this is different to the remington m1911 i disassembled a few weeks ago. the main differences were that the barrel bushing was rotated counter-clockwise after the slide had been removed and also the recoil spring doesnt come off till you remove the slide. this is just in case anyone else has a problem with remington 1911s

WRONG ! First you press the magazine release button to check there is no live ammunition in the mag. THEN you lock it to open positions and check the chamber.
