@smeagle9999 It's intended to be humorous. I think there's no doubt about it by the time I do the falsetto vocals near the end!!! LOL Thanks for watching!
I live in southern Nevada,we get some big scorpions out here too,had one crawl on my leg one night,I was awake though, scared me so bad I smacked it off me,then stabbed it with a Bowie knife.
I think that's a Leiurus quinquestriatus--or Deathstalker if you prefer. It's venom is a potent mixture of Agitoxins, Chlorotoxin, Scyllatoxin, and Charybdotoxin. In laymans terms, it'll kill you if you fuck with it.
@jezus901 It is good Karma to think of the welfare of one's neighbors. I wished to spare them the trauma of a painful scorpion sting. By taking him into the desert I would have disrupted the habitat of other scorpions. I chose the most enlightened path in this situation. Namaste!
@jezus901 While you might like to have a scorpion as a pet, I don't want one for a pet. A mistake people often make is assuming that what they would do in a situation is what others should do in a similar situation. That's how we wind up with ridiculous laws that limit our freedoms. While I respect your opinion, I do not share your opinion and resent any use of social pressure to force me to agree with your opinion or to act in accordance with your opinion.
@datcatyuh777 I wrote it after seeing the scorpion in the garage and so I call it "Scorpion In My Garage" or something like that. I have all the songs posted on my website in case you're interested. Thanks for watching!
@Austin76711 They're supposed to get up to seven inches long and the one in the video was probably close to six inches. I live in California near Death Valley.
@truthspeakerism its a giant hairy desert scorpion and they are large around 4 inches or so. they are also not very venomous, compared to the AZ bark scorpions.(at least where I am at in AZ anyways)
@iDJScatter Intentional melodrama for comedic effect - not a fail, just a fairly effective lyrical move in a song that is not meant to be taken seriously.
Only those worthy enough to pass the test of defeating the Garage Scorpion may be given access to the many valuables and lost tire irons of blackturtleshow's garage.
@rojoric124 It could be worse. Try this one. Imagine one crawling up the wall and then onto the ceiling, directly above you, while you are sound asleep in your bed. What will happen if it drops and lands on the pillow directly by your head? Pleasant dreams! Bwah-hah-hah-hah!!!
@ScientistCat Videos featuring interesting and exotic creatures do pretty well on YouTube. You should put your interest to work and start making some videos featuring arthropod species that will send shudders of fear through the spines of viewers!
@liberalinthedesertaz BTW, checked out your channel and saw your comment to the cholla video. Lots of cholla around here (probably a different species though). BTW, I need to update the pages at my website for cholla since the genus is now Cylindropuntia instead of Opuntia! Thanks for the inadvertent reminder!
@blackturtleshow I'm glad you killed the scorpion I've lost the only dog I've ever loved to a scorpion sting It was only a chihuahua and apparently got stung multiple times poor lil guy couldn't take it.
@Starfire7888 I could have done a lot of things, but I wasn't about to go out of my way to carry a scorpion out into the desert so that it was a quarter mile from the nearest house. If I see a scorpion while out hiking, I leave it alone, but if it's in my garage, it's just like any other unwanted insect.
well lets get a camera and film a trapped scorpion and put some heavy meatal on the video and poke the scorpion with a stick!!!!!!!! tipickal college idiots
@firephilip10 No, typical college "idiots" would have tortured it with a lighter or by impaling it or something like that. I happened to be cleaning out my garage and the scorpion appeared from behind a trash bag and so naturally I had to get it on video for a YouTube before humanely killing it. Not to kill it would have put my neighbors at possible risk and I wasn't about to go out of my way for a stupid scorpion!
@blackturtleshow Hadrurus ssp. are completely harmless. They generally live in burrows and only move around at night, it wasn't going to harm anyone. It had probably just wandered into your garage because it was cool but didn't realize that it couldn't build a burrow in there.
And the "what if it was a child" argument is completely invalid here. There was absolutely no reason for you to kill it, aside from being uneducated.
@Alf90100 Scorpions are not completely harmless. The sting is painful and there is a chance of allergic reactions. And I didn't use the "what if it was a child" argument (which I detest, BTW). I expressed concern for my neighbors. Some of my neighbors are senior citizens, for instance. My belief is that the scorpion was a nuisance that my neighbors, regardless of age, should not have to deal with and that as a considerate and responsible neighbor it was my duty to dispose of the pest.
@blackturtleshow Okay, can you show me one instance of a medically verifiable allergic reaction to scorpion venom? It's unheard of. And as far as the sting being painful? So what? Many things in life are "painful." Honestly, it doesn't even matter how venomous Hadrurus ssp. are, the fact remains that unprovoked stings are extremely unlikely as they rarely ever come in contact with people. It's never your duty to kill wildlife, it is your duty as a responsible human being to coexist with it.
@Alf90100 That's a ridiculous request. Of course, I can't show you an instance of a medically verifiable instance of someone suffering an allergic reaction. It's not like I have access to the private medical records of everyone in my state! However, if people can suffer allergic reactions to bee stings, then it would seem reasonable to accept that this is also the case for scorpion stings. So, I suppose it is up to you to prove that such an allergic reaction is impossible.
@blackturtleshow Allergic reaction to scorpion venom would be physiologically possible, but it's unheard of.
These animals are 100% harmless. You aren't a neighborhood hero for killing it. And it certainly wasn't justified. Even if it was "dangerous," it's not like it's out to get you or anything. Just learn to coexist with animals or move to a dense urban area where you won't encounter them.
@Alf90100 by the look of that scorpion i'd say he is dangerous because he has got a little claws, that means he has a strong poison (the smaller are claws the stronger the poison) and he looks like deathstalker. As far as i know certain species of scorpion are aggressive and will attack humans with little to no provocation, while others will only attack when threatened
@8bit2304 I know exactly what species it is. That's just a general association, it's not always or even usually true. This is a Desert Hairy[Hadrurus arizonensis], a completely harmless sp. Death Stalkers live on the other side of the world in the deserts of Northern Africa and the Middle East. No scorpion is aggressive, some are defensive. And yes, there is a difference. No scorpion is going to come after you to attack you, there's ALWAYS provocation. You have no idea what you're talking about.
@McFrealy That sounds like an interesting video idea. There are tons of videos on YouTube featuring physical confrontations between two different creatures (scorpion vs black widow, snake vs mouse, lizard vs tarantula, etc.) Maybe scorpion vs chihuahua would be popular!
@Mrpingu938 Actually I did wind up killing it since I didn't want it to sting any of my neighbors. I suppose I should have scooped it up and walked a couple hundred yards out into the desert and released it there, but I didn't have a container handy and if I tried to locate one it would have gotten away somewhere and then I'd feel responsible if it stung somebody. As for creative ways of killing it, I have no moral objections, but I did it the old fashioned way: I stomped on it! LOL
@Mrpingu938 Well, first of all I had my shoes on! LOL Secondly, I was very careful not to miss! By the time I got to stomping him, he was on my driveway. I probably shot about ten minutes of video before I got to that point though.
@saalanc That's all? I often get really large black widows in my garage and it's not uncommon for me to have a half dozen at a time. Fortunately they don't come into the house for some reason.
@blackturtleshow Good Lord. I feel that's uncommon, but if you say so. lol. I live in Lubbock TX and last summer I found two widows in my garage. I know they are common to places like that, I've never heard of 6 at a time.. that's freaky. They are magnificently beautiful, which is why I hate to exterminate them. But they freak me out being in my house.
I love the song! its looks like a giant desert hairy scorpion, so i take it you live in arizona, southern california utah new mexico or nevada, anywyas theyre not dangerously venomous to humans, theyre sting is similar to a wasp sting, you should keep them around they eat cockroachs and other pests
@300istilmig While I agree that the scorpion is an interesting novelty, I also must point out that it is potentially dangerous. Do you ever spray insecticide around the house or work at a location where insecticide is used? How is that really any different?
@blackturtleshow no I am not sure how dangeres it is but it doesnt help to poke it with a stick?? and I am living in Denmark so I havent seen any scorpions in nature )= (I would say that denmark is one of the safest countries in the world almost not posion animals/bugs and no big nature catastrophics :P )
@joeysmachine Well, if that's how Karma works then pretty much everyone who's ever eaten a hamburger is in for big trouble! LOL Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment!
@FireDrag1091 Except that your friend's cat most likely has no stinger! (Unless, of course, the cat happens to be some kind of genetically modified organism designed by a deranged scientist!)
@volkswagon4 Yeah, I need to learn to act like I'm all scared when I see one of these things. Actually he does a really good job of over-dramatizing! Maybe if I take acting lessons.
@stufish4040 I kind of copied Zack Scott. He has a couple videos titled Giant Spider in My Garage and so I thought it would be humorous to do a variation of the title only with a scorpion.
@kenrg Every locality has it's negatives. I'm allergic to dust mites and so I stay away from the coast and other places with enough humidity to support dust mites! However, I've done some great hikes along the coast from Big Sur on up to Eureka!
@GreatGig1 I make typos all the time and I assume a typo is a typo. Some people seem to assume that a typo is evidence of lack of spelling ability. I find those people annoying!!!
@blackturtleshow Oh good...now I know you aren't a spelling nazi...:-) I'll be leaving all those "typos" now...well...if I remember that is! No telling what I will remember when I wake up...ha!
@VidsRock175 Yeah, I'm hoping to see a horny toad pretty soon since I have a song ready for that! I don't know why I haven't come across a horny toad this summer! Saw a tortoise while on a hike last week, but I just took a couple pictures, no video.
I haven't seen one of those around my property in a long while! If I ever do, I'll be sure to get permission to use your wonderful song as my sound track! :-)
I've woken up before with a desert tarancula in my bed on me...so...NOPE...don't want to wake up with a scorpion! I've had enough creepiness with critters for the rest of my life...LOL
@GreatGig1 I had a sun spider crawl on me while I was sleeping. It was a good sized one. They look a little bit like scorpions without the pinchers and stinger. Google it and you'll see what I mean if you're not familiar with sun spiders.
@blackturtleshow I have some pictures of those sun spiders! I didn't know what they were when I first moved to the desert. Nasty looking critters! And the kind of critters you wouldn't want to wake up and see looking at you from the top of your nose...LOL
@maintoc I did kill it after taking the video. I wasn't happy about killing such an awesome creature, but I don't really want my neighbors to get stung either!

@joeysmachine Well, if that's how Karma works then pretty much everyone who's ever eaten a hamburger is in for big trouble! LOL Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment!

@blackturtleshow With its tail up that way, and being that fast, he reminds me of a friends cat. LOL
FireDrag1091 1 year ago
@FireDrag1091 Except that your friend's cat most likely has no stinger! (Unless, of course, the cat happens to be some kind of genetically modified organism designed by a deranged scientist!)

@blackturtleshow I will tell you the truth, her tail is sharp, when she whacks me with it it hurts!

@volkswagon4 Yeah, I need to learn to act like I'm all scared when I see one of these things. Actually he does a really good job of over-dramatizing! Maybe if I take acting lessons.

I have no fucking clue why, but I find the scorpion kind of "cute" and Now I'm considering to ask if i can own one in my apartments ._.

Mannnnn! That's HUGE! Hate scorpions :( love the song :}
" Scorpions In My Garage " would have to be one of my all-time, fave song Titles xD
stufish4040 1 year ago
@stufish4040 I kind of copied Zack Scott. He has a couple videos titled Giant Spider in My Garage and so I thought it would be humorous to do a variation of the title only with a scorpion.

Yikes! Thanks for reminding of why, even though I enjoy visiting the desert occasionally, I do NOT want to live there!
kenrg 1 year ago
@kenrg Every locality has it's negatives. I'm allergic to dust mites and so I stay away from the coast and other places with enough humidity to support dust mites! However, I've done some great hikes along the coast from Big Sur on up to Eureka!

Ooops...I really need to check better before I click "post"!! Should have been tarantula! LOL

@GreatGig1 I make typos all the time and I assume a typo is a typo. Some people seem to assume that a typo is evidence of lack of spelling ability. I find those people annoying!!!
blackturtleshow 1 year ago
@blackturtleshow Oh good...now I know you aren't a spelling nazi...:-) I'll be leaving all those "typos" now...well...if I remember that is! No telling what I will remember when I wake up...ha!

VidsRock175 1 year ago
@VidsRock175 Yeah, I'm hoping to see a horny toad pretty soon since I have a song ready for that! I don't know why I haven't come across a horny toad this summer! Saw a tortoise while on a hike last week, but I just took a couple pictures, no video.
blackturtleshow 1 year ago
@blackturtleshow xD lol i would like to see one too
VidsRock175 1 year ago
I haven't seen one of those around my property in a long while! If I ever do, I'll be sure to get permission to use your wonderful song as my sound track! :-)
I've woken up before with a desert tarancula in my bed on me...so...NOPE...don't want to wake up with a scorpion! I've had enough creepiness with critters for the rest of my life...LOL
GreatGig1 1 year ago
@GreatGig1 I had a sun spider crawl on me while I was sleeping. It was a good sized one. They look a little bit like scorpions without the pinchers and stinger. Google it and you'll see what I mean if you're not familiar with sun spiders.
blackturtleshow 1 year ago
@blackturtleshow I have some pictures of those sun spiders! I didn't know what they were when I first moved to the desert. Nasty looking critters! And the kind of critters you wouldn't want to wake up and see looking at you from the top of your nose...LOL

@JayBadlani That's what I wound up doing!

I think my reaction would have been, "Eek! Kill it! Kill it with fire!" :p I like your song, though. :)
maintoc 1 year ago
@maintoc I did kill it after taking the video. I wasn't happy about killing such an awesome creature, but I don't really want my neighbors to get stung either!
