  • Spiritual Insperation.

  • My father passed away 12 years ago. and today would of been his 69 birthday. I found this song by rick when i was looking for his classics. HAY DAD I HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR! This had to have been a sign................

  • 5 hours and 16 minutes

    .

  • My Father passed away this day last year. My brother and I had this played at his funeral. It will always remind us how much our father meant to us and to others. We love you so much Dad XXX

  • God Bless you Dad xx this song is for you. Gone but not forgotten

  • My father died 4 days ago from cancer. He was my best friend and a great father and man. I remember when Rick wrote this song and it touched me. Now, 25 years later, it makes sense. Thank you for this song-Kelly McLeod

  • I have a been a fan of Rick's since I can remember (41 now). My father is still alive, but this song still makes me think of everyone who has lost their father. Tears well up every time. Oh, and I'm a fellow Aussie!!!

  • My Father has been gone now for almost 37, he committed suicide when I was going on six, I look in the mirror and see his face, there are times I cry and get mad at the reflection. I miss him so much.

  • Can't listen to this without crying.

It has to be said that I'm a 20 year old guy, and one of the rare emotional types

  • This song reminds me of my Daddy. Just lost him 11/22/10. I was a Daddy's girl from the time I drew my first breath and I always will be. My Daddy Was Truly a hero fighting for our country in Sigon Vietnam. He is Staff Sargent Richard Vaughan for the United States Marine Corps. almost 9moths from his passing and the pain is horribly unbearable. Daddy I miss you so very much. You were only 58 years old when I watched your strong hands fold for the last time.

  • Beautiful song.

  • my daddy had his chair too!! he passed a year after yours!!!1 norman james springthorpe vs. paul edward gardner... <3 ya rick!!!

  • @HezzieG Did you find him all rotted and bloated with skin rotting off and maggots in his eye sockets like Rick found his dad?

  • @HezzieG Was wondering?.... Did he go to hell??

  • This sad song is about his dad for sure. What it really is about is when he went and found his father dead in it. The door to the house was locked , so he had to crawl in a side window in his dad's bedroom. When he turned on the light he got a very gruesome sight. His dad had apparntly passed away the week before and was unnoticed by neighbors or other family members. The summer heat had rotted the body terribly, his eyes had roten out of their sockets and maggots bore into the open holes

  • Really beautiful! 8) Great job on the video!

  • I'm reading his autobiography now, he has had some real tough times in life, it breaks my heart. What a beautiful, touching, song.

  • I first heard this song not long after my father died of cancer. It still brings a tear to my eye. Thank you for posting this.

  • So soothing, so uplifting, so touching, todays's music doesn't approach anywhere near this.

  • My Brother Mother & I held my Father's funeral this Wednesdsay & had this song played while people had quiet time to reflect and pray - the words just say it all. God bless you Dad, I love you and miss you so much XXXXX

  • My Daddy died in 1983 when I was 14 and I heard this song than and I cried and till this day I still cry just as hard. I miss and love you Daddy...sleep with the angels

  • Knowing my dad's days are numbered makes me want to go and see him NOW! Hope he is in town for his usual treatment on Wednesday at a specialty clinic at the VA. Wish he was here every day. Can't wait to be well enough to go and spend a day with him!

  • I lost my daddy about 2 years ago and this really hits home!!! Thank you Rick!!!

  • I just checked my old LP's and i noticed i had written "bought ´85" inside this album.

    My brother loved this song.

  • i miss this song!

  • These days, we hardly have contemplative music like this; it's mostly bass, metal scratching noises, & repetition of a few extreme vulgar words from beginning to end. Springfield & Wagner possessed two of the most distinguished voices from the 1980s. Although most people associate him with JESSE's GIRL, MY FATHER'S CHAIR is one of Rick Springfield's great little songs about man & his contemplation about life, love, & losses. It's filled with hauntingly meaningful lyrics & sublime piano solo.

  • My father died better than 18 years now and his chair is still there i lost my mom about 5 years ago there is just me and my brother now but neither of us have really got past that well time help but nothing will ever heal it

  • beautiful

  • i love this song, though my father's still alive. i hope my father and i would patch up our differences while he's still alive. i hope it's not yet too late.

  • I miss my dad.

I hope one day my son will miss me too.

  • Thanks wolverin,

makes me miss and think about my father who passed away...i have his fav chair.

Great song from my generation the 80's!

  • Just love it! Thanks for sharing <3
