wow dude, you have the closest prediction on the pacquiao cotto fight. very good analysis and not biased at all. anyways, could make a post fight video for that pacquiao cotto fight? thanks!
I still can't believe that the Mayweather vs Marquez fight did a million buys. There is a big possibility that that number is inflated (or maybe over inflated).
Your logic is twisted! 1st you make the case for fighter A who defeats fighter B; and A wins then it does not lead automatically for fighter A defeating C. Simply put styles make fights. Then you contradict yourself??? Pacman is a nice likable guy ,but most of you guys allow your emotionalism to affect your judgment. Boxing always depends on who shows up that night! All emotions aside Pac is tailor made for a PBF. I honestly dont think many of you will be able to watch that fight to conclusion
Where have u gone Islander! Would love to hear your views on the Haye Valuev fight, plus the huge showdown between cotto and the pac man, it has to be a cracker! I know i speak on behalf of all boxing info fans in wanting to see a new vid from yourself.
mate can u make a video on the upcoming fight on pacquiao vs cotto and tell us what you think about the fight tonight between chad dawnson and glen johnson. thanks mate and more power to you
Hey man... what's going on.. haven't seen a video in a while Was looking forward to your take on Pacman-Cotto as well as your take on the last few fights. Always good to hear from you man. Hope to see a new one soon. Peace!
has anybody seen the two good fights i saw/heard last week. mayweatherjr-RA the ruggedman debate. RA owned Jr! This is way better than the Brian Kenny one.
We need a video on the Super Six from you brotha!!
Also whom do you think if Floyd fought and won against would you then give him respect and put him up their with the greatest of all time. Mine are Margarito(when he comes back), Cotto, Pac and Mosely...that will answer a lot of questions and scepticism in my view.
killerpriest- Being compared with Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Ali, Armstrong, Duran etc. requires more than just a few PPV extravaganzas, look at the number of fights just Ali and Louis or Chavez. I'm not expecting FMJ to have 100 fights but 50-60 would be a threshold that even the most skeptical person would have to acknowledge.
And on the Super 6 - Did I not tell all of you Jermain Taylor DID NOT belong in with these hungry killers?
True, you did, but I already knew that Taylor wasn't going to beat the hard hitting Abraham. If Mayweather fought and beat the guys I mentioned would you then give him respect?
1. Come on brother, we need a video on the first round of the Super Six we miss you, you and Ashy Knuckles are the only boxing Youtube critics I respect!!! xD
2. Whom do you think if floyd fought, and won, would you finally give him respect? My list is, Pac, Mosely, Cotto, Margarito(after a couple of convincing wins when he comes back) and then I would rank him in the top 20 all time as far as pure skill and talent and wins. -What do you think?
Like you, I am a passionate boxing fan. And, as such, we want to see the best fights.
I understand and respect that we haven't been able to test the depth (or lack thereof) of Floyd's greatness (or lack thereof) because Mayweather hasn't really been put through the crucible.
It frustrates us ALL to hear him say that he is beating these guys with his" B game". Got that.
So, yes. PBF needs to show us what his "A game" is. And tougher comp may bring that "A game" out.
a) if this fight makes $ PPV? 1+ million buys... LMMFAO..looks like mayweather knows how to make money just like he said..and you don't
c) mayweather fought oscar @ 154, pacquiao @ 147..how do you think pacquiao would have done against a 154lb oscar?
d) you understand that Mosley never tested positive for the sterioids, right? it was bank, phone etc records that reveal what happened..the steroids he took WERE actually undetectable.. easy to make a new variation too..google balco..clueless!
the good thing is that you've gone on the record saying that Pacquiao will give mayweather trouble... when pacuiao gets knocked out.. i'll be back here to make sure you eat your words... this is going to be really funny..
styles do make fights and marquez and mayweather have the same style and if a smaller, slower, less stylish, less adaptable version of the same style can beat pacquiao.. mayweather will have no problem at all timing pacquiao.. and mosely too.. cotto would just be a joke..
In other word, nobody is denying Floyd's skills, which are excellent. We just wana find out how good he is against the best and most dangerous guys out there.
Stork, I think the Floyd fans are misenterpeting the critizism of Floyd's choices of oponants. They think no matter who he chooses to fight there will be an excuse why he won.WRONG!We just want him to fight an oppanant where there is a question mark, if he will win or not. Were tired of sure things for Floyd. And there are plenty of question mark fights for him out there. As fight fans, we should all want to see him fight shane, P Williams,Pac,Margo, Cotto. Thats all. Why not?
abovebeneath-I have NO PROBLEM w/ Floyd whacking out Hatton. Hatton challenged him and had fought at 147 at least once before,it was a fair fight and I thought Hatton made Floyd answer at least the question of handling a capable relentless guy coming at him.
The "critical thinking" comes into play when Money turns down shitloads of it for Margarito and Oscar in a rematch but settles on the lineal 135lb champ after the lineal 140lb champ in successive fights.
killerpriest - They made the fight then Mayweather pulled the plug, Oscar fought Forbes found out Mayweather pulled the plug then was left w/Pacquiao last year after Margarito made Cotto kneel before him.
Hope you post a show before the Taylor Abraham fight Stork. It seems like a very interesting fight.Curious to see how Abraham will do against a really athletic guy.I like Abraham, but Taylor should look good early, as usual.
Did you see the Salgado vs Linares fight? It was crazy. I kinda feel bad for Linares, but hey, this is boxing. It's interesting to see whats ahead for Salgado.
yeah. i kinda wanna see a rematch, i think linares just got caught by the perfect punch that went through linares' guard. it was crazy indeed. man, the GBP Curse is really for real huh.
Before the PPV, i favor juanma to beat gamboa clearly. after the PPV, i see it as even match. Lopez gained a LOT of EXP in this fight. he showed that he has great chin and heart. Gamboa has been kd before while Lopez took 4 consecutive clean shots and still up and punching. Gamboa is faster but i think Lopez is carries a lil more power. I would favor lopez VERY little because of his experience and ability to handle adversity.
Silent650- Linares was carrying his left hand low from the outset and got smashed with the 1st good right hand Slagado leaped in with. I watched it 4 times to finally realize Linares was carrying his left hand at or below the level of his shoulder.
Islander, it is pretty clear you dont like FMJ. That is why I want to ask you, what do you like most, a brawler or a pure boxer? It seems to me that if you like boxing, you gotta love FMJ. All great champions had skiils, but in Mayweather you cand truly see why boxing is an art. But if you like the all action guys, "the best defense is ofense" guys, then I can understand your feelings for FMJ
superfreak- I don't like what he has become, a safety first money grubber. BUT in his defense most boxers who start getting the big money and the PPV headline cards do the same thing he does. Example Roy Jones went from destroying people to toying with them and it eventually caught up, and Floyd has absolutely nothing on the prime RJJ. Read 1 of my posts below how I appreciate FMJ's fights against Corrales, N'Dou, Gatti and Manfredy. I like all types of boxers not just all offense.
I didn't watch May-Mar until just now on YT, that's how bored I am and how uninterested I was in the fight.I won't watch a Mayweather fight until Pacquiao.
I think you are overstating the "small opponent" argument. How does somebody move through five weight classes and fight only smaller opponents?
The reality is that Floyd fought ONE smaller opponent: Marquez.
Ricky Hatton is roughly the same height as Floyd, Maybe an inch shorter. Ricky outweighs Floyd in the ring. Ricky has 43 fights at 140 and above, while Floyd has about 10 fights at 140 and above.
Remember that Mayweather fought most of his career at 130/135..
PLEASE stop yourself with the "Shane thought it was legal" line. I will gladly share with you the testimony. Nobody is flying to another city to take injections that they keep secret, that cost thousands of dollars, thinking it is legal.
Conte and Shane's trainer admit that they told Shane what he was taking.
C'mon, guys. The days of "fighting the best" are long gone. Shane isn't trying to fight FMJ because Floyd is the best. He wants that FMJ payday. Shane said he would fight three guys: Floyd, pac or Ricky. He did not want Williams, Clottey or Berto.
Manny just fought a drained Oscar and a worn-out Hatton.
actually...old top guys who are chasing paydays. while top young guys are chasing old top guys who has everything to lose and nothing to gain if the lose to young top guys.
Bernardo712 - CORRECTION - Shane has already fought Cotto and Margarito for a lot less money than Floyd would have gotten to take on either of them, that's the best fighting the best.
Shane also was trying to get Berto but I credit DiBella for not playing the GBP/HBO waiting for a TV date game.
In reality some of these guys are to blame themselves like Margarito b/c he COULD have made a fight with Baldomir before Floyd did, they were BOTH banking on a fight with Floyd. Stress the word BANKING
Bernardo712- Where did FMJ fight Gatti? Boardwalk Hall in ACNJ full of Gatti fans.
Shane is so NOT commercial that ODLH has come knocking on his door 3 times now, twice for beatings and once to buy his rival.
The biggest possible payday Floyd could ever get is with Oscar and he walked away from the 2nd fight, WHY? Not b/c he stood a chance of losing but b/c HE WAS NOT GOING TO EVER GET THE BIGGER SHARE OF THE MONEY W/ DLH. His FRAGILE ego couldn't handle it!
You are too old to be getting all emotional over this. Calmate, mijo.
Floyd fought Gatti in Boardwalk hall. True. Now, how many of gatti's fights were PPV? What brings in the lion's share of revenues: the gate...or PPV sales?
And why are you going back 5 years to gatti? That was FMJ's first PPV. RECENT history, please.
I'll be happy to listen to you explain why Shane has never been the "A" side of a PPV if he is a draw? Or why his Collazo fight failed. True story.
Bernardo712-you make me laugh, what made both of them get their 1st PPV? Each other.
I'm not going back 5 years to the now defunc FMJ-ODLH II am I. Face it your boy, pretty boy that is was not ever going to make more coin than Oscar and thats why HE pulled the plug on that fiasco.
Shane has never been a PPV draw because he unlike YOUR IDOL took risks against Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright 2 guys YOUR IDOL wouldn't talk about fighting let alone Cotto. And like you said hardcore boxing fans TBC
Bernardo712- LOOK AT YOUR CHANNEL COMMENTS! You not I have an obsession with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
All you keep doing is making EXCUSES why Mayweather doesn't have to fight Mosley and the rest of us are using critical thinking to prove that all of his reasons for not fighting Shane are BULL SHIT. Like YOU said Marquez couldn't sell squat w/Pacquiao and if Floyd is the draw which I'll go along with then a fight against anybody should sell a million plus according to this logic.
Bernardo712- I really do owe you a big apology b/c I never intended to question your boxing knowledge. I know you know your stuff.
I also know from your comments what your agenda is, same for other groups of people I have had trouble with in the recent past. Celebrity worshipping may be a bit much in your case but it's not even close to a stretch for others on YouTube.
1. If you feel I attacked you or offended you - I'm sorry.
2. Gatti according to Floyd was a "C" class fighter all the way up until Floyd did what he was supposed to do to him, then he draped himself in Gatti's "paper belt" cried like a little bitch baby, for what? Beating a "c" class boxer, and now the tune for him and all his fans changed, Gatti was a instantly a top 10 P4P boxer when Floyd took him out.
Tell me when I ever said Gatti could sell anything but a live gate.
CONT are the ones who buy Pac-Marquez and Cotto-Mosley.Floyd's PPV numbers stem from "CELEBRITY WORSHIPPERS" like yourself (read your channel comments) who think buying PPV for Floyd or Oscar is the cool or vogue thing to do, most of them don't know SHIT about boxing but yeah they can say they bought and saw "Money" or Tyson or whichever celebrity they may be worshipping this week.
Mosley is too nice a guy to be acting the "Fool" like Oscar and Floyd b/c the hardcore fans know he's the goods.
Benrnardo712- very few people have a defense for Hopkins and this little scheme he has been able to get away with. Add to the list Lupe Aquino(WW) Simon Brown(WW) JD Jackson(JM) And BHop started his career at 175 to boot.
This is all part of the GoldenBoy HBO fiasco and I'm glad its all coming to the public's knowledge ever so slowly.
Everybody- If you have a chance go to my favorites section on my channel page and select the latest one Leonardo Cruz-Sergio Palma.
What I want you to listen to is the tiny discussion at about 2:15 into the video where Gil Clancy describes "HOW FIGHTS SHOULD BE MADE" I think most open minded people will agree with his synopsis. Those protecting a certain fighter will of course disagree.
Bernardo712 - Agreed on all counts. Only thing I'll add is that you and I may agree that back in 2002 FMJ wasn't exactly a commercial draw although I thought like Bob Arum did that he was extremely marketable. In Floyd's twisted little mind you better believe he thought he was a cash cow even back then.
i'd rather see floyd fight people his size than pac fight mayweather. pac is too small i think and when mayweather beats him..he will get all the glory. the mayweather fans will light up candles in front of their floyd mayweather posters and pray their rosary. I hope mayweather steps it up and fight mosley, berto, clottey, cotto, williams, etc. Let him clean his division and let Pac clean the jr welter division. Let marquez clean the lightweight division.
Hmmm. it's hard to say. i really don't know where williams should be at. i really think he should be in jr middleweight its his reach that makes him crazy. i'd say it will be harder for floyd to beat williams than pac to beat floyd. i see what point your trying to make. the difference in williams and pac is that williams can and has fought at 147...pac hasn't fought at 147.
Bernardo & AZ - great points both ways. I will make 1 point about the size. Thomas Hearns was almost as freakish at 147 and nobody complained about it. I would have less of a problem w/Williams @ 147 if the fighters were made to weigh in the day of the fight like many years ago. Being 165lbs when he took on Margarito allowed Williams to stay on his feet in the 11th round and the whole 1st fight w/Quintana.
If all boxers were made to make weight the day of the fight there would be no complaints.
yeah, pac fought oscar at 147 but it proves that he's too small for the weight when he came in 142lbs in the weigh-in. the difference between pac and williams is that the small guy is moving up. and the big guy who can make the 147 weight is moving down. you see the difference there? floyd gets his glory from his fans by fighting smaller guys...pac is getting his glory from his fans from fighting bigger guys.
i never doubt floyd's overall skill. he's great in the category. i see him defeating all of them but i don't want them to see him fight and beat them not just through my imagination. before, i imagined christian mijares to throw around vic darchinyan. like a little kid playing a white rat. when vic and mijares actually fought. i was shocked what happened.
The "bigger guys" argument for Pac is very misleading. Very. If you go and check - and I encourage you to do that - what Pac weighed on fight night vs JMM 2: 144 pounds.
What Floyd weighed on fight night vs Judah: 146 pounds.
So, Pac and floyd were essentially the same size, but Floyd was fighting at WW, and Pac was fighting at SFW.
If you're unable to verify, I will gladly e-mail you the links.
no need for verification. excellent point there and you're right mayweather doesn't blow up during the fight night while pac does when he was at SFW. The difference though is that When pac came to fight against oscar, he was 142 at the weigh in. he was 138 against hatton. this shows that manny can easily make weigh around 140, maybe 135. floyd couldn't even make 144lbs in his last fight. this shows that floyd has grown into a full WW while manny is JWW or maybe less.
also, mayweather refused to re-weigh himself on fight night. that show that mayweather didn't just hydrated 10lbs, he probably hydrated at least 15lbs. some thinks that he was 20lbs heavier than marquez at the fight. "He was probably 20 pounds heavier than [Marquez]", says mosley. when marquez and pacquiao fought at WW, they both hydrated at about 147-149. this shows that when pac and mayweather fights, the size difference will be similar as the mayweather-marquez fight.
U are absolutely right. I dont want to see mayweather fight pac, pac too small. I wouldnt mind mayweather fighting for once a bigger and great fighter. this is only a dream but only if Hopkins was still at middleweight he and mayweather could meet at a catchweight like the way de la hoya and hopkins did. Dream match match mayweather vs bhop at 157lbs now lets see or how much money mayweather is
what was diego corrales and all the other fighters floyd fought moving up in weight,he has fought bigger guys his whole career,he fights 1 guy smaller now he only fights small opponents be fuckin for real
6027boss- Wow you are really nearsighted. 1 smaller guy? How's about back to back now with Hatton then Marquez. Like somebody else said next stop is Israel Vazquez b/c their is no linear champion at 130 or 126 so Izzy's next and remember what Floyd told Brian Kinney, "The man has a whole country behind him." Never mind he's lost 4 or 5 times like Mosley.
Yeah U r right FMJ has fought kostya tszyu, Paul Williams, Margarito, Winky Wright, Vernon Forrest everybody that is bigger and WITH TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!! WITH TALENT u can fight bigger guys, but they can also be nobodies did u forget about Carlos Balomir an all time great right? fighting Judah after a loss cmon
And fucking for Real this is going to upset u but their is rumor going around that mayweather vs jor calzaghe at a catchweight now that fucking for real lol lol!!
Mayweather vs Mosley will not outsell his last PPV. Now Mayweather vs Pacquiao would, When you say "We" are all sick of his promotion..who are you taking about? fans in general or just the haters?
conde357- "We" means 1.those of us who are not Mayweather worshippers. 2.those of us who don't profit from his shenanigans like HBO/GoldenBoy 3. those of us who are hardcore boxing fans and actually remember FMJ calling the 1st HBO contract renewal they offered him a "slave contract" 4.those of us who wish he would fight Cotto,Williams, Mosley, Pacquiao, and even Berto. 5.those of us who are smart enough to know he will not fight anybody he doesn't get a 65-35 split with ie. ODLH II. Happy now ?
conde357 - you fit definition number 1 based on all of your ranting and raving about me hating Mayweather when I really don't. All I do is disprove all the bullshit that comes out of all the Mayweather's mouths, that same bullshit you so aptly call "promotion."
I never said you were or were not anything, stop running from the truth.
conde357-You have a right to your opinion but I vehemently disagree. You say what you say JUST SO MAYWEATHER CAN GET OFF THE HOOK FOR AVOIDING MOSLEY! Everybody can see right through your/his scheme.Mosley doesn't have a huge following, but in boxing circles everybody truly believes he has a bonafide chance of winning and like ONE OF YOU said people will flock to the PPV if they think FMJ might lose, remember somebody saying that on these viseo comments?Let me guess back to 300K sales for Mosley?
JMM was simply a tune up. I also would love to see Mosley vs Mayweather but after Pacquiao/Cotto winner. As I said before Mosley will not bring big PPV #'s.
conde357- Mosley will do just as well as Marquez, if he wouldn't then Oscar never would have given him a rematch which teetered on or above a million buys when everybody thought Shane was washed up and Oscar was going to roll him.
I love how you keep toting this FMJ line that Mosley has to wait until after the Pacquiao-Cotto winner, maybe when he's past his 40th birthday and has another loss or two then maybe it will be time to make the fight, right?
conde357- This is all in good fun but I have to ask, why did you just blow right past the "handpicking" of a featherweight with 4 losses as opposed to the champion of the division with 5 (excusable losses)? I'm just amused at all the FMJ Worshippers who won't touch that subject as if it were the Ebola virus.
dieallday- I agree that all the hardcore fans would buy Mayweather-Mosley.
I think Shane is too nice a guy and Floyd who's fairly nice after his fights knows this, so unless Shane absolutely insults him like Hatton did, I doubt he'll really get his attention. The whole thing with Hopkins was borderline ridiculous especially coming from a guy who is near impossible to work with.
just becvause floyds first couple of ppvs did not have stellar numbers automatically makes him a non ppv star,do you know the numbers to pacquaio vs. david diaz,i think it was barely 200,000 if that, but we all know manny is a big ppv attraction
I enjoy your show and look forward to your videos every week, but your hate for am"certain" fighter is very obvious. Why bring up PPV #'s from before? look at how Floyd did when he fought DLH, Hatton, and JMM...
What I take issue with is not any particular boxer, it's their blind, deaf, and dumb worshippers. Not their fans, their worshippers you can not reason with them. This is why I bring up Gatti, Judah, nad Baldomir's PPV numbers to PROVE the guy is NOT the CASH COW he claims to be. Those are facts whether you like them or not or you like me or not I can't control the shit that flows from Mayweather's mouth or change the PPV sales for those fights.
Come on bro! that is called promotion....like I said..you buy right into what he says. I wouldn't call myself a worshipper but I admire the man's skills in the ring. I didn't start watching Floyd last year, I've been a fan since a long time ago.
conde357- I have never been more satisfied with Floyd Mayweather Jr. than on 4 occasions: 1. vs. Angel Manfredy - there was danger and he swept it out of the way. 2. Diego Corralles-FMJ didn't have to take the fight but did and did away with ol Diego 3.Philip N'Dou another dangerous puncher and FMJ met the challenge head on my personal favorite. 4. Arturo Gatti -HBO made us believe it would be competitive and I enjoyed it thoroughly even though it wasn't and I liked Gatti. CONT>
conde357 - CONT. we are all sick of the "promotion" how can somebody talk about being the best, fight a guy 2 full weight classes below him and turn down the real champion of his division b/c he has 5 losses when the feather weight he just fought had 4 or 5 losses?
Everybody please give your opinion: Would FMJ-Mosley sell more PPV than FMJ-Marquez? I would bet it would yet Floyd lets you believe it wouldn't therefore not taking the fight.
You are going to have to break yourself out of that Gatti/Judah/Baldo paradigm. Those fights sold well. Average 350K+. That is what the Morales-Barrera trilogy sold. When Pac fights a no-name, he does 200k. Shane can't get a PPV at all.
You don't want Floyd to call himself a "cash cow", and that's fine. ....But name the active fighters who will sell more than him?
Gatti/Judah/Baldo were pre-DLH, Pre-"Dancing", pre-WWE, pre-AT&T, pre-MTV Cribs, etc. It's a different era now.
Also you are comparing apples w/ oranges when you bring Featherweights into the picture and non English speaking ones at that. Remember PPV numbers until recently were based on US sales so how can two 126-130lb non English speaking Mexicans draw from the same boxing pool that Mayweather caters to? They can't and thats why the numbers are the numbers.
Hell, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. sells over 200K per PPV vs. tomato cans to put it in perspective.
But aren't you guilty of the same thing? You are comparing Mayweather's first 2-3 PPV events to fighters who were much more established. In any event, all that "cash cow" talk didn't materialize until the DLH era. If you remember the Goossen promotion for Pretty Risky and the Judah "Sworn Enemies" bout, Floyd had not yet adopted the "Money" persona. That came later.
Your statements are anachronistic.
B-info: do you feel that TODAY, PBF is a big commercial draw?
6027boss - you are right, I'm not crazy like most of you who buy into this "greatest to ever lace up the gloves" bull shit they keep force feeding you.
He wouldn't last 10 rounds with Sugar Ray Robinson and I have my doubts about 15 rounds with Sugar Ray Leonard.
But FMJ is the absolute BEST @ beating up on the linear champions at 140, 135, whats next Israel Vazquez the next one down the line? You want his credit there you have it little buddy. Meanwhile Cotto fights the fights FMJ won't FACT.
Bernardo712- In the context that you, 6027boss, and I are speaking with all the facts we both brought to the table - YES FMJ is a BIG commercial draw and the biggest in the sport right now.
My problem is with FMJ's own crazy image of himself. Example being: if he hypothetically took on Delvin Rodriguez, my first guess is it might not be on PPV, second if it were I'm not sure it would break 400-500K buys. I could be wrong but I doubt it. Is this enough buys to fund his 8 figure salary? Maybe
If you think that Evander Holyfield will sell more than FMJ, then we have huge fundamental differences in the way we see the sport and these fighters' respective economic viability.
Best of luck with that one.
Holyfield-Klitschko in Spring 2010 would not do a million buys.
Bernardo712- I do not think that Evander Holyfield will outsell FMJ at this current juncture. But, his past numbers sure as hell speak for themselves don't they? And yes we are not comparing apples to apples b/c Holyfield is a heavyweight but you asked me for a current boxer, and as far as last December Holyfield was boxing. I was just being a smart ass the answer was not a serious one.
all i can say, it just shows that there are a lot of mayweather suckers who continue to support that mayweather and the gbp is doing. they put bad fights and suckers will still pay. this is what scares casual boxing fans from watching boxing fights.
if floyd and manny fight and you say the one who comes forward will lose then in my opinion i think manny will be the one coming forward but i think he will beat floyd because of his speed and accuracy, floyd wont know were the punches are coming from and i think manny could stop him
twelvequay- What I'm saying is, there is no single way one fighter is going to beat the other unless Manny pressures from the outset and gets picked apart coming in. What I'm saying about being passive is Pacquiao whether he can do it or not has to fight like Judah did and get a lead, he has to force FMJ to open up and take chances, if neither guy does this then the fight will look like Oscar vs. Whitaker. If the fight follows the Judah fight for the 1st 5 rounds it will be Manny's best chance.
hey islander dont you think though that floyds shell defense is much more effective against smaller guys with a small reach? pacquiao is 5'7 with a 67 reach, wouldn't you think that would come into play? when juday landed shots on floyd he didn't lunge at all and you know damn well that pacquiao will lunge recklessly trying to land that left because of his short reach. he has to lunge and punch constantly and i think that will be the difference along with his undoing. what do you think?
shacasulu- I think Roach has gotten that "lunging" out of Pac's repertoire. Example, he didn't jump or lunge once vs. DelaHoya who sported a big reach and bigger height advantage.
You are right about the shell defense to this point, it's not as effective against lefties and it's less effective when he has to come forward.
I see the only clear way Pac has in order to win is fight like Judah until Mayweather HAS to walk him down b/c we all know Pac has a helluv a lot more than Judah does.
i disagree i think pacquiao still lunges recklessly sometimes. hell he did it against hatton in the second round. i just think the reach is to small and while his shell defense is less effective against a southpaw, the less effectiveness will level out because of pacquiao's small reach. plus i really think mayweather will not walk him down and i know if manny cant land flush shots on him he will grow frustrated. once that happens manny will create mistakes.
if pacquiao is fighting mayweather, i don't think he will fight like he always do. of course there will be a gameplan to fight cotto and there will be a gameplan for mayweather.
B-info, But if you notice, when Floyd comes forward now - especially against southpaws, he has shifted away from the Philly Shell into more of a High Guard. i encourage you to watch the first few rounds of Mitchell and Judah. notice how he squares up more with the big Grant gloves up.
Bernardo712- I agree he does change his defense. I also notice he gets hit a tiny bit more as well. Not much to be alarmed about against the likes of Corley,Mitchell and Judah, I wonder about Pacquiao.
The other problem people have not acknowledged is that Pacquiao is not likely to get the job done w/1 shot its going to be an accumulation which unless he follows a certain script will not materialize, and even so it still may not materialize.
i think you're still thinking about the pacquiao when he fought morales. the guy who just keeps on throwing without even looking, trying to land the left.
Bernardo712- Yawn, who cares? The numbers don't lie, he and Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir (where people were walking out on the fight in the 10th and 11th rounds) couldn't break 400K buys.
You ask a question. i reply. And then you come back with a childishly disrespectful 'yawn". If you only want sycophantic children to watch your videos, i can comply.
You need to go look at all of the other fighters who never broke 400K. Guys like Pac, marquez, Barrera, Morales, etc.
Mayweather is a strong commercial entity. Period. I guess there's a reason that Greenburg and tTffet have their jobs....and you have yours.
Bernardo712-You are correct,Floyd is very marketable, to a point. Which is why I keep bringing up Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir. Unless you'll admit it there is no reason to keep this up and that is that FMJ AIN'T NO ODLH when it comes to PPV plain and simple.
I ask you about PPV sales and you come back with "these people's biggest paydays" What does that have to do with the PPV they sold? Nothing, its like saying Larry Holmes got his biggest payday off Gerry Cooney, I guess that was b/c of Holmes?
and honestly i feel he also sells a lot of ppvs because a lot of people want to see him lose,so i feel the people wanting to see him lose have about as much affect on ppv sells as much as his own fans
That's an unfair comparison....of course he is not ODLH....he had women tuning in to see his pretty face. We understand your hate for Floyd but give the man some credit.
conde357- I do not hate Floyd, I hate the card Floyd plays, like the way he plays you!
FMJ calls himself "The cash cow" and you accuse me of an unfair comparison to Oscar. WTF is wrong with this picture? Maybe the problem is I'm not worshipping somebody to your liking? Yeah that's the ticket alright.
No that's not the problem. I bought the fight because I wanted to see Boxing...nobody tricked me into thinking anything. I knew exactly what I was buying...a tune up fight for Floyd. Maybe you are buying into Floyd's bad image a little bit too much.
conde357- I am not making anything of Floyd's image, it's his and his alone.
You bought the fight because you knew ahead of time it was going to be a dreary unanimous decision?
I did not buy it because I knew or better yet used my experience to deduct the outcome before it ever happened. The same could be said of the Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir fights and to some extent DelaHoya although there were some intriguing intangibles like the weight and 10oz gloves.
Bernardo712- The numbers themselves are NOT atrocious, you and I can agree 100% on that.
When somebody calls themself the "Cash Cow" and produces numbers like that, then yes in that context they are horrendous. So much so that HBO told Floyd he wouldn't be on PPV unless it was against another top flight name such as Oscar, Hatton, and now Marquez.
So a fight between FMJ and Michael Katsidis would not be on HBO PPV I promise to whoever used this example earlier.
Bernardo712- I have a question which I do not know the answer to, Who do you think Jose Luis Castillo got his biggest payday from, Mayweather or Hatton? I suspect the latter.
danlfc1983- I believe it was $54.95 or $59.95 US. Not sure I did not and would not pay for it. I thought about going to see it Closed Circuit at 1 of the movie theaters but still couldn't so I watched over the internet on the international feed which was better than the replay I saw last Saturday.
@6027boss-agree, a fighter will get the credit when they deserve it. after marquez fought pac, i didn't rank him in the top p4p because his resume only have pacquiao. then when he added barrera, casamayor, diaz, he got the credit he deserves. i don't like darchinyan but i rank him in the p4p before his loss because of his accomplishments. as for floyd, the only true welters he fought is baldomir & small judah who really is a jr welter, the rest are below his weight like mitchell, marquez, hatton
i dont feel people should let their heart manipulate what comes out their mouth, out of the respect and love for boxing,i always call it how i see it and always gonna tell the truth, floyd is my favorite fighter, but if doesnt go after manny, coot, berto, or mosley, then im gonna say he is a coward and a ducker, because he says hes back to fight the best so we will see what he does next, but we all know all 4 will get that ass tapped and thats the truth
6027boss - I agree but I wouldn't call him a coward, he's more an OPPORTUNIST, just like the way he just stole your money a week and a half ago (well he stole at least a million household's money anyway not mine thank God) But nothing in the recent past tells me he's going to tap any ass that ain't some skanky Vegas ho. He probably will beat all 4, squeak by a couple like he did Oscar, but that's just reality not favoring 1 guy over another Floyd is the most talented.
superfreak - you don't want to get into this with me. I'm the 1% that can actually pick out countries and states on a blank map I'm not Geography or History deficient.
Diaconu is a Candian based Romanian like Jean Pascal is a Candian based Hatian end of story.
As for Paul Williams.... Mayweather isn't ducking Paul Williams - just about every TOP Welteweight is ducking Paul Williams because he presents unqiue challenges for everyone, not just Mayweather.
In my eyes, Paul Williams views the Welterweight division as easy pickings against smaller opponents with marquee names because Paul holds a variety of physical advantages that makes it easy for him to win.
His tall, lanky-ass needs to stay above 160. Period.
i don;t know man. this is a fight where williams is not going to be very big against his opponent. his reach is still longer but not much compare to his previous opponents. i think it really depends to which pavlik will show up...the pavlik before the hopkins fight or after.
Follow suit? I've been an avid watcher of Floyd Mayweather Jr since '97 in his match against Jesus Chavez, the first fight I ever watched was between Roger Mayweather vs Kostya Tszyu back in '95.
So for those who jumped the Mayweather band wagon should heed your words, however in my case - regardless of who he's fighting, my loyalty remains.
BUT...I DO recognize the criticisms and faults he presents. I DO agree his next fight should ( and better be ) Shane Mosley - or Andre Berto.
yeah, this is the reason why this crappy or mismatch fights are still being given to the boxing fans. mayweather learned this from ODLH. they give crappy fights, hype it, then people will bite and buy the PPV. imagine if mayweather-marquez fight did badly? it will push mayweather to fight someone his own size. but now, he can see that there will be suckers that will still buy the ppv even if the fight is a mismatch.
Islander like i said b4 i have biggest amount of respect for this show. But explain 2 me why you said this PPV wont do well when it has done over 1million? you seem to have gone quiet on the subject?
L33BAP-Thank you & to answer your question, I said the PPV would not do well because I can not believe the number of gullible people who keep paying to see Floyd's fights against people who have no chance of beating him like Baldomir (don't know the #'s but they must be amusingly smal

I still can't believe that the Mayweather vs Marquez fight did a million buys. There is a big possibility that that number is inflated (or maybe over inflated).
saiyan4321 2 years ago
Your logic is twisted! 1st you make the case for fighter A who defeats fighter B; and A wins then it does not lead automatically for fighter A defeating C. Simply put styles make fights. Then you contradict yourself??? Pacman is a nice likable guy ,but most of you guys allow your emotionalism to affect your judgment. Boxing always depends on who shows up that night! All emotions aside Pac is tailor made for a PBF. I honestly dont think many of you will be able to watch that fight to conclusion

We need a video on the Super Six from you brotha!!
Also whom do you think if Floyd fought and won against would you then give him respect and put him up their with the greatest of all time. Mine are Margarito(when he comes back), Cotto, Pac and Mosely...that will answer a lot of questions and scepticism in my view.
killerpriest777 2 years ago
killerpriest- Being compared with Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Ali, Armstrong, Duran etc. requires more than just a few PPV extravaganzas, look at the number of fights just Ali and Louis or Chavez. I'm not expecting FMJ to have 100 fights but 50-60 would be a threshold that even the most skeptical person would have to acknowledge.
And on the Super 6 - Did I not tell all of you Jermain Taylor DID NOT belong in with these hungry killers?
boxinginfo 2 years ago
True, you did, but I already knew that Taylor wasn't going to beat the hard hitting Abraham. If Mayweather fought and beat the guys I mentioned would you then give him respect?
killerpriest777 2 years ago
killerpriest777- all I will say is this- I respect Mayweather the same exact way RA the Rugged Man does.

2. Whom do you think if floyd fought, and won, would you finally give him respect? My list is, Pac, Mosely, Cotto, Margarito(after a couple of convincing wins when he comes back) and then I would rank him in the top 20 all time as far as pure skill and talent and wins. -What do you think?

@ BoxingInfo...
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
LOL
a) if this fight makes $ PPV? 1+ million buys... LMMFAO..looks like mayweather knows how to make money just like he said..and you don't
c) mayweather fought oscar @ 154, pacquiao @ 147..how do you think pacquiao would have done against a 154lb oscar?
d) you understand that Mosley never tested positive for the sterioids, right? it was bank, phone etc records that reveal what happened..the steroids he took WERE actually undetectable.. easy to make a new variation too..google balco..clueless!
doctorSpoc 2 years ago
the good thing is that you've gone on the record saying that Pacquiao will give mayweather trouble... when pacuiao gets knocked out.. i'll be back here to make sure you eat your words... this is going to be really funny..
styles do make fights and marquez and mayweather have the same style and if a smaller, slower, less stylish, less adaptable version of the same style can beat pacquiao.. mayweather will have no problem at all timing pacquiao.. and mosely too.. cotto would just be a joke..

In other word, nobody is denying Floyd's skills, which are excellent. We just wana find out how good he is against the best and most dangerous guys out there.
abovebeneath 2 years ago
Stork, I think the Floyd fans are misenterpeting the critizism of Floyd's choices of oponants. They think no matter who he chooses to fight there will be an excuse why he won.WRONG!We just want him to fight an oppanant where there is a question mark, if he will win or not. Were tired of sure things for Floyd. And there are plenty of question mark fights for him out there. As fight fans, we should all want to see him fight shane, P Williams,Pac,Margo, Cotto. Thats all. Why not?
abovebeneath 2 years ago
abovebeneath-I have NO PROBLEM w/ Floyd whacking out Hatton.
But wait hold on it was a tune up.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
Wait Mayweather turned down a rematch with Oscar?
killerpriest777 2 years ago
killerpriest - They made the fight then Mayweather pulled the plug, Oscar fought Forbes found out Mayweather pulled the plug then was left w/Pacquiao last year after Margarito made Cotto kneel before him.

yeah. i kinda wanna see a rematch, i think linares just got caught by the perfect punch that went through linares' guard. it was crazy indeed. man, the GBP Curse is really for real huh.
aznvedz 2 years ago
What's your opinion of the Juanma fight. I don't know if he should fight Gamboa.
Silent650 2 years ago
Before the PPV, i favor juanma to beat gamboa clearly. after the PPV, i see it as even match. Lopez gained a LOT of EXP in this fight. he showed that he has great chin and heart. Gamboa has been kd before while Lopez took 4 consecutive clean shots and still up and punching. Gamboa is faster but i think Lopez is carries a lil more power. I would favor lopez VERY little because of his experience and ability to handle adversity.
aznvedz 2 years ago
Silent650- Linares was carrying his left hand low from the outset and got smashed with the 1st good right hand Slagado leaped in with. I watched it 4 times to finally realize Linares was carrying his left hand at or below the level of his shoulder.

Islander, it is pretty clear you dont like FMJ. That is why I want to ask you, what do you like most, a brawler or a pure boxer? It seems to me that if you like boxing, you gotta love FMJ. All great champions had skiils, but in Mayweather you cand truly see why boxing is an art. But if you like the all action guys, "the best defense is ofense" guys, then I can understand your feelings for FMJ
superfreackboy 2 years ago
superfreak- I don't like what he has become, a safety first money grubber. I like all types of boxers not just all offense.

dieallday 2 years ago
@ Die,
Hardcore fans buy fights for matchups. Casual fans and the mainstream public buy fights based on name recognition, ethnic alignment, or marketing.
You are posting on a YouTube boxing video blog. Thus, you are a hardcore fan.
...but a "fight fan's fight" rarely exceeds 400K buys. That is the magnitude of the hardcore base.
No need to refer to people as "idiots". That doesn't advance the discussion. Not productive.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
i went a little to far, but still it makes feel some what bitter because
after watching 2 of his fights (hatton and Delahoya)
this guys is not fighting the opposition that he should be fighting.
he is fighting small guys and making a killing out of it,
i feel that he should fighters who will present a element of danger for him
all i am saying he can face real legitimate opposition and still make a lot of money
dieallday 2 years ago
Die,
I think you are overstating the "small opponent" argument.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
excluding Oscar and Chico, most of the floyd mayweather's oppenets have been 5,7 or bellow
and mayweather is like 5,8 1/2
so most of his opposition have been smaller than him.
what i am saying is this i want him to fight someone who can really make him work
the last time i saw mayweather work was Castilo fight
and that was long time ago
Listen I personally love Floyd skills i believe he is the best pugilist in the world
but i want him to face great fighters. Am i as a fan asking to much?
dieallday 2 years ago
Die,
Boxing has weight classes. Not height classes. In boxing "smaller" is about weight.
Do you consider Paul Williams to be "bigger" than David Tua?
It just isn't possible to move through five weight divisions and to be fighting smaller men the whole time. That makes no sense. All due respect.
Hate Mayweather all you want...but hate him for the right reasons.
I don't like Shane bc he is a steroid user...That's all.
Do you want PBF to fight Pac, if Pac beats Cotto?
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
steroid or not i want to see him fight shane or cotto
i feel that they can give him a lot of trouble
listen
call me hater all you want
all i want is a competitive fight
and i dont wanna see no blown up feather weight(marquez) go up to 147 and fight a bigger guy
Manny is next in line to get a shot who is a blown up flyweight
i want floyd fight a legit welter shane or cotto
or berto
Shane took balco thinking that it was legal, then it was discovered that it had illegal substance in it
dieallday 2 years ago
Die,
PLEASE stop yourself with the "Shane thought it was legal" line. I will gladly share with you the testimony. Nobody is flying to another city to take injections that they keep secret, that cost thousands of dollars, thinking it is legal.
Conte and Shane's trainer admit that they told Shane what he was taking.
Shane has told so many documented lies.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
then why is he not in jail
from my understanding he testified under a grand jury
and if you lie
u go to jail for a long time
or am i wrong
dieallday 2 years ago
Die,
Help me with something here...OK?
Juan Manuel Marquez is a blown-up featherweight. Right?
Manny Pacquiao is a blown-up flyweight. Right?
But Floyd is a legitimate welterweight.
You apply your logic so inconsistently.
Using YOUR criteria, shouldn't FMJ be a "blown-up SFW"?
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
no he is blow up 130
but god gave him more gifts than marquez or manny put together
floyd is paradigm of perfect fighter
but he does not fight the best who are available
and he likes to call himself the best
which
is ridiculous
to be considered the best you have to fight the best fighters that are available
which he is clearly doing
dieallday 2 years ago
C'mon, guys. The days of "fighting the best" are long gone. Shane isn't trying to fight FMJ because Floyd is the best. He wants that FMJ payday. Shane said he would fight three guys: Floyd, pac or Ricky. He did not want Williams, Clottey or Berto.
Manny just fought a drained Oscar and a worn-out Hatton.
Hopkinns is fighting Ornelas, then Roy.
The top guys are ALL chasing paydays.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
actually...old top guys who are chasing paydays. while top young guys are chasing old top guys who has everything to lose and nothing to gain if the lose to young top guys.
aznvedz 2 years ago
AZ... yes, you are right.
Because the Bertos and Williamses were trying to get fights with Shane (for example), but SM didn't want to see those cats.
Well, nobody at 147 wants to see Williams. He is a nightmare.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
i believe clottey called out williams. i don't know what hapened though.
aznvedz 2 years ago
Bernardo712 - CORRECTION - Shane has already fought Cotto and Margarito for a lot less money than Floyd would have gotten to take on either of them, that's the best fighting the best.
Shane also was trying to get Berto but I credit DiBella for not playing the GBP/HBO waiting for a TV date game.
In reality some of these guys are to blame themselves like Margarito b/c he COULD have made a fight with Baldomir before Floyd did, they were BOTH banking on a fight with Floyd. Stress the word BANKING
boxinginfo 2 years ago
@ Boxinginfo: Shane fought those guys bc they were the biggest available draws at the time.
Where did Shane fight Cotto? IN MSG with a house full of Cotto fans.
Where did Shane fight Margarito? In CA with a house full of margarito fans/Mexicans.
True Story.
Shane Mosley simply is not a commercially viable fighter. Thus he HAS to pursue bigger name fighters. FM isn't in that position.
I'm not defending FM's choices, but when you have leverage, use it. Otherwise, why build leverage?
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
TRUE F'N STORY!
boxinginfo 2 years ago
BoxingInfo,
You are too old to be getting all emotional over this.
True story.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712-you make me laugh, what made both of them get their 1st PPV? Each other.
I'm not going back 5 years to the now defunc FMJ-ODLH II am I. Face it your boy, pretty boy that is was not ever going to make more coin than Oscar and thats why HE pulled the plug on that fiasco.
Shane has never been a PPV draw because he unlike YOUR IDOL took risks against Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright 2 guys YOUR IDOL wouldn't talk about fighting let alone Cotto. And like you said hardcore boxing fans TBC
boxinginfo 2 years ago
@ Boxinginfo:
Floyd should NOT have made a bigger split than Oscar because he was NOT a bigger draw.
The discussion is not Floyd/Oscar. It's FMJ/Pac or FMJ/Shane.
It's unfortunate that you elect to turn a boxing discussion into personal attacks. That disappoints me.
If you think that I don't know about boxing, you are waaay off, my friend.
You have to let go of your jealousy for Floyd and other athletes. They earned their spot. They don't constrain you from doing better. Cheers
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712- LOOK AT YOUR CHANNEL COMMENTS! You not I have an obsession with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
All you keep doing is making EXCUSES why Mayweather doesn't have to fight Mosley and the rest of us are using critical thinking to prove that all of his reasons for not fighting Shane are BULL SHIT. Like YOU said Marquez couldn't sell squat w/Pacquiao and if Floyd is the draw which I'll go along with then a fight against anybody should sell a million plus according to this logic.
You're boxed in

Bernardo712-
Tell me when I ever said Gatti could sell anything but a live gate.
boxinginfo 2 years ago

I would think that Castillo got the bigger payday vs Hatton.
FMJ fought JLC in 2002 (?), and Hatton fought JLC in 2007.
I think you would agree that five years is a very long time in a boxing career.
Back in 2002, FMJ was in no way a commercial draw.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712 - Agreed on all counts. Only thing I'll add is that you and I may agree that back in 2002 FMJ wasn't exactly a commercial draw although I thought like Bob Arum did that he was extremely marketable. In Floyd's twisted little mind you better believe he thought he was a cash cow even back then.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
i'd rather see floyd fight people his size than pac fight mayweather. pac is too small i think and when mayweather beats him..he will get all the glory. the mayweather fans will light up candles in front of their floyd mayweather posters and pray their rosary. I hope mayweather steps it up and fight mosley, berto, clottey, cotto, williams, etc. Let him clean his division and let Pac clean the jr welter division. Let marquez clean the lightweight division.

Choice b) Size difference between FMJ and Williams

Hmmm. it's hard to say. i really don't know where williams should be at. i really think he should be in jr middleweight its his reach that makes him crazy. i'd say it will be harder for floyd to beat williams than pac to beat floyd. i see what point your trying to make. the difference in williams and pac is that williams can and has fought at 147...pac hasn't fought at 147.
aznvedz 2 years ago
Well, this is Pac's 2nd WW fight, actually. The DLH fight, and this 145 catchweight.
It just doesn't make sense when people say that Floyd is too big to fight Pac, but FMJ should fight Williams.
Size delta is size delta.
If Pac could fight Oscar, then he could fight Floyd. Well, you say that Oscar was old, or slow, or yadda yadda.
Then it isn't Floyd's size that is problematic. It's Floyd's skill.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo & AZ - great points both ways. I will make 1 point about the size. Thomas Hearns was almost as freakish at 147 and nobody complained about it. I would have less of a problem w/Williams @ 147 if the fighters were made to weigh in the day of the fight like many years ago. Being 165lbs when he took on Margarito allowed Williams to stay on his feet in the 11th round and the whole 1st fight w/Quintana.
If all boxers were made to make weight the day of the fight there would be no complaints.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
yeah, pac fought oscar at 147 but it proves that he's too small for the weight when he came in 142lbs in the weigh-in. the difference between pac and williams is that the small guy is moving up. and the big guy who can make the 147 weight is moving down. you see the difference there? floyd gets his glory from his fans by fighting smaller guys...pac is getting his glory from his fans from fighting bigger guys.
aznvedz 2 years ago
i never doubt floyd's overall skill. he's great in the category. i see him defeating all of them but i don't want them to see him fight and beat them not just through my imagination. before, i imagined christian mijares to throw around vic darchinyan. like a little kid playing a white rat. when vic and mijares actually fought. i was shocked what happened.
aznvedz 2 years ago
The "bigger guys" argument for Pac is very misleading. Very. If you go and check - and I encourage you to do that - what Pac weighed on fight night vs JMM 2: 144 pounds.
What Floyd weighed on fight night vs Judah: 146 pounds.
So, Pac and floyd were essentially the same size, but Floyd was fighting at WW, and Pac was fighting at SFW.
If you're unable to verify, I will gladly e-mail you the links.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
no need for verification. excellent point there and you're right mayweather doesn't blow up during the fight night while pac does when he was at SFW. The difference though is that When pac came to fight against oscar, he was 142 at the weigh in. he was 138 against hatton. this shows that manny can easily make weigh around 140, maybe 135. floyd couldn't even make 144lbs in his last fight. this shows that floyd has grown into a full WW while manny is JWW or maybe less.
aznvedz 2 years ago
also, mayweather refused to re-weigh himself on fight night. that show that mayweather didn't just hydrated 10lbs, he probably hydrated at least 15lbs. some thinks that he was 20lbs heavier than marquez at the fight. "He was probably 20 pounds heavier than [Marquez]", says mosley. when marquez and pacquiao fought at WW, they both hydrated at about 147-149. this shows that when pac and mayweather fights, the size difference will be similar as the mayweather-marquez fight.
aznvedz 2 years ago
U are absolutely right. I dont want to see mayweather fight pac, pac too small. I wouldnt mind mayweather fighting for once a bigger and great fighter. this is only a dream but only if Hopkins was still at middleweight he and mayweather could meet at a catchweight like the way de la hoya and hopkins did. Dream match match mayweather vs bhop at 157lbs now lets see or how much money mayweather is
21hayabusa 2 years ago
what was diego corrales and all the other fighters floyd fought moving up in weight,he has fought bigger guys his whole career,he fights 1 guy smaller now he only fights small opponents be fuckin for real
6027boss 2 years ago
6027boss- Wow you are really nearsighted. 1 smaller guy? How's about back to back now with Hatton then Marquez. Like somebody else said next stop is Israel Vazquez b/c their is no linear champion at 130 or 126 so Izzy's next and remember what Floyd told Brian Kinney, "The man has a whole country behind him." Never mind he's lost 4 or 5 times like Mosley.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
Yeah U r right FMJ has fought kostya tszyu, Paul Williams, Margarito, Winky Wright, Vernon Forrest everybody that is bigger and WITH TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!! WITH TALENT u can fight bigger guys, but they can also be nobodies did u forget about Carlos Balomir an all time great right? fighting Judah after a loss cmon
And fucking for Real this is going to upset u but their is rumor going around that mayweather vs jor calzaghe at a catchweight now that fucking for real lol lol!!

I just got up and went to answer the door due to the bell noise in your video.

Floyd would also destroy manny. He's just too small.
I would only give cotto and williams a shot at 147 to beat floyd.

Mayweather vs Mosley will not outsell his last PPV. Now Mayweather vs Pacquiao would, When you say "We" are all sick of his promotion..who are you taking about? fans in general or just the haters?
conde357 2 years ago
conde357- "We" means 1.those of us who are not Mayweather worshippers. ODLH II. Happy now ?
boxinginfo 2 years ago
So just because I like Mayweather I am not a hardcore boxing fan?
conde357 2 years ago
conde357 - you fit definition number 1 based on all of your ranting and raving about me hating Mayweather when I really don't. All I do is disprove all the bullshit that comes out of all the Mayweather's mouths, that same bullshit you so aptly call "promotion."
I never said you were or were not anything, stop running from the truth.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
conde357-You have a right to your opinion but I vehemently disagree. You say what you say JUST SO MAYWEATHER CAN GET OFF THE HOOK FOR AVOIDING MOSLEY! Everybody can see right through your/his scheme.Mosley doesn't have a huge following, but in boxing circles everybody truly believes he has a bonafide chance of winning and like ONE OF YOU said people will flock to the PPV if they think FMJ might lose, remember somebody saying that on these viseo comments?Let me guess back to 300K sales for Mosley?
boxinginfo 2 years ago
JMM was simply a tune up. I also would love to see Mosley vs Mayweather but after Pacquiao/Cotto winner. As I said before Mosley will not bring big PPV #'s.
conde357 2 years ago
conde357- Mosley will do just as well as Marquez, if he wouldn't then Oscar never would have given him a rematch which teetered on or above a million buys when everybody thought Shane was washed up and Oscar was going to roll him.
I love how you keep toting this FMJ line that Mosley has to wait until after the Pacquiao-Cotto winner, maybe when he's past his 40th birthday and has another loss or two then maybe it will be time to make the fight, right?
boxinginfo 2 years ago
conde357- This is all in good fun but I have to ask, why did you just blow right past the "handpicking" of a featherweight with 4 losses as opposed to the champion of the division with 5 (excusable losses)? I'm just amused at all the FMJ Worshippers who won't touch that subject as if it were the Ebola virus.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
haha
if people dont think that Mosley vs Mayweather does not sell more than a mill they crazy
shit i would dish out a 100 dollars to see that fight( and i ussually get my shit for free)
Islander did u see Floyd s face when Mosley got in there
i thought
Floyd was going to shit himself
B-hop was there to instigate the whole thing
I wish that Mosley would have went on and verbally bashed the shit out of floyd with some f bombs. that would have forced Floyd to face him.
dieallday 2 years ago
dieallday- I agree that all the hardcore fans would buy Mayweather-Mosley.
I think Shane is too nice a guy and Floyd who's fairly nice after his fights knows this, so unless Shane absolutely insults him like Hatton did, I doubt he'll really get his attention. The whole thing with Hopkins was borderline ridiculous especially coming from a guy who is near impossible to work with.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
just becvause floyds first couple of ppvs did not have stellar numbers automatically makes him a non ppv star,do you know the numbers to pacquaio vs. david diaz,i think it was barely 200,000 if that, but we all know manny is a big ppv attraction
6027boss 2 years ago
I enjoy your show and look forward to your videos every week, but your hate for am"certain" fighter is very obvious. Why bring up PPV #'s from before? look at how Floyd did when he fought DLH, Hatton, and JMM...
conde357 2 years ago
conde357- I appreciate you watching.
Those are facts whether you like them or not or you like me or not I can't control the shit that flows from Mayweather's mouth or change the PPV sales for those fights.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
Come on bro! that is called promotion....like I said..you buy right into what he says. I wouldn't call myself a worshipper but I admire the man's skills in the ring. I didn't start watching Floyd last year, I've been a fan since a long time ago.
conde357 2 years ago
conde357- I have never been more satisfied with Floyd Mayweather Jr. than on 4 occasions: 1. CONT>
boxinginfo 2 years ago
conde357 - CONT. we are all sick of the "promotion" how can somebody talk about being the best, fight a guy 2 full weight classes below him and turn down the real champion of his division b/c he has 5 losses when the feather weight he just fought had 4 or 5 losses?
Everybody please give your opinion: Would FMJ-Mosley sell more PPV than FMJ-Marquez? I would bet it would yet Floyd lets you believe it wouldn't therefore not taking the fight.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
B-Info,
You are going to have to break yourself out of that Gatti/Judah/Baldo paradigm.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712- Evander Holyfield
Also you are comparing apples w/ oranges when you bring Featherweights into the picture and non English speaking ones at that. Remember PPV numbers until recently were based on US sales so how can two 126-130lb non English speaking Mexicans draw from the same boxing pool that Mayweather caters to? They can't and thats why the numbers are the numbers.
Hell, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. sells over 200K per PPV vs. tomato cans to put it in perspective.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
B-Info,
But aren't you guilty of the same thing? You are comparing Mayweather's first 2-3 PPV events to fighters who were much more established. In any event, all that "cash cow" talk didn't materialize until the DLH era. If you remember the Goossen promotion for Pretty Risky and the Judah "Sworn Enemies" bout, Floyd had not yet adopted the "Money" persona. That came later.
Your statements are anachronistic.
B-info: do you feel that TODAY, PBF is a big commercial draw?
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
hey man there is no need to argue with him,he will never give mayweather his credit
6027boss 2 years ago
6027boss - you are right, I'm not crazy like most of you who buy into this "greatest to ever lace up the gloves" bull shit they keep force feeding you.
He wouldn't last 10 rounds with Sugar Ray Robinson and I have my doubts about 15 rounds with Sugar Ray Leonard.
But FMJ is the absolute BEST @ beating up on the linear champions at 140, 135, whats next Israel Vazquez the next one down the line? You want his credit there you have it little buddy. Meanwhile Cotto fights the fights FMJ won't FACT.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
you never heard me say he is the greatest to ever lace up the gloves,so i dont know where you got that from,i think he is far from the greatest
6027boss 2 years ago
Bernardo712- In the context that you, 6027boss, and I are speaking with all the facts we both brought to the table - YES FMJ is a BIG commercial draw and the biggest in the sport right now.
My problem is with FMJ's own crazy image of himself. Example being: if he hypothetically took on Delvin Rodriguez, my first guess is it might not be on PPV, second if it were I'm not sure it would break 400-500K buys. I could be wrong but I doubt it. Is this enough buys to fund his 8 figure salary? Maybe
boxinginfo 2 years ago
If you think that Evander Holyfield will sell more than FMJ, then we have huge fundamental differences in the way we see the sport and these fighters' respective economic viability.
Best of luck with that one.
Holyfield-Klitschko in Spring 2010 would not do a million buys.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712- I do not think that Evander Holyfield will outsell FMJ at this current juncture. But, his past numbers sure as hell speak for themselves don't they? And yes we are not comparing apples to apples b/c Holyfield is a heavyweight but you asked me for a current boxer, and as far as last December Holyfield was boxing. I was just being a smart ass the answer was not a serious one.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
all i can say, it just shows that there are a lot of mayweather suckers who continue to support that mayweather and the gbp is doing. they put bad fights and suckers will still pay. this is what scares casual boxing fans from watching boxing fights.
aznvedz 2 years ago
if floyd and manny fight and you say the one who comes forward will lose then in my opinion i think manny will be the one coming forward but i think he will beat floyd because of his speed and accuracy, floyd wont know were the punches are coming from and i think manny could stop him
twelvequaysboxing 2 years ago
twelvequay- What I'm saying is, there is no single way one fighter is going to beat the other unless Manny pressures from the outset and gets picked apart coming in. What I'm saying about being passive is Pacquiao whether he can do it or not has to fight like Judah did and get a lead, he has to force FMJ to open up and take chances, if neither guy does this then the fight will look like Oscar vs. Whitaker. If the fight follows the Judah fight for the 1st 5 rounds it will be Manny's best chance.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
hey islander dont you think though that floyds shell defense is much more effective against smaller guys with a small reach? pacquiao is 5'7 with a 67 reach, wouldn't you think that would come into play? when juday landed shots on floyd he didn't lunge at all and you know damn well that pacquiao will lunge recklessly trying to land that left because of his short reach. he has to lunge and punch constantly and i think that will be the difference along with his undoing. what do you think?
shacasulu 2 years ago
shacasulu- I think Roach has gotten that "lunging" out of Pac's repertoire. Example, he didn't jump or lunge once vs. DelaHoya who sported a big reach and bigger height advantage.
You are right about the shell defense to this point, it's not as effective against lefties and it's less effective when he has to come forward.
I see the only clear way Pac has in order to win is fight like Judah until Mayweather HAS to walk him down b/c we all know Pac has a helluv a lot more than Judah does.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
i disagree i think pacquiao still lunges recklessly sometimes. hell he did it against hatton in the second round. i just think the reach is to small and while his shell defense is less effective against a southpaw, the less effectiveness will level out because of pacquiao's small reach. plus i really think mayweather will not walk him down and i know if manny cant land flush shots on him he will grow frustrated. once that happens manny will create mistakes.
shacasulu 2 years ago
if pacquiao is fighting mayweather, i don't think he will fight like he always do. of course there will be a gameplan to fight cotto and there will be a gameplan for mayweather.
aznvedz 2 years ago
B-info, But if you notice, when Floyd comes forward now - especially against southpaws, he has shifted away from the Philly Shell into more of a High Guard. i encourage you to watch the first few rounds of Mitchell and Judah. notice how he squares up more with the big Grant gloves up.
I noticed that adjustment.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712- I agree he does change his defense. I also notice he gets hit a tiny bit more as well. Not much to be alarmed about against the likes of Corley,Mitchell and Judah, I wonder about Pacquiao.
The other problem people have not acknowledged is that Pacquiao is not likely to get the job done w/1 shot its going to be an accumulation which unless he follows a certain script will not materialize, and even so it still may not materialize.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
i think you're still thinking about the pacquiao when he fought morales. the guy who just keeps on throwing without even looking, trying to land the left.
aznvedz 2 years ago
Here are some facts for you:
Gatti's biggest payday and sole PPV: Mayweather
Judah's biggest payday and first PPV: Mayweather.
Baldomir's biggest payday and sole PPV: Mayweather
Delahoya's biggest payday and biggest PPV: Mayweather.
Hatton's biggest payday and first PPV: Mayweather.
Marquez' biggest payday and biggest PPV: Mayweather.
I guess Floyd is just the luckiest guy on earth. This is all a huge coincidence.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712- Yawn, who cares? The numbers don't lie, he and Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir (where people were walking out on the fight in the 10th and 11th rounds) couldn't break 400K buys.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
@ boxingInfo,
You ask a question.
Grow up, man.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712-You are correct,Floyd is very marketable, to a point. Which is why I keep bringing up Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir. Unless you'll admit it there is no reason to keep this up and that is that FMJ AIN'T NO ODLH when it comes to PPV plain and simple.
I ask you about PPV sales and you come back with "these people's biggest paydays" What does that have to do with the PPV they sold? Nothing, its like saying Larry Holmes got his biggest payday off Gerry Cooney, I guess that was b/c of Holmes?
boxinginfo 2 years ago
and honestly i feel he also sells a lot of ppvs because a lot of people want to see him lose,so i feel the people wanting to see him lose have about as much affect on ppv sells as much as his own fans
6027boss 2 years ago
@ 6027 boss,
That is common among many high-selling entities. Many people tune in to see the Yankees lose. Notre Dame has a large contingent of haters.
Being controversial is (often) a principal driver of commercial appeal.
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
That's an unfair comparison....of course he is not ODLH....he had women tuning in to see his pretty face. We understand your hate for Floyd but give the man some credit.
conde357 2 years ago
conde357- I do not hate Floyd, I hate the card Floyd plays, like the way he plays you!
FMJ calls himself "The cash cow" and you accuse me of an unfair comparison to Oscar. WTF is wrong with this picture? Maybe the problem is I'm not worshipping somebody to your liking? Yeah that's the ticket alright.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
No that's not the problem. I bought the fight because I wanted to see Boxing...nobody tricked me into thinking anything. I knew exactly what I was buying...a tune up fight for Floyd. Maybe you are buying into Floyd's bad image a little bit too much.
conde357 2 years ago
conde357- I am not making anything of Floyd's image, it's his and his alone.
You bought the fight because you knew ahead of time it was going to be a dreary unanimous decision?
I did not buy it because I knew or better yet used my experience to deduct the outcome before it ever happened. The same could be said of the Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir fights and to some extent DelaHoya although there were some intriguing intangibles like the weight and 10oz gloves.
boxinginfo 2 years ago
@ B-info: I answered this previously. Please scroll up to "3 days ago"
Vs gatti: 375K
vs judah: 390K
vs Tata: 330K
Are those atrocious numbers? Or are those very respectable numbers?
Floyd is NOT a draw on the order of DLH. Agreed. But DLH is no longer an active fighter. So FMJ has assumed that position.
The paydays of his opposition is relevant because that is why he gets called out. His opponents consistently get paid. And paid well.
Are you disputing my facts?
BERNARDO712 2 years ago
Bernardo712- The numbers themselves are NOT atrocious, you and I can agree 100% on that.
When somebody calls themself the "Cash Cow" and produces numbers like that, then yes in that context they are horrendous. So much so that HBO told Floyd he wouldn't be on PPV unless it was against another top flight name such as Oscar, Hatton, and now Marquez.
So a fight between FMJ and Michael Katsidis would not be on HBO PPV I promise to whoever used this example earlier.

@6027boss-agree, a fighter will get the credit when they deserve it. after marquez fought pac, i didn't rank him in the top p4p because his resume only have pacquiao. then when he added barrera, casamayor, diaz, he got the credit he deserves. i don't like darchinyan but i rank him in the p4p before his loss because of his accomplishments. as for floyd, the only true welters he fought is baldomir & small judah who really is a jr welter, the rest are below his weight like mitchell, marquez, hatton
aznvedz 2 years ago
i dont feel people should let their heart manipulate what comes out their mouth, out of the respect and love for boxing,i always call it how i see it and always gonna tell the truth, floyd is my favorite fighter, but if doesnt go after manny, coot, berto, or mosley, then im gonna say he is a coward and a ducker, because he says hes back to fight the best so we will see what he does next, but we all know all 4 will get that ass tapped and thats the truth
6027boss 2 years ago
6027boss - I agree but I wouldn't call him a coward, he's more an OPPORTUNIST, just like the way he just stole your money a week and a half ago (well he stole at least a million household's money anyway not mine thank God) But nothing in the recent past tells me he's going to tap any ass that ain't some skanky Vegas ho. He probably will beat all 4, squeak by a couple like he did Oscar, but that's just reality not favoring 1 guy over another Floyd is the most talented.

Period.
MistNin 2 years ago
He is staying at 160, he is fighting Pavlik soon. Anyone think he can beat Pavlik?
danlfc1983 2 years ago
i don;t know man. this is a fight where williams is not going to be very big against his opponent. his reach is still longer but not much compare to his previous opponents. i think it really depends to which pavlik will show up...the pavlik before the hopkins fight or after.
aznvedz 2 years ago
Me and a friend of mine are in a debate about the outcome of Pavlik - Williams. I think Pavlik will win and he thinks Williams will.

MistNin 2 years ago
I want to see Marquez at 140 fighting either Alexander, Campbell, Hatton or Bradley but Valero at 135 sounds good too.
MistNin 2 years ago
yeah, this is the reason why this crappy or mismatch fights are still being given to the boxing fans. mayweather learned this from ODLH. they give crappy fights, hype it, then people will bite and buy the PPV. imagine if mayweather-marquez fight did badly? it will push mayweather to fight someone his own size. but now, he can see that there will be suckers that will still buy the ppv even if the fight is a mismatch.

L33BAP-Thank you & to answer your question, I said the PPV would not do well because I can not believe the number of gullible people who keep paying to see Floyd's fights against people who have no chance of beating him like Baldomir (don't know the #'s but they must be amusingly smal
