  • you know, i never thought about this. thanks for bringing it to my attention. many terms are confused here in the states, i think in part due to the media & their soundbyte, flash coverage which leads to bad information & false impressions. another could be a factor of time. as words are used frequently around one another, over time they are perceived as being synonymous. his creates a divide between the academic &popular understandings. then there are the inherent problems w/a living language

  • These semantics are not worth arguing about.

  • actually they are. It is this semantical jiigerypokery that anarcho capitalists use to insinuate themselves into anarchism, so in order to debunk it it is nessesary to talk about it. besides semantics can be fun:)

  • But you're talking about the same thing essentially. You just have different definitions. As far as free markets go, Xomniverse is completely in support of them as are most people who call themselves anarcho-capitalists. By your definition of capitalism he'd be totally against it, but since he has a different definition you then have a disagreement. The only result of this is that you keep talking past each other.

  • But it is this twisting of meaning to suit things I was talking about in this video. remove the government and you finish up with just a market. so why claim to support capitalism (which can only exist with a state)? actually existing capitalism has been proven to be bad, so why not simply remove it and replace it with something else? it is the anarcho capitalists who are messing with definitions. I'm just reacting to it.I have no problem with freemarkets. it's the capitalist bit I detest.

  • This is why you should ask for definitions before you debate to see if you even disagree.

  • I wonder why any anarchist would want to hold onto the term 'capitalism'. Western capitalism is a statist function, a hierachal class system based on institutionalised disparities of wealth and political power.
