not really, tool only really found their sound on lateralus, before that, opiate was straight rock, undertow was slow tempo dark stuff, aenima was getting to their sound then lateralus was their sound they stuck with , by that stage mudvayne had already been out with an album before ld 50, at least thats what i think, but tool and mudvayne are different, tool are more atmospheric and mudvayne are more headbanging

Mudvayne is so underrated due to Chad Gray being an intelligent lyricist. He is a genius. Ryan Martinie is easily top two in bass players world wide, and Matt is also an excellent drummer. It's sad to see such talent get passed over so people can listen to repetitive, moronic and lazy song writers and rappers. Maybe if he wrote songs people didn't have to think about they would do better...but i hope it doesn't come to that

And litterly the best thing about this band. Was they're simplisity. They didn't try too sound as technical as modern bands doo now. People prefer simple. Thats obvious by now. But songs like 'Nothing too gein' will always stick by me. I can remember the first time hearing that song.. It was the best thing my ears have ever heard. Such emotion. That riff... which i found out how too play in an instant. And i realised how simple and easy it is too play. But its so powerfull. Surport true metal\m/
