you have to completely cover the phone with both hands to lose signal and you've still 2 bars (and thus full speed). Heck if you put the phone in a radio proof box it won't transmit either.
The iPhone 4 lose signal (and much more signal) just by touching the left bottom side which is the normal phone handling position.
That's why there's complains on the iPhone 4 and no one really noticed a problem the other phones.
Yes agreed that the iphone has issues when you hold it from the left palm...
But here some things we are trying:
1. The experiment is on various phones and you will notice that the above issue happens on certain phones and not some phones they way we held it.
2. If I would want to write a long SMS or an email, some people would like to grip it "almost" all around so that i have a support while typing. The thing is attenuation is there regardless the grip...
@kangsterizer well not the way demonstrated, but if i hold the phone settling on both the hands , with the thumb for typing, the index fingers covering the top of the phone and the remaining 3 fingers of each hand supporting the back of the phone, ive pretty much covered the complete phone....i feel comfortable that way when typing emails or sms on the blackberry...
@mathurprateek i tried to type on my N95 that way, it's just impossible for me. maybe with very long and skinny fingers (you don't appear to have that:p), my thumb can't reach the keys if i hold the bottom, i can only hold the sides and i tried honestly hard :p
the issue with the ip4 is that just a soft touch is enough in a natural position (im using my friend's one)
hes got the bumper now and we noticed it doesnt drop too much with it in a natural position, but its not very "nice" looking

You will never hold the phone like you demonstrate. The iPhone problem appears by just holding the phone with your left hand to call.
