I really strongly disapprove of what they do, but I can't even hate the sad old man who started the church. The irony (and even a nonreligious person like myself could see it clear as day) is that when you are able to NOT hate someone, even when they act like the Phelps family, you have found something in yourself that Jesus, Buddha, Ghandi, and millions of others have discovered in themselves. People hate the Westboro Baptist Church--even the most conservative and anti-gay of Christians. Laws have restricted their "protesting" to certain degrees. If you watch some of the churches videos on their website, you will see how people have tried to hurt them--and they believe they are being persecuted for "preaching the truth."
