Just a small thing. it is not nintendo nes. cause think wouldn't that be redundant? because the *n* in nes stands for nintendo. so really you are saying "nintendo nintendo entertainment system"
Double Dribble for NES is actually a localization of a Japanese game called Exciting Basket that Konami made for the FamiCom Disk System. It was not originally a conversion of the arcade game. Some changes were made to Exciting Basket to make it a bit more similar to the arcade game Double Dribble, such as the slam dunk close-ups being added. I always used to wonder why this game was called Double Dribble when you could never cause that foul in the NES version.
i agree with the cut scene players being grey becuase of the jersey colours, but i also lke to believe that they are grey caused its supposed to be like a slow mow epic moment where your player is immortalized in silver :)
This is a BLATANT ripoff of super basketball, a great 80's basketball game that wasn't ported to any home system that I know of. I play it on MAME. I think it's by Kanomi.
Was it an official sequel? Which one was first? I remember when I was a kid being pissed because super basketball and mat mania weren't available for home systems (Mat Mania was available for 7800, but I didn't have a 7800).
its probably a plaque aka mvp or something. only game i never lost in. boston and player2! 3's from top corner automatic and unblock-able. plus averaged about 80 steals a game. lol
By the way, the CPU wasn't just playing Boston "this time" - it always uses Boston. I'm like Donnie, though - Chicago is my team of choice! And proximity to the basket is supposed to have control over the kind of dunk you get. Being on the basket, for instance, executes the back dunk, which was by far and away my favorite dunk to watch.

I remember in one of the early NBA Live games hot spots you could stand at the bottom by the half court line and always make the shot for 3.

It is made by Konami, as was Double Dribble. It's not a ripp-off if you made both games. Usually, it's called a sequel.

3:19 - I think it said "Rough Fowl" or something... sounds a lot closer to Roosevelt though.
5:23 - It looks like it says "3rt period start"
BTW, I like the intro music.
Hiryu7777 3 years ago
It does say "3rt period start." I knew about that error, but missed it in the NES review. I though it was only in the arcade version. Good eyes.

In due time. Both series' are pretty complex games and take a lot of planning to squeeze into a 10 minute review. But they are in the works.

I enjoyed the mascots at half time. Also -- those people are real close to the court. I guess they didn't have very good seating back in the day, eh.
