WHAT!!??!? THAT IS EASY! All i ever play is chords with an octave pinky to close it! in my right and left is a follow up to finish the arpegio! All this is, is an arpegio! I thought after 30licks there would be somthing cool! :(
The most difficult lick from the series even for me(I can reach from C to G,more than one and a half octave...)....But I finally did it....It took me around 3 hours to finish playing all the licks, another 5-6 hours to play them up to speed and three whole MONTHS to combine them in the most sufficient way(for me at least....).....Thank you for helping me to take my first step in this amazing music world called blues.......Really man, even your blah-blah is sometimes usefull.....many thanks!!!!!
Probably stating the really obvious here (sorry if you think I am), but if, like me, you really do have small hands and/or short fingers, you could knock off the bottom note of each chord and add it in an octave higher so the chords become:
C-E-Bb-C (C7) and Eb-f-A-C(F7)
You're still getting the Blues/7th sound - just a different inversion of it that's all. It will not sound exactly the same as above but will come close if you're struggling :-)
Thank you John. Classically trained 20 years ago, without keys in my home for 20 years... I'm throwing myself a new learning curve here! I appreciate this!
licks 1-29 of the advanced section are easy for an advanced player but this "lick" is insanely difficult especially if you can reach a tength (which I can't) because then you have to have the wrist/finger stamina. Add to that you will probably be playing a left hand line which is equally as draining
You could, but it's not the same sound. It's like playing a C chord. You can play C, E, G right next to each other or you could play the lowest C on the piano, the G above middle C and then the highest E on the piano. Same chord, way different sound.
no way lol. even playing the chord is tough (it stretches from A to C, a minor tenth); applying the tremolo is very difficult and, as the guy says, requires a lot of finger strength.
It might look easy for pianists who has formal training, but what counts here is the "feel of the blues." You can hit those notes 100% but it takes a lot of experience to get the feel of a blues piano player.
People who don't have the physical attributes to play a certan instrument shouldn't. To play piano, long fingers and wide hands are very important and if you don't have that your just not going to be a very successful piano player. Just like playng tumpet, if you dn't have tight lips, your not going to be able to play it nearly as well as someone with tighter lips.
Yeah, I generally don't comment, but that comment is ridiculous. My uncle, my cousin, and I all have fairly small hands and my uncle has fat fingers. And we've all got chops. I do have to stretch to get 10 notes, but I get the job done.

He played a G instead of an A for the C9, not what was written.

couldn't you just play the Bb and the A in the same octave as the rest of the notes

I've been playing piano for twenty years mate, it's the first instrument I learned - I don't need to try something I already know. :)
