Hold on, somebody's confused. Your pickups, and guitar in general, are far more important to your tone than any amp. Yes, you'll get a lot closer with decent examples of both guitar and amp, but without good tone to start, your amp doesn't have good tone to amplify. It works in reverse too, crap guitar through good amp still = crap. I will say, get a tube amp. Almost any. I reccommend bugera's v22 or v55. @nickvisstick The amp makes waaaaayyyyy more of a difference than pickups.. A standard strat through a good clean amp (maybe a tubescreamer, too) will get you incredibly close, with some fiddling. An expensive strat with really, really good pickups through a crap amp = nowhere near it.
