENS that Ableton offers more creative artistic and skill inducing challenges than even the craziest turntable set up. Props to this set right here!
thank you for the support man. that is exactly how i view it. I love music, i love loops, and I love beats, and I try to project that through my videos. If I could afford cdj 1000's I would surely have a pair.

i dont know very well how to use the cue function in ableton. i think it's a little bit poor, but maybe just becouse i dont know how to use it properly.
you have to change the output of the ch u want to cue to the headphones out?
The entire track list is listed in the information to the right of the video. If you are suggesting that the other tracks were not played...you must understand that samples of a few of the tracks were used. Therefore, I felt obligated to credit every track used in my mix. I hope you enjoy(ed).
Fantasic work my man. Ignore the hate comments, people are still stuck on vinyl as the ONLY means to DJ. Everything is about change, and the new technology is doing wonders for the industry. I saw Hawtin throw down an insane set recently, and it was all abelton driven.
