If you read thru Faithfull Marianne does go into detail about what her living situation was like around this time. That and What's the Hurry from Broken English that too is about drugs. Mariannes past is interesting to people. I am just glad she is still making records and is she still having Frances Bean Cobain stay with her in Paris does anyone know? Those two together!
Thanks for the comment. I didn't know this song was on that album, I'll have to get it someday. This isn't my favorite song from her, I don't know if it is autobiographical or not, and maybe I don't want to know.
Hard to say what it is about, or if it is autobiographical. The credits on the album sleeve say it was written by Ben Brierly, who was her husband in '79/'80.
Worth mentioning that this song is on the 1979Broken English Album. A classic landmark album and this is probably the weakest track from it, not that I dislike like it, but then Broken English & Working Class Hero are in a different dimension!
Yes, one of the forgotten 'Broken English' tracks, done live by Marianne very rarely as it is a bit weak. Still, I love the sound of the band and her vocals here which satisfyingly invigorate this old one. Did you get your copy of her newest, 'Easy Come Easy Go'? It takes my breath away!
Thanks music why show Marianne looking bad vs. Angelic? Morality tale?? Sexist 2 me.

@kirkindysolospock It really sounds to me like it is describing addiction and a relationship between addicts.
