"The IWC's prestigious Scientific Committee revealed fundamental flaws in Japan's "scientific research" whaling operation, Tuesday, including Lack of testable hypotheses, Failure to take performance measures; Inappropriate use of ecosystem models & Failure to include key components."
"Other flaws in Japan's "scientific papers", criticized by the IWC, include Japan's selective or inappropriate use of data."
You are right. They called this the "Europe first policy". Seems like Europe was more important for the U$A to fight the "evil" Russians than Japan was.
se puede entender que la caza de ballenas sea parte de la cultura japonesa. Pero la cantidad de ballenas que se pretende cazar es monstruosa, y fuera de la concideraciones ecologistas, la vision que tiene el mundo de japon sera muy perjudicada.

WHALE MEAT FOUND TO CAUSE IRREVERSIBLE BRAIN DAMAGE
Mercury, a potent neuro-toxin, has now been shown to cause irreversible neurological damage. Severe cases resulted in Coma or Death.
Even in Low concentrations Japanese scientists found mercury causes damage to the nervous system, children are even more at risk. Exposure to methylmercury may be irreversible & can cause developmental brain problems
EIA Chemical analysis showed extreme levels in both whale & dolphin products
You shouldn't believe what the Japanese gouvernment says. They're basically a bunch of nationalist old men who declare things like "women are just babies-making machines".
Most Japanese people just don't pay attention to the politics. Hence their politicians suck. But I still love Japan.
Totally agree with poe1213. Furthermore, aren't whales a migratory species? What difference does it make whether they are hunted off Japan's coast or in Antartic waters-its all bad.
Antartic waters are international waters, which is illegal.
Also the ones in Japan's coast are regulated so that they do not go extinct. Whales are animals, just because its big doesnt make them different then eating cows or chickens. If killing one is wrong, then killing both should be wrong.

WHALERS HELP POISON THEIR OWN PEOPLE & CHILDREN:
"A Scientific panel has ruled that meat from whales contains dangerous levels of chemicals & PCBs 10-1000 x higher than even fish, Monday."
"Our advice is not to eat whale meat," due to the impact on child's brains, said Janneche Utne Skaare, deputy director of the Nordic Natl Institute.
"Japan, Norway, & Denmark have issued advisories against eating whale meat sold by whalers because of brain damage due to toxic mercury."

C'est vrai, on a besoin de plus d'organizations comme Sea Shepherd qui ne combattent pas le massacre aux baleines seulement pour de l'argent.
