  • To me it sound like was playing Gleen Gould. I am hyphotised by this epic version.

  • Wowhoho! Heifetz is actually playing this... SLOW!!! LOL!! (for slow I mean not slower than the tempo in which this piece is spose to be played, but you know Heifetz... he always play everthing faster!)

  • I beg you, Mister Jascha1415 to put the whole sonata!

  • I think I just came a little in my pants, please post the rest of the sonata

  • Heifetz's deep sense of rhythm can be seen if you just listen carefully...his rhythm was impeccable. It's amazing how he makes an epic story out of this piece.

I shifted to a new pair of high quality speakers that can bring out the sound beautifully at all frequencies. The result is a completely new world of sounds. Especially his sound on the lower strings is so sonorous and warm. It's close to how he sounded in a concert hall.

You simply can't realize Bach without the right equipment.

  • Absolutely Haunting...ethereal! So clean! Beautiful intonation is something that takes music to a whole new level of experience -- whether it is the expert or the layman, when it's as humanly in tune as possible, it's always sounds beautiful. And the way he hangs on the chords, it's as if time just vanishes and the whole atmosphere stands still, hypnotized by the music.

  • This recording is very clear, has it been 'remastered', I wonder?

It sounds wonderful. Thanks so much for posting.

  • @Torahboy1 It seems to have been remastered, i have a recording from 1925-1935, its the same recording, but not as clear as this one.

  • This is a great recording. You said (two years ago) that you have more. I am particularly interested in the Heifetz interpretation of the second part, which is a fugue, and a bit longer. Can you put that up?

  • He looks dashing and so sophisticated. His music is proof of that.

  • this music is so beautiful.... that takes the breath away

  • he has the best rhythm of this agadio, its very hard to get the rhythm just to point out

  • J S Bach is the greatest artist of this world. Now, no need to listen to his music, if i only see his name, i cry....

  • Almost insanely good. He takes this movement and makes a novel out of it. But then, he was/is the greatest of the greats. Thank you very much for posting.

  • can u upload more ? pls

  • Very inspiering, ive never heard violin music like this before.

  • What else is there to say - Boom, The Louis Armstrong of the Violin!!!!!!

  • I love the interpretation...I would only delete the glissandos and do in a single bow stroke the final chord. But it's his style. Viva Heifetz!

  • amazing:)

  • i have studied that piece before...but now i must rethink how i had interpreted it...i think i must study it all from the begining:)

  • do u have fuga from this sonata?)

  • Normally I love all of Heifetz's playing, but on this piece I don't like this recording as much. I mean, he has absolutely amazing tone, as always, but the style just isn't what I enjoy from this piece as much

  • When did he record this?

Do you have Fuga sonata #1 played by him?

  • heifetz and menuhin is the best bach players in the cosmos...

Sobocity, Milstein is incline to romantic or technic works. Heifetz and Menuhin passing it, playing bach how must to be... sharp and clean. thrifty and active but deadly sounds.. Like bach's age.systematical/orderly and stable.. Listen, what we found there.. Legend

  • great I feel peace

  • Of course preferences in music, like perfumes, home cooking, and even friends and spouse! are a matter of taste. To me, Heifetz is the best violinist in the world!

  • please post the rest!

  • Very clean, i have listened to a few versions and tempo a bit slower from the other versions, but sooo clean

  • simply sublime

  • I prefer Milstein's interpretation. Just listen to them back to back

  • @sobocity : totaly agrre with u Heifetz is brilliant! but N.Milstein is better! Maestro Milstein the greatest interpreter of Bach's ever!

  • amazing

  • tőkéletes bal-jobb kéz

  • deffinetely the best version.

  • hands down

  • the presto is boss, i got the recordings

  • simply beautiful

  • Speechless in Manhattan.

  • Ah-mazing,

    Heifetz is a master (obviously).
