@iamductri Actually, The Godfather served as a metaphor for Capitalism, POLITICS (or power/influence), and the loss of innocence...Though when you've watched the movie trilogy many a time, you'll start to realize that the main concept behind the novel as well as the films is both Capitalism and Power.
The Godfather is a great movie but its so unrealistic too it does not portray the Mafia accuratley the viloence is unrealistic especially Moe greenes, Capt McCluskeys and Don Fanuccis(Part II) and it ddoesnt get what the word Godfather means in the Mafia
@Snako85 The Godfather novel and films were NOT MEANT TO PORTRAY THE MAFIA. The novel and films purpose were to voice and visually tell the story of a powerful family and the dangerous realm they lived in and were happy in. It was to portray CAPITALISM, POWER, POLITICS, and the loss of innocence. It was not to portray the mafia.
Coppola is my cousin through marriage. I have a photo of him when he was a kid with one of m y great aunts, have lots of family photos of the Coppolas. I sent the photo to Nick Cage once but got no response.
@lordvoldemort578 yup really. Never met any of the famous Coppolas but we have old photos of the family. My great grandfather's sister married a Coppola & they were Francis Ford's parents.
@afarro73 Thats a common misconception though Francis fought for Brando, and Pacino It was infact Robert Evans (producer) who made Francis go back into the cutting room and add parts back in. With Roberts fight with Charlie Bludhorn (president of Paramount) they delayed the release for that year and consequently over fighting and everything they put back together the video we seen. But little does history ever complement or congratulate the editors, producers, and all of them
ridley scott got the budget for alien doubled when he showed his storyboards to the producer. Coppola got the same way with this huge treatment. Shows a little effort goes a long way.
lmao I wonder if Michael Bay did this with Transformers 2. The difference between an artist like this and someone like Bay shows how far we've strayed in what film should be. Sad really, you can see the passion he has for telling a story just in the size of his notebook.
brilliant...no wonder.. godfather turned out to be what it is today..A MASTERPIECE !! the attention to detail is simply amazing!!! this is a very helpful way!!
I wish they made this into a coffee table book like Kurt Cobain's journal, as a guy that likes the process of script writing & movie making I would love to own that book.
P - Francis Ford Coppola, who directed Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in "The Godfather" trilogy, says the Oscar winners have become "apathetic.meaning there assholes know
His great dissecting, attention to detail, hours of painstaking research and great production, amazing actors-- is what makes The Godfather the best movie of all time. Francis is amazing.
I wonder if he still uses this method today or has modified it. Great video and insight.

PS. Just how much effort he took to prevent Paramont ruining this picture every step of the way, lol! (on Brando, Pacino, 40's shooting, etc.)
