@Finarphin The recording is by "Cliar" from the CD Lasair Dhe. The solo is by Arthur Cormack and the backing vocals by the female members of Cliar, consisting at that time of Mary Ann Kennedy, Maggie Macdonald and Ingrid Henderson.
Uistman - Feasgar math dhuibh! You wouldn't by chance have "Oran Beinn-Li", would you? I heard that recently in a local Celtic-theme eating-house, in Denver yet, and I yelped, "Holy cow, that's Art Cormack!" and begged the server to run back and get the title off their satellite feed before it ended. Gorgeous song, but I can't find a recording online...
@RKHageman The song is from SKYE THE ISLAND by Selected Macmeanmna Arts, SKYECD01 I think U used to have a recording of the song but I don't have it now. :-(
I also know that "Oran Beinn-Li" was sung by Cathy-Ann MacPhee on her CD "Mairi Mhor". I don't know if it's available online...but if it is, you will be able to get the song there.
Thank you for posting this. It's wonderful to have the musical Psalm settings, especially when sung by Arthur Cormack. My Gaelic is so rusty I won't try posting a comment in it. I'm American, studied in Nova Scotia and lived in Skye for a while, but it was a long time ago.
I live in Hetford. My dad is Scottish and he 'encourages' us to listen to all things Gaelic. It is often difficult to bear but this song was lovely. Thanks Uistman.
Being from Germany, I have been listening to Arthur Cormack´s music on Cuillin FM Radio. What a great singer!
If I have understood well, a song of him is on the Highland Hospice CD that just came out. Is that CD already available in Scotland? We will be on Skye for Hogmanay.
He is a Gentleman as was his Father before him. Arthur and Shona used to take me and my friends for Gaelic Choir when we were in Portree Primary. He seemed so old then. lol But sadly now he looks younger than me. lol My biggest regret in life is that I cannot speak Gaelic and have to read the likes of Frank Gilfeather the Aberdeen Journalist down the Gaels at every opportunity. God Bless all those who strive to keep our language alive. I am ashamed I am not amongst you.
"Can anybody speak it here?" That depends what you mean - I believe there may even be a couple of folk in the Czech Republic who can speak it and several thousand Scots can speak Gaelic but I don't know how many speak it every day.
Thank you for your answer. I didn't mean the Czech republic, I think there aren't many people who even know about this language over here.:-( I meant some users might speak it, for example you... ;-) Can you speak this language?
I am from Switzerland and am studying in Aberdeen at the moment. I took Gaelic for Beginners as a course at university and I absolutely love it. It is so intriguing and mysterious. I only wish I could stay and learn it to perfection, but I have to go home next year.
Thanks Karen. This is an unusual arrangement combining these two psalms and I've liked it since I first heard it - I'm glad you liked it and commented on it. Bless you and yours.

@UISTMAN59 Thank you for your detailed reply. I have that CD, so perhaps that's why it sounded familiar.

There are even a few people in the States who have the Gaelic. Many more, of course in Canada, specifically Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
I enjoyed this psalm arrangement and the lovely photos of Skye very much. Gle mhath agus tapaidh leibh! :)

Beautiful.
Listening to Arthur, I am reminded of an occassion, a few years past when I stood in Glasgow Cathedral and listened to a performance of Lasair Dhe.
Tapadh leat, Arthur; fior dhuin-uasal.

I am a native speaker of Gaelic. I seem to remember some articles in a Gaelic magazine by a Czechoslovakian (that was a few years ago!)
