  • AWESOME !!

  • is that john leven on bas from europe?

  • @earlyblue

    yes

  • Glenn is da man!

  • This is one of the most haunting and best, unplugged performances of "Phoenix Rising" from Phenomena's first album Phenomena. Glenn Hughes's emotional and subtle interpretation in combined with the filigrane guitar layers created by the brilliant acoustic guitarists produced one of the most romantic Heavy Metal performances ever. This recording is a shadow of the life performance...it was just a killer performance!

  • can anyone put back stanger to love with sabbath?they took it off.

  • amazing!!! glenn is the king!

  • I think this is from Swedish television (Z-TV) and that it is the last time ever Hughes performed Phoenix Rising. (If I recall the interview, he said this would be is last performance of the song). Can anyone confirm?

  • Super!! Lyrics plzzzzz...

  • Lyrics , please...

  • Please , at the Lyrics..this great song...¿?¿?¿

  • former "Trapeze" and "Deep Purple" so why he is one of the best

  • I think I first heard this song on a swedish radioprogram with only metalmusic called "Rockbox." The year was 1984 and it was autum. I don´t really know when I found it here but thanx to the one who shared it.

  • from Phenomena first album, a real gem of romantic hard rock !!

  • Another superb performance from Mr Hughes. What a soulful voice he has, wish mine was as good!! Yes I believe it is falsetto at the start by the way.

  • Again and again and again...The most heartbreaking performance ever!

  • stunning voice off a wonderful album..............classic

  • "Phoenix rising" is so beautiful a song it hurts inside everytime I hear it.

  • I do remember those crazy nights in my youth...Phenomena, one of the best records of the 80s.

  • Anders Bojfeldt on guitar to the left. Awesome! =)

  • Does he sing In falsetto In the beginning?

  • Awesome video and song!!!

  • There is a rumour that Phenomena is going to have a secret Mel Galley (RIP) remembrance gig in London, performing this version of Phoenix Rising in a super star guitarist set.

  • the channel is called channel Z, and is a swedish small channel.. and sure it is the europe guys on bass and keyboards.. i have the phenomena LP with this original song version.

  • Indeed, jan leven on bass, mic michaeli on keys, both great musicians:),when Glenn toured on From Now On.. tour,Ian Haugland were on drums that particular tour

  • what the project?!! not phenomena!! i swear, the keyboard and bass player is mic michaeli and john leven from europe!!

  • somebody can pick up my jaw from the floor? awesomest!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It dsnt matter what guitar it is

  • I love the tune of the guitar, what guitar is that?

  • I was in the chocolate facory in 1984 when Glenn recorded this for Phenomena. He is my friend but it still is one of the greatest moments of my life. Nobody has that Voice, soul or passion. the greatest talent ever everyone should listen to the voice of rock, soul pop, and heart

  • Phenomena is THE album, and Glenn is THE man.

  • Unique!What a memories...so sweet and painful!

  • Glenn Hughes rox, but he had to drink sth strong here :D

  • this is really magnificent! thanx a lot for poasting this up! glenn rocks!

  • Sweet! I'd never seen Glenn footage with the 'Burning Japan Live' line-up (well, almost.......). This song rules, too. First 'Phenomena' was excellent!

  • The guitarist are Mats Larsson(black hair),and Eric Bojfeldt(blonde hair),all band is swedish based..

  • Thomas Larsson is the guitarist on the right.

  • The drummers "Hempo Hildén he played with John Norum for some time, on Bass it´s John Levén from Europe, and also Mic Michaeli on keyboards but I can´t see who´s playing guitar it would be logical if it´s John Norum but I can´t tell

  • Wonderful to hear this!!! I love the first and second Phenomena offerings and this is great!

  • Beautiful song!!! The power of Glenn...

  • like garry moore

  • Is there any more to this session? When and where is it from?

  • It's not EMO, This is Glenn Hughes from Deep Purple/Black Sabbath/Trapeze fame.

He's performing a song from a concept album that he recorded with guitarist Mel Galley called "Phenomena" which was released in 1984.

  • EMO.
