  • Is the head didnt have a body, how did they know it was a male?

  • geraldine always spoils the joke.. she doesn't get any of them

  • its alice who doesn't get the jokes, geraldine is the vicar:)

  • @frannyiscool my bad.. i meant alice

  • alice is so funny she makes the jokes 10 times funnier

  • I LOVED every minute of this show and have all the DVD's - they're my favourite!

  • I think alice is soooooo hot... :)

    OMG LMAO!

  • the jokes and always that funny, but Alice's responses make them hilarious!

  • The difference between a noun and an adverb....

    Deadpan morose, and yok-a-thon...

It is an old joke...(not a bad thing)...

    Great routine.

  • couldn't have been a better finish to a fantastic show, only disappointment is that i was telling that joke for years before this and now everyone thinks that i copied it from here

  • the really sad thing is that i didn't get joke after the guy explained it and she starts laughing and starts pointing to her head!!!!!!! =/

Alice is the BEST!!!!!! so funny

  • haha!!x, this made me laugh so much :Dx

  • Britcoms are generally good, but this show was among the very best - up there with Faulty Towers and Mr. Bean for the clever complexity of story lines that somehow always managed to come together for the final punchlines.

  • Ha ha, love the vicar of dibley :)

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA shes always so depressed after the jokes xD

  • I loved this show from the first time I saw it, the quaitness of the village, the motley crew of people. I used to watch French and Saunders, then AbFab, the caught this. It is my favourite, the Keeping up Appearances, the Are you being served. Think PBS will ever put on Footballers Wives? Certainly more entertaing then Mi5

  • When this series first aired via PBS we were contacting our local PBS affiliate about them adopting it for the next season. Then the horrible news came. There were no more episodes. Evidently it crashed in England. But once the wave of enthusiasm hit the states and bounced back they rushed it back into production. We were then glued to our tellies every Sunday night. We begin with Being Served, then Keeping Appearances,, then Times Go By, then Vicar. Sunday nights have never been better!

  • Rubbish :) It never crashed. It was hugely popular and still is.

    Brilliant!

  • Ooooo shirty!

  • LOL!!! I heard this joke years ago...maybe in the 70's in Canada...and for got about it. Still is funny!

I love this show...and look forward to the jokes at the end. They are mostly old jokes...but the way that Alice reacts to them is better than the joke itself.

I am in Canada and only seeing this series in reruns for the first time...and am loving it!

  • @noadlor I actually always thought Alice was kind of embarrassed by the off-color nature of the Vicar's jokes, and that's why she pretended to not "get" them.

  • Supreme comedy. Just superb. There's NOTHING like British comedy. Nothing.

Thank Heaven for BBCAmerica on American TV.

  • Christ, he's sexy.

  • Lol!! The end is so funny =D

    Alice is hilarious!

  • i love the series...and alice is definitely one of my favourite rolls...she reminds me constantly of my boyfriends not so popular aunt (in looks as well as in personality...and brain capacity) and she gives the whole family a good reason for a giggle ;D

these last two (the constipated accountant and this one) are my favourites!!!

  • My fave !Lol

  • Where was Richard all this time to describe to Alice what a joke is? ;)

I love how Alice finally gets a joke :)

    How i love this show

  • This show was one laugh from beginning to end, brilliant writing, favorite for me, when she and Alice went to see Johnny Depp. Alice is a trip!

  • This is a so funny joke!

  • The man must have the patience of a Saint. lol

  • I love the jokes :)

  • ROFLMAO! I love Richard, he must be amazing to explain something so Alice gets it!

  • who is richard?

  • Richard Armitage AKA Harry Kennedy :)

  • oooh, the actor. ok

  • Richard Armitage is always the voice of reason.

    Very funny!

    Thanks so much for posting.

  • "...that boy should have quit while he was ahead"

  • rofl

  • I bet Harry was having a good laugh in the background.

  • @Asprothecat harry potter?

  • lmao! i love this show

  • well I'm an American and I agree Britcoms are 1.000.000 times better AND funnier than what we have today here that tries to pass for comedy. Up Britcoms!

  • I'm American, too, and I love British comedy; It's not filled with overly crude jokes about sex or bodily functions.

But when they do have such jokes they're, you know, funny.

  • Shame that they only made 25 episodes of Vicar of Dibley.

  • really? only 25, wow seems like loads

  • yeh it seem like they made loads

  • yeah, 25 is a shock. I noticed that with Only Fools and Horses - there seemed to be millions of them! But after I bought the DVDs I found there were only like 6 per series. I guess that was the random way the BBC repeated them though.
