I have made a post on my main channel page. It is about whether or not I should make a video on how to make the 'shield' device!! So if you want to impress your friends with your plasma 'shield' or (maybe) kill yourself in the process go to my main channel and like the post!
@Aedazan I'm guessing you're using the magnet from a computer's HDD to hold the rest in place and perhaps attract the plasma (still learning about it). and you said a TV too so are you just using the transformer from a TV to shoot a spark hot enough across the gap to the other metal surface to ionize the air and make plasma? I really wanna make one of my own as i have a few ideas for plasma forcefields and thrusters >:D
@firebomber39 Indeed, I am using the fly-back transformer from a cathode ray television (circa 1970) to output the required voltage. I would highly suggest that you do first year university electrical engineering, might be useful if you haven't done it already :P. I have since refined the design of this device (haven't uploaded it) and am running it off a rectified output fly-back from a 2003 model computer monitor :)
Hello are you still working with plasma? I see this video is 2 years old? What sort of power are you putting into it. How is the plasma made in thin air, what would happen if you ran it into a vacuum gas tube instead?
What is it Shielding? The point of a shield is to protect something from something else. All I can see is that it's protecting the epicenter from being poked with a finger. That could be achieved with a simple flame.
@radioflyer68911 he's calling it a "plasma shield" because in industrial use, these things can maintain a vacuum against 9atmospheres of pressure. In science fiction terms, that means that while admittedly you cant protect your fantasy warp 9 spaceship against your antagonists' torpedos and such, you could, with enough power, have one of those fancy hanger doors that allows ships to enter and exit, while keeping the air tight inside. It could also protect against electrolasers..
last time i electrocuted a magnet, it was with 1 or 2 thousand volts from a microwave transformer and it did not do that, it killed the magnet. that metal ring might be whats preventing direct conduction though. pretty cool.
''I reccomend watching this video in HD'' oh ok *klicks button to turn it to 720p+ and notices it has 480 max* FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! Y U ONLY HAVE 480 WHEN U SAY U HAVE HD!
@healer378 uh you do realize this isnt a real force shield, right, just plasma controlled by a magnetic field? if it were a force shield, I would already be taking over the world LOL
@raptor731 plasma shield in princible is very possible, plasma windows / valves area already in use to allow for a separation of gases and a vacuum.
The issue is, if you wanted something that would be useful as a defensive technology then you run into very real hard energy limits. we are talking about 8 kW/cm it likely much for if you want it to stop something like say a bullet. soo we are talking tW ranges of power.
This is why aliens obduct people, they steal thier ideas, better get thousands of car batteries my friend cuz you gunna need a forcefield around yo house!
You recommend watching in HD yet you didn't upload it in HD...
Shield? Force field? So it's a barrier against something, OK. What exactly does it prevent from penetrating it. Don't call it something it isn't. It's only an electrical ark manipulated by a magnet.
@GamerPheonix01 Just as illegal as it is to own a TV and a Computer, its made out of their parts all functioning as 'intended' just in a different configuration.
I've been trying to figure out how to create plasma like you've done for awhile, i really want to do it as an experiment. Could someone help me by telling me what I need and how to set it up?
If we could place little blotches of this on power armor we could have shielded armor like in Halo. Or we could put i shield like this around cites it could even vaporize radiation.
I think you could make a netted material or fabric that you could run plasma over with ease, since AC current like to travel over a surface rather than through it, then it could be possible to make cloaks, lightsabers, aerodynamic coverings, etc.
basicly its not a stable beam that lasts long enough to make a full 360 degree rotation it just beams at one side then beams the other side so fast that your eye cannot keep up so it looks as if it was spinning
@silentknight2112 AH YES! thats good... means you won't get hit by a lump of metal.. uh.. you just get hit with a lump of melted... metal... still bad?
@Rayden440 Well.. Its a high temperature shield so.. it will probably melt the things that touch it. (Depend on what thing your using to touch the shield)
@FelipeZucchetti Honestly i do not know. Ive turned tungsten into dust with it very easily and it melts various metals such as aluminum iron and copper. Recently i used it to make sodium :D
@lycanzer a huge shield could if it had a big enough power source. It could stop the explosion and the alpha/beta radiation but the gamma and neutron radiation would still easily penetrate the shield
Very cool. I'm not exactly bright when it comes to scientific mumbo jumbo but as an apprentice gun smith/metal worker, would this be an effective way to smelt metals in stead of a forge? Also you say "plasma shield" did you call it that because it can "reflect" objects away? Or did you call it that because it melts things fast?
@FROSTYDEAN15 You know, i had the same idea. If you were able to increase the voltage and repel the discharge away from the body of the 'beam' i suppose it could be possible. Ill give it some thought.
@FROSTYDEAN15 Theoretically, if you could bend magnetic fields to the shape of a lightsaber, then fill that field with high density plasma. it would require a ton of electricity though.
but it would be less awesome because the plasma is kinda like a line between 2 points so it would mostlikley have to be single sided and would only cut one way, also youd need a 50+lb. back pack full of powersupply
If it was in a vacuum there would be far less resistance between the two conductive plates and thus the size of the shield could be drastically increased.
You could always use something like 2 or 3 stun gun batteries to power it, like the 500,000 volt batteries, it would probably power it, and hold a charge for quite a while. Its just a theory, never tested it myself, but plan to one day

That isn't a force field. That's just ionised air.
