couldn't have been a better finish to a fantastic show, only disappointment is that i was telling that joke for years before this and now everyone thinks that i copied it from here
Season 1 "The Arrival" 10 Nov, 94 "Songs of Praise" 17 Nov, 94 Community Spirit 24 Nov, 94 The Window 1 Dec, 94 Election 8 December, 94 Animals 15 December, 94 ( Two Year Hiatus) No shows produced !!!!! The Easter Bunny Special 8 April, 96 The Christmas Lunch Incident 25 December, 96 BallyKissDibley - Comic Relief 14 March 97 (BBC Distributes the show to the U.S.A. and it becomes successful and BBC has to sign all the actors to new contracts.) Series 2 starts 26 Dec97
Britcoms are generally good, but this show was among the very best - up there with Faulty Towers and Mr. Bean for the clever complexity of story lines that somehow always managed to come together for the final punchlines.
I loved this show from the first time I saw it, the quaitness of the village, the motley crew of people. I used to watch French and Saunders, then AbFab, the caught this. It is my favourite, the Keeping up Appearances, the Are you being served. Think PBS will ever put on Footballers Wives? Certainly more entertaing then Mi5
When this series first aired via PBS we were contacting our local PBS affiliate about them adopting it for the next season. Then the horrible news came. There were no more episodes. Evidently it crashed in England. But once the wave of enthusiasm hit the states and bounced back they rushed it back into production. We were then glued to our tellies every Sunday night. We begin with Being Served, then Keeping Appearances,, then Times Go By, then Vicar. Sunday nights have never been better!

Do your research. Season one was produced in 1994. They produced 6 episodes total, not more, none. It ended. It was over, the parrot was dead, it was a dead parrot! Look at your episode guide before you sprout out YOUR rubbish. It ended in 1994. Shut down, stopped. They produced and distributed 6 total episodes and it was done! Season #1 began 3 years later after PBS agreed to show it to yank audiences. People like me loved it and spurred it back into production. Do YOUR Research!!!!
LOL!!! I heard this joke years ago...maybe in the 70's in Canada...and for got about it. Still is funny!
I love this show...and look forward to the jokes at the end. They are mostly old jokes...but the way that Alice reacts to them is better than the joke itself.
I am in Canada and only seeing this series in reruns for the first time...and am loving it!

@noadlor I actually always thought Alice was kind of embarrassed by the off-color nature of the Vicar's jokes, and that's why she pretended to not "get" them.
i love the series...and alice is definitely one of my favourite rolls...she reminds me constantly of my boyfriends not so popular aunt (in looks as well as in personality...and brain capacity) and she gives the whole family a good reason for a giggle ;D
these last two (the constipated accountant and this one) are my favourites!!!

i had an alice moment when i watched this ep on chrissy eve, lol it was rather embarassing, i didn't get the joke at first, but then i laughed all night. but yes this is by far one of the best vicar of dibley end jokes.
Yes, when geraldine asked her what was brown and sticky (a stcik) then alice went off on one saying that trees were different colours etc and that some sticks are sticky because of the sap lol.
well I'm an American and I agree Britcoms are 1.000.000 times better AND funnier than what we have today here that tries to pass for comedy. Up Britcoms!
lol, that was hillarious. I love british comedy, American comedy is always so obvious and has to so mind numbingly easy to understand that to anyone with half a brain its boring
I love Richard's little bit when he is explaining the joke, he is so sexy, that voice, that face, so hot. My favorite ending line for him is when he said "Could we go on our honeymoon now" the way he says it, smiling, and half laughing it is so adorable.
yeah, 25 is a shock. I noticed that with Only Fools and Horses - there seemed to be millions of them! But after I bought the DVDs I found there were only like 6 per series. I guess that was the random way the BBC repeated them though.
