It is even more of a blow to us men who were circumcised as adults. We are learning more and more about how much sensation and pleasure we really lost. We are learning how women prefer uncut men over us. And we are learning that no one really cares about the huge wrong done to us. But at liest maybe sometime in the future you can say to people that it sucks that I got my penis mutilated as a baby and instead of looking at you like a freak they will say "yes it does".

When I was 3 years old I was about to get circumcized. But I cried too much and made too much noise, so the doctors stopped. I knew that circumcision will hurt a lot and thank God I escaped from that situation. Now my foreskin is tight. A few weeks ago ex-gf told me to strech it. Mutilation has a pretty specific definition and circumcision certainly qualifies. There is, however, a social interpretation of the word that does have a value placed on it. There actually is NO proof that either of these things don't happen without circumcision. Tearing of the membrane DOES occur and they don't go around looking at every guys penis to see if the hole is smaller than it should be.

the foreskin is not the "tip" of the penis. The head is. The foreskin is a double fold of skin that everts down the shaft and is connected below the head. Actually, the foreskin provides more than just more 'intense' sensation. The nerves are different, with different sensations. More variety. These nerves are tied into the ejaculatory response and the feedback tells a man where he is in relation to his pending orgasm. It's possible it could hurt. There are guys out there whose foreskins did not retract before they started regularly having sex after their teen years. You can always stretch by hand if you're concerned. If you're having sex and your foreskin doesn't pull back, my advice is to just take it easy. Very vigorous or rough sex could cause injury.
When you were a child nothing WAS wrong, foreskins sometimes don't come back until the late teens. Search online for groups of men who have what you have: a non-retractile foreskin, and are perfectly happy that way. Don't think that there's something wrong just because you're different from the norm. If you want your foreskin to come back, you can slowly achieve that. I say, have sex first, see for yourself before you decide you need to change. the DrS here is right, just be careful.

Also, the risk of complications directly from circumcision (a very conservative estimate from a medical organization I saw was 2%) is greater than the actual benefit supposedly extended to the circumcised? 2% is itself higher than the probability that someone will have an HIV positive sexual partner in his life.
For an unnecessary surgery performed on the genitals of a newborn, one that carries risks such as permanent loss of function, aesthetic damage, emotional trauma, brain damage, loss of penis and possible sexual reassignment, *death*, how low must the risk of complication be to chance it? We know that it's possible to live a perfectly healthy life without being subjected to circumcision, so why bother given what could go wrong, however rare complications may be?

The studies about circumcision and bacteria and HIV especially are seriously flawed. For example, the claim in the US is that circumcised boys are less susceptible to UTIs. Not only is the advantage slight, but it would also probably be reversed if so many boys didn't have their foreskins forcibly retracted during infancy, allowing bacteria in.
Also, one does not "contract" penile cancer, as it's not a contagious disease. Penile cancer is an incredibly rare cancer, usually affecting only elderly males. More men develop and die from breast cancer than penile cancer, yet men do not have their breasts amputated with any regularity. "Non-essential" body parts are not generally removed for cancer risk until later in life, and except in families with histories of cancer, generally not until that cancer has presented....
...So why subject infants to what is most definitely an unnecessary surgery because it may reduce their risk of developing a very rare disease when they are in their 70s or older? Also note that, despite some incidence statistics suggesting the rarity of penile cancer in circumcised men, no link has been adequately proven between intactness and commonality of penile cancer.
You might try tugging on the shaft skin just with your hand. Also you can try buying some first aid tape at a drug store. This is what I did when I started in high school.
You can do what I said for some time and with some great benefit before anyone would even realize that you were restoring. Just keeping the glans covered by taping the shaft skin closed will improve sensation in time. And of course, with tape, you can just throw it away or not put it on whenever it might be inconvenient to be wearing it.
The issue of Routine Infant Circumcision has so much to do with the medical establishment, Doctors and Hospitals. They should know about all the damage and mutilation that RIC causes but they all continue to be unethical and push RIC for easy profit. Most doctors who do circumcisions on children are damn crazy, they are doing tight circumcisions on children, many of them even removing the inner foreskin(mucous membrane)
Most DON'T know what circumcision IS. What is removed from circumcision is this:
Half of the skin from the head to the base. The remaining half(at the base end) is bonded to the back of the head by the clamping device they use..
There is no flap or other "thing" that is removed. That skin, which is removed, contains most of the erogenous nerves as well as many other structures like the ridged band and lubricating glands.
As for the HIV argument, there have been studies that show that there are cells present in the foreskin called Langerhans that actually fight off HIV infection.

I would never use the surgical procedure, natural is the way to go. Even though it doesn't bring back all the nerves that were taken away or bring back the lubrication but at least most the nerves grow back and the penis becomes more sensitive.

Thanks for helping to spread this important information. Most people who get their child circumcised have NO idea of the risks they are taking, thinking it a simple and safe procedure. I compare it to playing Russian roulette with your child. You are not really sure what damage may or may not occur, including death. If you suggested a person play Russian roulette with their child they would consider you crazy, yet they casually circumcise their son as if it were no more than cutting his hair.

There actually is NO proof that either of these things don't happen without circumcision. Tearing of the membrane DOES occur and they don't go around looking at every guys penis to see if the hole is smaller than it should be.

Premature retraction is a cause of tearing in intact kids. An intact guy is not going to get meatal stenosis for no reason. It's not a hole, =) that's the point, it's a slit, if it's a hole, you have stenosis. I can imagine that if you had diabetes or some blood flow problem it could happen without circumcision...

I'm a little confused by your comments.
the foreskin is not the "tip" of the penis. The head is. The foreskin is a double fold of skin that everts down the shaft and is connected below the head. I agree that circ is it's own damage and that complications are FURTHER damage, but I'm speaking to people who consider a successful circumcision 'normal' and don't know that there's a further risk.

Actually, the foreskin provides more than just more 'intense' sensation. The nerves are different, with different sensations. More variety. These nerves are tied into the ejaculatory response and the feedback tells a man where he is in relation to his pending orgasm. well..... mostly yes. Very few men remember their circ directly. Few more remember it semi-directly. However, the brain at that age is taking very detailed notes. =) We learn more in our first few years than we do in the whole rest of our lives. Along with facts and things, we learn patterns and our bodies learn how to react. They have done some fascinating studies. Some show a decreased pain tolerance in cut boys at 1st vaccs. There is a fairly new study out there that shows circumcised guys have only a tad more than half as much of a fine-touch response throughout their penis. There is a growing amount of evidence that shows that circumcision causes more harm than it "fixes". If anyone here is a new or expecting parent, please, PLEASE, do your homework before making a decision.

I am 30, and my foreskin does not go back. When I was child I thought nothing was wrong as I had no pictures to compare with! I feel no discomfort at all, never. BUT I did not start my sexual life yet (don't laugh please). I am kind of afraid what will happen during the first coitus. Would it hurt? I am so embarrassed and stressed now. It's possible it could hurt. There are guys out there whose foreskins did not retract before they started regularly having sex after their teen years. You can always stretch by hand if you're concerned. If you're having sex and your foreskin doesn't pull back, my advice is to just take it easy. Very vigorous or rough sex could cause injury.

When you were a child nothing WAS wrong, foreskins sometimes don't come back until the late teens. Search online for groups of men who have what you have: a non-retractile foreskin, and are perfectly happy that way. Don't think that there's something wrong just because you're different from the norm. If you want your foreskin to come back, you can slowly achieve that. I say, have sex first, see for yourself before you decide you need to change. the DrS here is right, just be careful.

My impression is that you are selling it as some highly traumatic risky damaging act w/ a high number of "dissatisfied customers", when its clearly a long-tested routine procedure thats quick healing on infants and involves statistical risks no greater than leaving the foreskin intact, and the overwhelming majority of cut adults know they are perfectly functional and happy and feel pleasure fine and simply know no different, or know both and like it. Also, the risk of complications directly from circumcision (a very conservative estimate from a medical organization I saw was 2%) is greater than the actual benefit supposedly extended to the circumcised? 2% is itself higher than the probability that someone will have an HIV positive sexual partner in his life.

I was also under 18 when my tonsils and wisdom teeth were removed and braces put on, and children often get laser eye surgery and ear piercings and such under the age of 18 with parental consent.
Parents make decisions for their children, and as long as it is not a clearly traumatic one, its really none of your business to interfere with their families. Whether or not it is traumatic appears to be up for debate, but I didn't think it was and I would bet my life the overwhelming majority dont

Tonsils, wisdom teeth, braces, laser eye surgery--all of these are done once a problem has presented, unlike infant circumcision. An adolescent or whatever the case might be would be generally electing for his or her ears to be pierced, and at the very least can voice concerns regarding any of these, unlike circumcision. Other than perhaps laser eye surgery, none of what you mentioned carry risks even approaching the seriousness of those associated with circumcision....

All of those are a completely wrong comparison to circumsition. Eye surgery sounds dangerous, but it isn't. It's a very succesfull method of eye restoration. Piercings.....I admit, are usually stupid, but the worst you can get because of it is hepatitis or an infection (both curable).

Circumcision can actually lead to the scrotum being pulled up the shaft of the penis because too much skin is frequently removed during the surgery. The studies about circumcision and bacteria and HIV especially are seriously flawed. For example, the claim in the US is that circumcised boys are less susceptible to UTIs. Not only is the advantage slight, but it would also probably be reversed if so many boys didn't have their foreskins forcibly retracted during infancy, allowing bacteria in.

Also, one does not "contract" penile cancer, as it's not a contagious disease. Penile cancer is an incredibly rare cancer, usually affecting only elderly males. More men develop and die from breast cancer than penile cancer, yet men do not have their breasts amputated with any regularity. "Non-essential" body parts are not generally removed for cancer risk until later in life, and except in families with histories of cancer, generally not until that cancer has presented....

You can do what I said for some time and with some great benefit before anyone would even realize that you were restoring. Just keeping the glans covered by taping the shaft skin closed will improve sensation in time. And of course, with tape, you can just throw it away or not put it on whenever it might be inconvenient to be wearing it.

The issue of Routine Infant Circumcision has so much to do with the medical establishment, Doctors and Hospitals. They should know about all the damage and mutilation that RIC causes but they all continue to be unethical and push RIC for easy profit. Most DON'T know what circumcision IS. What is removed from circumcision is this:
Half of the skin from the head to the base. The remaining half(at the base end) is bonded to the back of the head by the clamping device they use..
There is no flap or other "thing" that is removed. That skin, which is removed, contains most of the erogenous nerves as well as many other structures like the ridged band and lubricating glands.

I compare it to playing Russian roulette with your child. You are not really sure what damage may or may not occur, including death. If you suggested a person play Russian roulette with their child they would consider you crazy, yet they casually circumcise their son as if it were no more than cutting his hair.

So many people never give it a second thought, and assume that because it is so common and accepted, that nothing can go wrong. Sadly, this is clearly not the case.
The unfortunate thing is that because some of the damage may not become evident until later in life, people do not realize it is as a result of the circumcision at all.
