  • I' am building a model of the USS john F Kennedy. What colors should I use for the hull and the flight desk for the time frame of the 1990's. I have seen the island in photos it looks black as well as the flight deck. Where can I get flight deck markings decales for the USS John F Kennedy 1/ 800 made by monogram.

  • great job! may i know what materials did u use for this aircraft carrier? thank alot!

  • @marshiemallowsFairy Its just a model ship I got from a hobby store. I used Model Masters paints, an airbrush, Testors glue, the usual stuff

  • Good job,I was on the America 1985-1989,Waist Cats."FLO"

  • i walk the her deck 04 at thw philly navy yard during the oil spill for clean harbors

  • Great job! I like it

  • beautiful, just put my america together recently...

  • Great job, just1left2002! Thanks for sharing with us. "The Hero Ship", one of the greatest to serve on.

  • Don't let any of these people get to ya .... If you "put it out there" someone is always going to be critical of your work. I don't see any negative comments from former USS America crew members or JFK crewmen. Look at it this way; I came back for a another look and I used to live on the "America" 24/7 ... Thanks again.

  • Nice job!

I served on her from 1986-89. And since Pres. Bush has been brought up, I saw his first speech after his re-election on the flight deck.

Thanks for sharing this with us all! =)

  • Thanks for the great support. It means alot to me whenever I come home from a long day at work and see how much support I get.

  • @just1left2002

Webb, is that you? A friend of mine in the V1 division bought the last one, I was there when he brought it back to the ship. Just wondering if it's you. Johnson fly 3

  • You did a great job ! Everyone that served aboard her thanks you. It really means a lot.

  • Cool! I decom her in 96 BT3 Rashko #3MMR

  • @warchild1976 No it's not. I believe it was the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). By the way, the Lincoln did an extensive 10 month deployment when Bush went on there. Ive been on three long 6 month deployments so far and I cant imagine how 10 months during a peak level of war would feel

  • I'd go crazy. Just having my Commander-in-Cheif show up on my ship supporting me would make me proud of what im doing no matter what he says and its not a bullshit ship either. By the way, the USS America was already decommissioned in 1996.

  • Good Job ! Real nice ....Crew Member / USS America / 1979 / ABH2 Fly 1 / Thank You for remembering us ....

  • @Dogfish1960 I put that extra 120% of heart into this for it being a model of the ship built before the one I served on. Building models of something you either served on or drove gets that extra time and passion as compared to something your not related to. I still pat myself for its my first ship model. Thanks for the support.

  • pretty good im building a cv-66 aswell

  • That's awesome! I haven't been able to find any large scale models of the America. I was on the decom cruise and would love to build one.

  • i was on the last years of the kennedy in the main space. couldn't find any model of the kennedy except for the one built before it cv66 america. my hobby shop on base has a bunch of ship models.

  • Need to put some paint and sand together to give the deck that rough look...looks cool anyway

  • oh gee....why didnt i think of that? ill remember that next time i build a ship like this for that non-skid surface simulation. thanks.

  • Please dont pay attention to the date thats posted on some of the photos. i took those pics just after i finished it on April 6, 2009.
