As an atheist, I absolutely love this album. I've spent the past hours really digging into the concept behind this album and the story it presents. While I disagree about certain aspects, it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the story. And I see it only as that, a story, much like how I don't believe in magic, but love the Harry Potter story. You can have your own beliefs and still appreciate another perspective. Not everything has to be a war.
@rabidkitten0 if he just disappeared as you say and left us for chaos then he breaks his promise which is a contradiction making him no better than Satan gods test you theorize about happens in satans rise-who will believe he is god and who will flock to his power.. Such as he warned against Satan deceiving others as angels and spreading false religions(Islam, mormans) interesting thought but impossible. However it IS a concept albumn so..but a very flawed and unintelligent one.
I think everybody who says they don't see how it makes sense from a Christian perspective is completely misunderstanding what Micah is saying. He says after God and Satan's battle they "disappear." Doesn't mean God doesn't exist. He explains that the world PRESUMES that he ceases to exist and turn to turmoil for lack of faith. It's a story of what do you really believe. It's like a test.
Have to say, Oh SLeeper is my very favorite band, and Children of Fire is the best christian Metal album that has been released! Can't wait for their next album :D

Oh, Sleeper challenges Christians to look very deep and not be lazy. Well how does one understand the Bible itself if they don't look deep enough? All the "Christian" critics kinda shoot themselves in the foot ey?

@WiiDJADRAnouk there is nothing "non-christian" about what they are talking about in this new album. its a concept..he is not saying he believes it. many people believe that God and Satan are or will die and they (Oh, Sleeper) are trying to portray that concept and show what they think. I'm sure if you were to get the album, listen to it start to finish, and look at the lyrics you would find there to be a deeper message in the album

Micah mentions that the ending of this album talks about the destruction of the world (and the believers and the saved ones rise and sing "we are the children of fire") which what the bible correlates. Its more of a journey in the last days where even Christ says there will be chaos in the world and where non-believers start asking questions. So in this perspective, Micah portrays the girl as one character.
@WiiDJADRAnouk I'm right with you on this. The concept of God leaving is very confusing to me. I generally consider myself to be a pretty open-minded person especially when it comes to lyrics, but I'm having a hard time finding a connection to any of these. I will definitely have to listen to the whole thing, but the few songs that I've heard so far are really making me question their direction. It'd be sad, because they had a really strong message the past two albums.

I don't think that's what will happen, but it's interesting to see how people might react if their world was changed so dramatically--Atheists and non-Christians faced with the truth about the world, and Christians feeling abandoned.
I definitely miss the messages of the previous albums, but I still enjoyed this one so far. And I don't think they are changing their faith at all.

Hi guys, im the vocalist in For Thy Kingdom (this account) and i just wanted to say how happy i am that oh, sleeper is releasing a new album, because it was these guys who got me into hardcore music, it was Micah who gave me the drive to start screaming, to start expressing myself through music. It helped me get my life on track and now im the happiest ive ever been, and it all leads back to oh, sleeper <3 i give them all the support in the world, and i cannot wait for this cd :)

This band deserves more exposure. I'm writing an article on Killhipsters . com as we speak. Makes me angry this bad isn't more known and appreciated. They're the Thrice of the heavy scene.
Along with the incredible instruments, great message, and Micah's great metalcore voice, the thing I think sets Oh,Sleeper apart from almost every other Christian metal band is the way the lyrics present a message. They don't need to yell out "God is good" every other line. Their story-like songs present the message in a different way that I personally love. Endseekers was my new favorite song the moment I heard it, stoked for the rest of the album!

Son of the Morning was really good, but Children of Fire is such a better written album. Also the Drop C is much more complimentary to his scream.
(I will make an exception for The Finisher, right up there with Redemption by ABR as best closing track)

Hi guys, im the vocalist in For Thy Kingdom (this account) and i just wanted to say how happy i am that oh, sleeper is releasing a new album, because it was these guys who got me into hardcore music, it was Micah who gave me the drive to start screaming, to start expressing myself through music. It helped me get my life on track and now im the happiest ive ever been, and it all leads back to oh, sleeper <3 i give them all the support in the world, and i cannot wait for this cd :)

Micah's a really cool and genuine human being. I don't necessarily believe in the Christian ways of thinking but I can respect his views because he doesn't come across as an annoying idiot who preaches on a daily basis. Cool dude, great band.

an album that speaks the mind of an atheist and a man who thinks god abandoned him, then an apocalypse in the end..? micah i missed your words of praise and love of god.. i appreciate how im guessing youre trying to express the ideas of others but still.. if i wanted to hear an atheist's words i would look for a different band.. why would he write half an album that no offense sounds blasphemous?

@xXJmG47Xx eh but like endseekers the whole song is about how god abandoned us and so on and i just think its kinda dumb that a christian band would write that and as i said before if i wanted to hear someone saying that god isnt real or how he abandoned us i would look for a different band.. dont get me wrong im no jesus freak but i really look into the lyrics and if it demotes something i think is good (god in this case) or promotes something i think is bad, its hard to like the song..

I'm a christian and you sure as hell won't see me complaining about the themes on this album. The world doesn't need more songs praising God, we have more than enough of those.

Along with the incredible instruments, great message, and Micah's great metalcore voice, the thing I think sets Oh,Sleeper apart from almost every other Christian metal band is the way the lyrics present a message. They don't need to yell out "God is good" every other line. Their story-like songs present the message in a different way that I personally love. Endseekers was my new favorite song the moment I heard it, stoked for the rest of the album!

Being controversial and making songs that actually have deep meaning tied in by story is why Oh, Sleeper is so amazing. I'm so glad they're making an album like Son of the Morning was, but tired together even stronger.

@oxisafox10 it's a concept story themed album. If you want some verses, ask Micah on facebook. The album isnt really bible based but it kinda is. It's more of people and their sinful nature type album like micah said.
