  • Yeah, do your thang James !!

  • The Best!

  • Brown vs. Jackson (click my channel)

  • That's no contest. James Brown owns MJ all day long. Comparing pop to soul/funk? Pop is for little girls and third world countries.

  • of course james brown is better. but people need to see it, so they can convert back to soul power, YA DIGG

  • Right on, Bro

  • MJ has soul, man. Listen to "Off the Wall" album and tell me that aint soul. Comparing them is retarded. MJ cites James Brown as one of his biggest idols, together with Jackie Wilson.

Oh and black folk from third world countries have soul. Listen to Youssour N'dour and tell me he aint got soul.

  • that's the real thing baby!!!!!

  • The Man with the Crown, the living legend, Mr. Dynamite! ;)

  • How does james brown move his feet that fast?

  • so true brother, so true !

  • ...that's eddie murphy :P

  • Don`t worry about it too much, its a black thing you would never understand....LOL

  • You obviously don't understand that it is the music that is the most important thing, try being less intellectual and learn to FEEEL!!! Understand that!

  • Blues music i hope will live on forever! This is simply amazing..such a great singer with great talent!!

  • And Elvis got all his music from the " simple minded people" "ignorant sheep" so did the beattles, joplin, zeppelin, stones, clapton, skynard, etc.

  • I tell you. I have seen more than one comment from this "ruleoforder" guy when it comes to james brown vids. The best advice I can give is to ignore him. He is a world class LOSER trying to get a rise out of everyone by saying dumb stuff. He isnt even a musician let alone can he call anyone simple or ignorant when he is displaying the girth of his intellect already!...lol

  • when you have over 114 hit records. you can talk Mr IGNORANT......I lOVE JAMES BROWN. YOU GOT ELVIS.

  • OMG! Still! :-)

  • @eritreangurrl you are so right- loved those days!!!

  • @eritreangurrl Everybody aint a dirty ho....the women nowadays are just as beautiful today as they've ever been(especially since more interracial reproduction), if not more so... It's the CREEPS who run the INDUSTRY who require/promote the image of women as ho's...I feel where you're coming from though, eritreangurrl....

  • @tphoyas yeah i shoulda been clearer on that point, but what you said is exactly what i meant.

  • James Brown's Mashed Potatoes vid

    watch?v=Z6PpVn_1af0

  • What song is he singing here? Is it Out Of Sight?

  • Yes it is.

  • amazing..

    More please!!

  • Take a good look at the video of this song from the Olympia performance one year earlier, and note the evolution. Note the frenetic energy, in burst at the work in progress in 1966, then watch the tempo slow down, the pace even up, the base become more pronounced, and the band fall into a groove. You can see it in James, the Famous Flames and the female dancers. This is the transition from soul to FUNK...

  • Thank you for this great video,of the King of Soul!!!

  • Where are those dancers now? Can you imagine that somewhere, some kid gets to come home, pop in a DVD or click on a computer link, and say to his friends: "That dancer there on the left is my grandma!"

  • i saw a video the other, where there was a kid that i was beating when we were at school together at like 8 years old, funny heh? he's so ugly now

  • This is a great little video, too bad it isn't longer! James and his bands are so fun to watch & hear.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • ericdlayne Check out "James Brown - Out of Sight (live)". You get the full performance from 1964.

  • Just looking and thinking: entertainment IS DEAD. OMG he´s so cooool!!

  • Thanks JBsoulman, couldn't agree more. I like to think that folks who just go for the jokes about him quiet down a little once they check out videos of him killing with unmatched talent.

  • Here is JB the way the world should remember him by! Not by jokes! He was, is, and always will be the king of SOUL!

  • amen brother R

  • I was an atheist until I saw him! He's a god!!

  • This makes you feel sooooo nice..............

  • OLD SKOOL CLASSY MAN

  • I love that man

  • One more note-- look at the James Brown and Pavarotti clip. Great!

I'm just trying to help other JB fans see some great performances.

  • James sure could dance. Love this clip! THANKS! Another great clip Prisoner of your Love at the end of his fantastic from the heart singing is his unbelievable dance moves. Probably the best I ever seen! Another great from the heart song he sings is Mans World clip from 1966. JB was great! He always tried to put on his best show for the audience! RIP JB

  • Yo Man this is TIGHT what a piece of FuNk this is the band the girls the 2 man dem on the stage movin n groovin with the Main Soul brother number One

  • Hey folks ... I grew up listening to James Brown and I want to remind those who remember...He was not only the best act but he was the coolest dresser... if you wanted to look cool you dress like James Brown and you had to get shoes like he wore. Most of us looked goofy cus theres only one JB but then agian, he WAS Soul brother number one.

  • James Brown was a Master of Soul Music and there will never be another one like him.

  • That was awesome!

  • No offense but The beatles would not have been able to keep up.. Too busy watching and singing backup.. There's only room for one true performer on stage and James owned it.

  • this is so incredably funky and so long ago.I remember it though. The Beatles were just breakin out.Can you imagine if they would have got together?

  • Listen to that great voice of danny ray.I love you danny ray for staying with james for so many years.did you all see him put the cape on james at the funeral? wow so moving.

  • I'm glad people are truly appreciating James Brown. He's a man who actually created at genre. He was one step beyond. When older people criticize today's music it's not a conscious effort to "hate". It's just that they know music can be sooooooo much better and have much more dignity and integrity. Thank you YouTube.

  • Do you hear the voices that you left behind? R.I.P.

  • ohhhhhhhh hit me! get down on it! oh man is this epitamy of funk or what?!? this is just a long list of evidence that there will never be another james brown I salute you for that Mr. Funk aka James Brown RIP

  • "Sounds fantastic"

  • I want to know who James got his Soul stylings from or if he actually created the sound. There were several soul groups in the early 60's but none had the deep soul sound of JB/Flames. Is there a particular JB song that was his FIRST soul record? I've been a JB fan since "Black/Proud" when I was about 5/6 yrs' old. Was that his "first" soul record?

  • James Brown was influenced by groups like the Five Royals but his sound was unique and his own. Even the earlier doo-wop stuff had a grittier sound to it. The first real break-through soul record that was some of the original funk was "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag". Nothing remotely like that had ever been heard before, at that time.

  • Yeah... growing up in the Bronx in the early '60's/'70's all we listened to was soul music, but James' soul was distinctly different, it was like you could hear the "temps", Jacksons, Isleys, "Tops", "Meters" on the radio, but James was even too Soulful for most radio. I'm gonna research this more...

  • Wasn't that please, please, please in the early fifties?

  • No, not exactly, Please/Please/Please was a soulful BALLAD... I'm referring to a soulful dance groove. Basically JB's music is a sort of Soul/Jazz; where you have a soulful dance track AND Jazz artists taking solos; no one did it back then and to this day, no one does it. Further James dance music was actually more soulful than everything else out there at the time. Just a totally different kind of funk.

  • He told onze that he was inspired by Count basie to lead a band, the variations of the Duke ellington and the moves of Louis Jordan. This resulted in his onorthodox sound wich we know nowadays. When the first soulfull dance groove came? How about "out of sight and Pappa's got a brand new bag"?"This was from the late fifties and early sixties. Black and I'm proud was from '68 I guess.

  • I'm really both mystified and astounded that he was the first with this type of groove. Mind you, I've always been a JB fan. The first album that I ever purchased was "I Got You" in 1966... I was 7 years old and bought it at Woolworths on Wilkins ave. (now called Louis Nine Blvd) in the Bronx. I recognized at that early age that his music had a special rhythmic syncopation that was unequaled at that time.

  • You've got to check out "in the junglegroove". It's a coverage of the transformation of James from Godfather of Soul into the inventor and innovator of the funk! Together with Clyde Stubllefield and William "Bootsy" Collins. The recordings are from '69 till '71

  • I'm going to have to buy a James Brown Best of CD now.

  • er war wirklich ein grossser entertainer! ich hoffe er hat frieden gefunden...

  • esteja EM PAZ MESTRE!!!!
