  • Really, he just needs to get back to his strong point: being the guy who makes movies about the great hurt of powerlessness being overcome by the realization that your life is extremely important, you have a role no one else can fill, and that there is some weird type of magic in the world that guides you to that role. I think all of that is true and awesome... although "The Last Airbender" made me question if life is really that great. That movie sucked.

  • I don't this movie was very good, but this scene is just weird and beautiful and kind of shows that shyamalan is capable of things other filmmakers are not. If only he can actually get back to making movies that are good all the way through. I don't think he has made his last good movie ("the village" until the last five minutes at this point).

  • Gotta love the highest rated comment. "Derrr peple who dun lyke dis m000vie juzt dunt unnerstand it." Yeah, seen that cliche before. I guess all the thousands of people and critics who called this movie the failure it was just "dunnnn unnnerstanndarddddd it."

  • I LIKE MUSIC !

  • Oh gee, once again something that has like a 6% Rotten Tomatoes rating and Paul "I suck really bad" Giamatti is adored by it's loving youtube fans, how surprising. This is just more proof that we need to open concentration camps, and let's put fans of Carlos Mencia and this movie in them.

  • @Tripo1iSamson So you are for burning people alive for being themselves? Carlos Mencia is not funny for me, but I wouldnt would put him in a camp to be put to death. Giamatti is one of the best character actors in the biz. So for you to say he sucks is hilarious. He is good at pretending to be somebody. Or he wouldnt be in feature films, multiple times. Dope.

  • @bshick07 Yeah, I'm entirely up for, not burning people, but starving and working them to death, and then burning them. You included, as you meet the category of near-useless people.

  • This movie is brutally underrated. Proof that man does not always listen very well...

  • This movie is beyond ridiculous. I mean why do any of these characters care that some bitch fell in the pool? But what really boggles me is how many people love this film! Its like there's a weird cult of Shyamalan idiots. Out of all his movies this one takes the cake, he should of just called it Lady in the Hotel Pool.

  • It's amazing!! Such a touchy scene!!!! I cry everytime I watch this film!!!

  • amzing movie..... amazing score... amazing story.... critics didin't get the true meaning of this modern fairytale....

  • Extremely underrated movie. Absolutely INCREDIBLE, beautiful film.

Those who don't like it, just don't get it so leave it at that, not everyone will appreciate it just as people like different music.

  • Hi, which track is the first 46 seconds from? I have the whole soundtrack, but this part is just not there. It´s similar to the last 30 sec in Prologue track, but not the same... anybody any clues please?

  • @Aelipse hi yeah your right it's almost the same as in the last 30 secs in the prologue, but you can also find it in the track which is called "The Healing", that melody starts at 2:21 in that track :)

it might be in a slightly different key, but it's the closest you could get!

  • Different movies, like different pieces of art or music, speak to different people in different ways. Me, I've always been a sucker for fantasy and for wanting to believe stuff like this is real. So, personally, I loved this film even though most people panned it. Giamatti was great and the story connected with me so I'm glad Shyamalan made it. But I don't expect anyone else to agree; what I like doesn't mean a thing to them and vice versa, right?

  • Amazing

  • love it!

  • That's the movie's best part.

  • Paul. Gia. Fucking. Matti.

  • @jmiller376 his voice trembles this whole scene through. you don't see emotion like that often in films these days

  • how can anyone be awarded a razzie for this?

  • I don't care what people say about M. Night Shyamalan. He showed heartbreak and inspiration in this one powerful scene. Not a simple task.

  • Magical....PERIOD.

  • This is a really deep scene. One of the best moments in the movie. And of course also when the eatlon comes.

  • The Healing- CHRISTIAN THEME! <3 I looooove the music, the setting, the characters, and the fact that they all fall into those archetypes, even though it's wrongly done at first. I seriously wish Night had delved more into the narfs/scrunts background though.

  • that was a baaaaad movie

  • watch her face when the video ends, her lips warp and its freakya s hell

  • AWESOME, one of my favorite scenes of all time. I also like the scene where the find out who the Guardian is, brilliant.

  • This movie is more boring than a turtle race in slow motion!.. no seriously, it SUCKS CORPSES FUNKY BALLS!!!! XD

  • Its an awesome film and this scene is extremely well acted and extremely moving. You clearly have no taste for a good script and could possibly not have understood the whole storyline. Try Power Rangers, there's lots of different colours and sound effects, you'll love it.

  • each and everone of us has a purpose on this earth. we just have to find it :)

  • Bought the DVD years ago and have watched it several times until I actually started to feel the emotions that Knight intended for each of us. Without question, this is one of my top 5 movies of all-time. I went from saying that anyone who went to the theater should be refunded the cost of the ticket to saying this is is a masterpiece.

  • @hertamaniac I completely agree. This is a movie that needs to be seen more than once to fully get it. The first time I saw this, I thought it was just weird. However, after I understood what it was supposed to be, I watched it again, and it suddenly became one of the most incredible movies I've ever seen. And now, it's one of my favorites.

  • What a great emotional movie... Not sure why it was so panned other than the critics were just major butthurt about the portrayal of the critic in the film... Ironic though that they started acting the same way as that character in their reviews... I love it when people don't like being portrayed a certain way but then all they do is act exactly the way... Irony anyone?...

  • I had to watch this for English class and i had to write a essay on it..... why the hell do english teachers want to bring out soooo much of a movie? or a book? just, why?!

  • @element2259 Ah, nuts. It actually is a fair and heartfelt question. Well -- speaking as one, I'll tell you: because it's in there, and you can go from liking a piece to loving it to having it become part of you and your whole understanding of the world, if you will do that work. Not every teacher handles it well, though, and for that I'm sorry. But if it's good, the meanings are in there.

  • @element2259 because its english class.... thats what you're there for , its all about understanding the english language and at the same time increase your vocabulary

  • @georgeman21222 But to be honest, i truly understood why we had to write the essay, however... It's still mind boggling to me about why they go so deep into the book or movie. anyway, thanks for the reply.

  • @element2259 im just saying.. english teachers do that because there also teaching how to understand a story and climaxes and all that goofy shit LOL ... i hated it but nowadays i find myself understanding everything they have taught me soo i dunno i guess some things do stick once you learn them LOL

  • @georgeman21222 Haha, understood. 100% agreed.

  • see this, is the scene that defined the movie. every might think this movie was bad, but i thought it was so intense and passionate and moving. how he put the pieces together, "yeah everything is right now." i loved his goodbye to his family, man. the power of healing.

  • @LATiNAMAMi369 I loved it it was quite different :)

  • This scene made me cry...

  • so beautiful.. i absolutely love the soul searching part.. this part awww

  • This movie - and this scene especially - were fucking great I think; because of it Giamatti's one of my favourite actors now. Thanks to this scene I was inspired for a scene in my own piece of writing; coincedence? No chance. XD

    Epic job Shyamalan.

  • this is so moving. and the chick is so pretty :O awaahhhh :)

  • This is the quintessential fable, told in modern dramatic cinema. It is nothing more or less than that. Those who do not like it probably do not understand that. "I wanted to believe more than most"......... Indeed. Does that not tell us something of the writer?

This is a film made without modern cynicism. And, unfortunately, it is not well-received because modern cynicism is so very prominent.

  • @cmc10101 and here I thought i was the only one who believed that way about this wonderful movie, you've said it better than I ever could. I just hope you don't mind me stealing your words when I defend this and other M Night Shyamalan movies to people who disagree with that POV

  • @bittersweet2311 Ditto. That and I'm sure film critics were offended that the character nobody liked was a movie critic himself

  • @cmc10101 you could use that justification for any terrible movie and walk away saying that its beyond the intelligence of the majority. the fact of the matter is lady in the water is a horrible movie, and you're pretentious

  • @ElnAlter

No, there is no pretense here. Neither in the film nor in the analysis of it.

  • @cmc10101 I fought to find the words to describe how I feel about this film. I simply adore it. That it was a story M Night told his children make it even more magical to me. I watch it often. The music is so beautiful but at the end, I always get the same feeling every single time....hope. Hope for mankind. I greatly enjoyed your review.

  • @cmc10101 i agree

  • this is the most boring movie i have seen. people were walking out of the cinema after 20 minutes

  • @asithgftoc I'm sorry that you and those people have no imagination.

  • @DJCompoz ...........if having an imagination means enjoying boring shit like this then i would rather not have one.....I was actually laughing about how bad it was, seriously

  • @asithgftoc good for you

  • @DJCompoz ...........yeah it is good for me. now fuck off an watch another boring move ya fucking gay cunt

  • @asithgftoc I can't be boring, because i like deadmau5. And by the way, these aren't the only movies i watch. Get out of your tunnel vision dude.

  • @DJCompoz

Mr asithgftoc is getting a bit hostile. Geez.

  • How in the name of all that is decent did this movie not get Oscars?! Especially the soundtrack!! I'm pretty sure that people just hated this movie because of the role Night cast himself in. Whenever I read reviews of this movie, that's all they talk about. Well, so what? James Cameron's ego is a million times bigger than Night's, and people still love him!...okay, I'm done ranting.

  • @ZeldaGiygasLord I agree 100%

  • wtf is going on?

  • This was more excruciated than the happening. Truly M. Night can produce nothing worse than this. Then again, we do have the film Avatar: The Last Airbender.

  • M. Night Shyamalan's movies have so much meaning. You end of thinking about stuff a lot more.

His movies have a sense of purpose.

  • i did a few healings just like this when i prayed to jesus to be the forgiveness of sins, and through the power of the holy spirit (while laying hands on things that needed healing) while refusing to doubt the power of God, every single healing that I prayed for was successful. Miracles are real, the trinity is real. God bless you all.

  • How can anyone honestly hate this movie? People must have a hard time opening their eyes to something beautiful.

  • They BOTH get healed in this scene. Mr Heap of an emotional wound and Story, of her physical wounds.

  • This part always makes me cry. I love this movie.

  • As despised as this movie is, it's still grossly over-rated.

  • i love this film and how you meet all the characters and they all connect for the survival of Story just through their actions and lives.

  • underrated film!

  • was I the only one who thought this movie was awful?

  • best scene in a very underrated movie by a society that has all but lost it's imagination.

  • @NeonMagnolia What drives me crazy is when people say that M. Night's movies aren't imaginative. Lady in the Water and Unbreakable are two of the most uniqe films I've ever seen.

  • this movie have a powerfull meaning each time i wach it mayme think many things i just dont understand why people didnt like this movie well maybe they didnt listen to what they are saying

  • i laughed when he said shut up and try haha and yeaaah i pretty much lost it right here. 3:30-5:17 especially bawling at 4:40 when the music started.

  • An amazing master piece... My second most favorite of all times.... Very few movies can tell a perfect story.... This is one of those very few.... The story of our amazing humanity... This story tells it beautifully

  • @Ronlv001 what's your favorite?

  • @MaxAgond My most favorite of all times is a 22 year old movie based on a real story. The movie is called : The Big Blue.

  • @Ronlv001 the french version or the american?

  • @MaxAgond I like the 1988 version played by Marc Bear and Jean Reno

  • I dont care what anyone sais, M Night is still a great director and writer! Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakabe, the Village, and yes even the Lady in the Water were awesome! The Happening was supposed to be bad, it was a B-Movie. And the Last Airbender is KIDS MOVIE!!! Tell me what would you rather your kids watch... Sharkboy and Lavagirl or The Last Airbender!!!

  • For the majority, this film was shit

this is the one great scene

thanks to Paul Giamatti who is excellent

  • @Eradicus You are so blind... Blind to this amazing master piece... I am sure you have not the slight clue to what this movie is all about

  • @Ronlv001 I've seen this movie, and I enjoyed it on some levels, but for the majority it was quite poor. I like Shylaman - I really like The Happening, Unbreakable, Signs, Sixth Sense, even the Village was okay - and I really like Paul Giamatti, and this scene is beautiful, but it doesn't make up for the rest of the film.

  • but also.. how the fuck do u read cerial boxes wrong

  • I just like this movie all together...

  • Dear lord, this dialogue is horrible! I can't believe M. Night thought this was going to be any good. The only good thing about it is Paul Giamatti's acting, but even he can't redeem this god-awful hunk of crap.

  • @Swalter95 I agree the dialogue is awful, but, surprisingly, I really enjoyed this movie. Yes, it's extremely flawed, but if you just go along with the movie, it's a blast. Yes, you have to get through the acting & dialogue, but the story and the creativity of it all makes it worth your time.

  • @Swalter95 Some people just have life pass them by without understanding half of it....

  • The one great scene in this film

almost, ALMOST redeems it from awfulness. Paul Giamatti is fantastic

  • I do not understand how anyone could watch this film and not be moved, unless what they expect from a film is a cheap thrill, a few explosions, some sex scenes and a layer of hollow dialogue.

  • one should note that most of M. Night Shyamalans films are about dealing with grief, especially with death. This makes me cry so much when I see this.

  • It's great the way he shoots the first half of this scene from his characters perspective.

  • These scene is AMAZING to say the least. Brilliant ! A rare gem in today's special effects made movies.....It is such a powerful message and such a beautiful testimony to our amazing humanity. Every word in the scene is a message....Every part of it is a part of the picture of our beautiful humanity in its full glory.....

This group is us....People...Humanity. TOGETHER WE HAVE AN AMAZING POWER .... Together we are ONE . Everyone of us has a role... A purpose... Together we shine.

  • Oh ...wow (wipes away tears) now that is one of the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, love knows no boundaries, it doesnt matter who you love and how you love, it just brings healing to anyone and everyone regardless.

  • This is the part that brought me to cry deeply. I just LOVED it. When he says "I miss your faces. And how they remind me of God. I'm so lost without you guys" I busted up then. Cuz it reminded me of how I feel about my son and his mother and being without them. That writing of Shyamalan's is just phenomenal. I'm so thankful for it. And James Newton Howard did a spectacular job with the music in Signs, The Village, and this.

  • why is she blond in the last shots!!?¿ she had red hair in the begining of the movie!! someone who knows please answer

  • @Magnank

She finished her role in our world.... She completed her task...She was willing to sacrifice herself for US...... She became PURE.....It is a symbol to show this all....

She was ready for the great eagle to take her up into the sky.....

  • @Magnank its because she was weak from being out of the water and being injured, if you notice they show her progressively get weaker. Thats why they keep putting her in the shower. Hope that helps. :)

  • my favorite movie moment -- it inspired the video i made on my page. to me this scene is about letting go of pent-up grief... it's so moving.

  • this movie touched me deeply and Paul Giamonti is such a great actor! and whaen he is talking about his family i always cry!

  • Shyamalan is brilliant.

  • i like how this is very spiritual, it says in the bible when more than one hand gathers in prayer miracles can happen. i love how the music is so emotional and the acting is beyond me. i always cry at this part because it touches my heart. great movie, great story

  • Never liked this movie -- it was far too self-indulgent on Shyamalan's part -- but what a great scene.

it resonates with me on a very deep and personal level, as I'm sure it does with anyone who has ever lost a child.

  • I just realized when he starts talking to "bring out his energy", he's addressing his dead family, not the people in the room. God, i love this scene.

  • Amazing how Night can create such power and emotion from what is essentially nonsense and pure fantasy. Love it ! Giamatti oozes class all the way.

  • i'll be honest I didn't care for the movie when i first saw it. once i finished the movie i watch it again a day later..... i just had a strange need to want to watch it again. so i did and i really enjoyed the movie far more the 2nd time.

    love the music too

  • I LOVE 2:39.

  • tears pouring down my face.

  • great scene...though I wonder how did he know the korean girl and the indian girl were umber six and seven of the seven sisters?

  • This scene, through its simplicity, is incredibly moving. There is something here that resonates with us - a truth about the human condition that we all can relate to. Everyone should watch this movie.

  • @Roperious agreed!!!!

  • the guy w/ the glasses in this movie.. idk his name, but hes a good actor! =D i also liked him in The illusionist

  • Paul Giamattii? Yes, he's a great actor. I liked The Illusionist along with this one.

  • Yes I knew I remembered him from another movie! He's great....good taste in movie parts too.

  • This acting is fucking number one, Tear to my eye. 19 stars

  • This scene is shit. Shyamalan is a hack.

  • @thewoof Ditto. He hasn't made a good movie since the 6th Sense, they've just progressively gotten worse and worse. But hey, some people (not me) like movies like this, so I dunno.

  • this scene always brings a tear to my eye

  • so it's basically. The Narf. The Writer. The Healer. The Guild. One with no secrets. One who's word is respected. The Interpreter. The Guardian.

chilling when the 7sisters touch mr. heep's back in order to make the healing begin.....spine chilling.

  • What's neat about this particular scene is that as story gets healed, so does Mr. Heap (inner healing). So much in life, in helping others we are made to confront and face things that have hurt us and in turn, find ourselves being helped, healed.

  • Did you know there are angels here on earth in human form and they do not always realise it, some do and that changes everything for them....they start to develop their celestial instincts, growing in their powers and abilities because they are AWARE....enabling them to better perfomr their divine mission here on earth...if we are AWARE too, we see who they are....it becomes really obvious...they like to be kept secret generally, because attention can not always be a good thing...unless it is!!!

  • What would u do if you met a real angel in human form?!

  • Angels are here with us...always...they are everywhere, some in human form...caring, comforting, having fun...being the friend God designed them to be....Believe me....I am sure of it....I am

  • This is not about "angels"--that is just Heep's belief about who she might be.

  • This is really a great mordern day tale, so many people dont like this film, but there are many underlying points about life and humanity this film brings to light. We All have gifts. Beautiful film imo. James Newton Howard is amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • He doesn't say "although".

  • Oh, sorry, thanks. I love this movie. :)

  • ahh, this part makes me cry...

  • This is a beautiful film. Stop bitching about the author and just enjoy it, you small-minded, cynical, pitiful people.

  • And just like that M. Night had me in tears.

  • i dont like the way ,every movie m night shyamalan makes he gives him self a bigger part each time

  • he has every right to its his film, if I made a movie id totally give myself a part as long as I knew I could act it out right and he did a damn good job I liked him in this movie.

  • blah blah blah

  • ......you seriously responded with blah blah blah?......like seriously?

  • yadda yadda yadda...

  • NOW YADDA YADDA YADDA?........you sir are a loose cannon

  • cannon , shmannon

  • a picture is worth a thousand words, photos of your pain will speak volumes

  • No wonder you hate this movie you're athiest! haha XD jk jk jk

  • hehe :). Well nah it really doesn't have anything to do with it i just think i can see why it got bad reviews.... But i like the songs of it :o.

  • Whose acting in particular? I think that when he begins to heal her and his emotions flow out and he breaks down crying its about as real and touching as one can get, im sure he tapped deep down somewhere to someone he lost to get that kind of real emotion out, I dont like the kid from heroes who read the message wrong, his acting is terrible, but not the main person acting in this video....please exlpain huh?

  • @Atheist269 I don't believe in God, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the beauty of this. You're so close minded if you can only operate, and only view things, on your own level.

  • @Eradicus .... i think the soundtrack is amazing, i just said the acting is pretty shitty imho but maybe i'm wrong. i actually try to be open minded.

  • loved the movie but the part with the child reading things in the cornflakes was just dumb.

  • Hello everybody, please can someone tell me the name of melody in this scene?

  • It's "The Healing", by James Newton Howard... the entire score is beautiful. Bye!

  • Comment removed

  • This scene is amazing. I love how Cleveland speaks to his family through her. It's so sad. You can tell he's been holding it in for what seems like a life-time.

  • @atticus805 oh, totally. It makes me tearful everytime I see it on dvd. Beautifully directed by Shyamalan.

  • That's the baseline of this scene and the climax of this movie....forgiveness through the power of healing. So many have dispelled my praise of this movie, due to the "lines" spoken and not having deepness of thinking. Atticus805...kudos to you! This is in my top 10 movies of all time...primarily because of this scene.

  • this scene is such a tear jerker. One of my favourite films actually. This scene, its just great how he talks to his family through her. Its a goodbye and an apology and its actually amazing!

  • if they can truly watch this scene without being moved... then they have a heart of stone... and they are to be pitied above all men. This whole film is written as a modern fairytale. Because of that you need to take it in childlike. If you don't understand that, you've grown old and bitter before your time. If all you can do is spit and mock at things... then you are actually wasting oxygen that could be better spent by some other poor individual.

  • Holy Hell are you just constantly defensive, do you react before you think, or are you just a person that likes to create arguments. It was a huge compliment that I gave this movie, you misunderstood... I was stating that all the recent mass produced fake emotion from hollywood lacks HEART, totally UNLIKE this movie. Take a look at my comment again with an open mind and with out being defensive and you will see it in another light!

  • I wasnt talking to you chill out I just said it cos i felt like it ;)

  • And That Is What Is Missing From So Many Movies Today... HEART!

  • *sob*

  • all the people in the complex are like THIS DUDES NUTS till all the stuff at the end goes down then their like uuuuuhhhhhh

  • This movie was a piece of crap!

  • Pfft the chick's face is so terribly ugly.

  • Fuck off!! Bryce is absolutely beautiful!

  • Such a powerful scene, his words and his emotions coming out for his lost family are so strong, amazing, beautiful. Gets me teary eyed every time.

  • Such an incredible scene... so very powerful.

  • ..best movie,scene and soundtrack..!

  • It gives me chills when he says about Story, "but she has to go home..."

  • i love this movie

  • Go to hell, usasameichan.
