sound, guys, sound. what you're doing is important. use sound in your videos and get kids excited so they can take your place for better reason than being able to put sound on a video. and hopefully something better than a boring voice recorded inside a concrete box. keep the party going. PS: i recommend dubstep.
Thank you, ATLAS team, and congratulations on getting to 7 TeV! I watched the live video on the startup day, and used your bandwidth on the public-facing part of the OP Webtools site with great excitement! It's really nice of CERN to share that interface with the world.
Looking forward to reading about all of the wonderful discoveries made with your new toy :-)

I love the video but I can't get my non physics friends excited about it without sound

Cern is a reversed engineered black hole.

why is matter alsways displayed as a sphere? its an energy wave, not a solid ball.

i agree! all those super brainy guys and billions of dollars...yet you cannot make a video with sound???? The mind boggles!

@KasparHauser4 i dont think protons really make sound :) i bet the collider and the detectors hum and buzz though
Neeboopsh 1 year ago
So we paid 4.6 billion swiss francs and all we got was this lousy video? ;) ...just joking. What is that white line escaping the detector?
veers0r 1 year ago
@veers0r so you don't sort of white line hater? :P Cant you see how pretty they are?
I wonder how accurate this animation has made, looks not munch accurate to real collision, but still thanks. At least some information how it's been.
TankT9 1 year ago
@veers0r That white line is a muon. The most energetic ones may actually cross and leave the detector.
This animation was produced within 30 minutes of the event occurring and yes, it's accurate.
