I play ms (which is maple story) and I play for hours. when I first started, I did know what I was doing, no one tought me or showed me what I need to know but a few people. the rest I tought myself. so now I excel at it and teach others how and where to go even if on one tought them. I also am in a guild : D

A gamer girl will usually learn to play and might actually own, but a girl who plays games is in it for her bf or is trying to garner the "cute gamer chic" moniker from people she meets. Im a female that plays WoW, I have a guy friend that started playing and without my knowledge he study my way of typeing to learn how to "act like a girl" he then joined a guild hit on some guys and made a fake myspace useing some photo of a chick he found on the internet. People gave him money and carried him through raids, babyed him in everyway.
I rarely revieal the fact that I am female beacuse of people like him. I want anyone to baby me, or to think Im a lesser player.

@AnsaNail That's what I was saying, being female doesn't mean we're weak, in fact psychologically we are better at strategics and planning whereas most guys, but not all, are better at running in sword flailing and they die really fast. I know quite a few female gamers that are amazing at throwing groups together and usually the groups make it very far.

oh so you want a conversation about realistic characterizations with men and woman in video games. I do agree with you that people do want more 'real' characters in video games. and with new generation technology it can be done. i did check out heavy rain and it did look prity good. but even with that game theres still a sence of superficial qualities that are in other games. the graphics looks odd just watch the trailer. but to nit-pick every little thing that make a game fun would be retarded.
Those are all common, mature themes that are difficult to avoid. And even so, you have choices in the game. For example, you can choose whether to be violent and use a gun or to be peaceful, which in turn affects the outcome of the characters and their environment. Most games don't give you that choice; they just hand you the gun and make you use it to complete the game.
Lol i see you don't like the RPG genre. Most shooters are go around shooting everything in site. But in RPG games, choice matters. To give a perfect example: Fallout 3.

I know quite a few female gamers that are amazing at throwing groups together and usually the groups make it very far.

I just wish there where more games for girls(more like bonus items). i am kinda sick of having male and female character to pick from and all the special sexy clothing is for the female character. Having said that, I generally I'm don't talk about sexist comments. So i don't believe i give any gamer special treatment including my friends. When gaming I'll give my friends all kinds of $hit. Surprisingly, I don't get treated any differently than a guy, it makes no difference how I look, they will kill me all the same ^_^ When I get on voice chat though, they ask how old I am, not if I'm a girl hah. maybe it's different for other girls? I am a female gamer, and I don't have an issue with sexy game characters (and not just because I like to admire the view, too ;p). However, we gamers- female and male alike- are constantly bombarded with images of "perfect" characters, whether it be perfect curves on a woman or vast amounts of muscle on a man. This gets boring since characterization should have variety and shouldn't focus so much on stereotypes and physical attractiveness.
Games should be inclusive to everybody. It's an art.

I do agree with you that people do want more 'real' characters in video games. and with new generation technology it can be done. i did check out heavy rain and it did look prity good. but even with that game theres still a sence of superficial qualities that are in other games. the graphics looks odd just watch the trailer. but to nit-pick every little thing that make a game fun would be retarded.

Those are all common, mature themes that are difficult to avoid. And even so, you have choices in the game. For example, you can choose whether to be violent and use a gun or to be peaceful, which in turn affects the outcome of the characters and their environment. Most games don't give you that choice; they just hand you the gun and make you use it to complete the game.
