His toupee looks like it's still only about 20! Seriously, though, what I always loved about Tony is he always looks like he's having a damn good time up there singing.
thats an asshole thing to say, evidentely u dont enjoy these wonderful clips as much as the rest of us do. as francis albert would say "scram bum, who needs ya?" GET LOST
I merely noted that a viewer's comment was an actual quote by Sinatra about Bennett. Sinatra's praise deserves to be remembered: He described Bennett as "a singer's singer."
Now, please, go back to listening to Britney Spears or whatever crap you enjoy, and leave the rest of us to enjoy Bennett's wonderful talents.
Yeah your totally right dude and sinatra was always very nice to fellow singers he kept dean and sammy close like brothers Who do you think is a better singer bennett or sinatra ?
alright i respect your opinion i will not argue but still i think sinatra gives more emotion and rythm without a orchestra he does not need that but anyways i like tony bennett too and i like his tribute to sinatra he has a very unique voice that only some people used to have those days tony is awesome !
I'd agree that perhaps SInatra showed more emotion when he was much younger, but IMHO he later developed this fake 'tough-guy' image as his voice began to fail (in the late 1970's), so that he completely depended on orchestrations to hide the weakness in his vocal abilities, yet here's Bennett at age 78, sounding like someone in his 50's, still hitting those high, high notes.
The unusual tempo gets your attention, then he proceeds to put the Bennet stamp on it. Great singer, and nice of him to give credit to the person who introduced it.
I vowed that one day I would see Tony Bennett live on stage. Last sunday night in London that vow was realised. Each song was delivered with true artistry. He conducted the audience as if they where a collective musical instrument designed to produce applause and affection in equal measure. The songs were as ageless as love, and therefore, so is he. He is, in short, a master of his craft with a deep and good soul. God bless him.
I seriously doubt Israel's version is the most famous... heh! Judy's "Over the Rainbow" was voted the song of the century... and who in the world hasn't heard her sing it?
I was 15 when this happened and followed all the stereotyped music styles, now though i'm 17, I wish he would come back to Leeds. Anyone know which part of Leeds this was? Was it Temple Newsam?
I wonder why just about every singer skips the lyrics up to where it says ...just a place beyond the raibowalmost all skip that and start with ...sommewhere over the rainbow... beautidul nevertheless all of them.
I find it quite funny how he looks the same compared to this, witch was probably 20 years ago

who is the original singer to this song?

It was was sung in the movie The Wizard of Oz, 1939. Now, the most famous version is by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, a hawaian artist who died in 1997.

Judy Garland sang it in the movie. Tony Bennet says her name at end of the song.
He's still singing at 80, and he makes it seem so easy.
